Bmore_DCParticipantOf the Charlotte Bobcats…what would be your plan to fix this team?
They have some nice young talent in Augustin, Kemba, Biyombo, Gerald Henderson, and Tyrus Thomas but they also have some terrible contracts to deal with in Thomas, Najera, Carroll, Diaw, Diop, and Maggette.
I just dont see where this team is going with this odd mix of vets and youngsters…its easy to say "trade the bad contracts for draft picks and money" but i dont even think they can…
im interested to hear some of your opinions!

thparadoxParticipantSell anyone and everyone for picks and young talent… or even nothing. Just get salary down by any means necessary and start rebuilding

Scottoant93ParticipantTrade as much as the bad contracts as possible..not many
build thrugh the draft, hire top scouts to properly evualate prospects(they’ve made some bad draft choices in the past years)
get some defensive veterans on the team, they were horrible on offense last year so if your that bad might as well develop a defensive mentality out of it, and adding more offensive talent as well
This team is a long way from the playoffs, i personally don’t see augustin anything other then a avg pg, Biyombo and kemba haven’t played a game yet but one known for defense while the other is an awesome scorer, henderson is a pretty good player but just a role player as well, Tyrus Thomas is what he is, a player who is probably capable of be a special player but always leaves a sour taste in your mouth because he leaves alot to be desired.
I dont know who the other thomas player on the bobcats is… i think you put that on accident because he doesn’t show up on the roster
Najera, carroll, are scrubs and i don’t think anyone would want them unless to fill a roster spot
Diaw is out of shape always, Diop is all defense and nothing more, and maggette can probably find a home if it wasn’t for his contract

Bmore_DCParticipantit was worded a little weird sorry…Thomas is a good young player but he also has a bad contract IMO

Scottoant93Participant^^^ oh ok, i got you now, i agree he could be a good player, but it looks like doesn’t really try and holds back

hooverballParticipantMy plan to fix this team would be simple. Mabe it would work out mabe it wouldn’t, but I would play the guys they got in however long we are gonna have for a season this year and get a decent draft pick. Then pitch JR Smith and Wilson Chandler on coming to play for Jordan together to form a starting lineup of:
Augustine
Smith
Chandler
Thomas
Biyombo
With Kemba Walked, Corrrey Maggette and Boris Diaw and (insert draft pick here) off the Bench.
Stong bench and a starting lineup with athleticism, shooting and shot blocking. IMO this is a playoff team with upside.

Charlie SheenParticipantPlay the season out allow Kemba to develop by playing and running the muck of a team and hope Biyombo grows 2 more inches. At the deadline deal the bad contracts for some talent..Minny will part with either Beasley/Randolph most likely Beasley so make a move for him maybe a deal like Gerald Henderson and Tyrus Thomas for Michael Beasley as GH and TT will fit in with the new T’Wolves style.
Sign JR Smith at the end of the year hoping he matures in China where maturity is needed to fit in with their culture plus Jordan is JR’s idol he always wanted to be him what better way to learn then to be around him 24/7
During the draft I pray pray pray that we walk away with Drummond
My Core Roster To Build Around
PG- Kemba Walker (Already posses great leadership can differ to guys or take over if need be)
SG- JR Smith (6’6 220 ideal 2Guard size Jordan could turn him into a 25+ point scorer)
SF- Michael Beasley ( At 6’10 he’s a match up nightmare if only he can jus focus)
PF- Andre Drummond (At 6’11 with his ball skills and Kemba’s ability to work the PnR he can do damage)
C- Bismack Biyombo (Hopefully he gets to 6’11 260)
Thats a potential frontline of ^’10-6’11-6’11 all under 24yrs old and an explosive back court of Cardiac Kemba and Instant Offense J.R.

OllstarParticipantFind someone who needs your players bad and get all you can. Most players on this team aren’t worth much. I’d trade Henderson and Augustin throw in a not so bad contract of Diaw and bring in some talent. Kemba will be good I don’t doubt this, keep him, he is the future.

fastdanParticipantI think trading with Minny for Beasley is a great idea. Charlotte needs scoring and youth, while Minny going to commit to Williams. Yeah, Beasley isn’t ideal, but he’s 21 and still has a lot of potential, and he’s the kind of risk they need to take with such of lack of young talent. Not sure what kind of deal would be worked out. Possibly maybe Henderson since Minny needs a SG, but he’s not exactly a great fit in Minny.
Not so sure why everyone is so keen on JR Smith going there though. I just don’t understand why everyone still thinks he’s going to suddenly mature. He’s a 7 year yet and 26 years old. If he was going to stop being a meat-head he would have already done it by now. He’ll never be more then bench player because he’ll always be too inconsistant and has horrific shot selection. And I don’t think Jordan is going to babysit a grown man and turn him into the player he should have been. Just not going to happen.
Trading DJ should get some decent return since he did show some promise last year. Maybe to Utah who is probably looking at life after Devin Harris, or NO because they know CP3 is not coming back after next year. Diaw may be constantly out of shape but he’s a very versitile vet who’s contract is expiring this year, and some contending team will probably love to add him at the deadline in exchange for a late first rounder.

Bmore_DCParticipantI know they got Cho…its a question for fun…every team has a GM bro lol…
besides that, didnt cho get fired after one season in portland???

HitsterParticipantThe Bobcats made fairly major moves last season by trading Crash Wallace and Stephen Jackson and using these moves indirectly to get two top 10 picks in Biyombo and Walker.
This season whenever it starts could be a long hard one for the Bobcats and if they do find it a struggle then they may decide to go with youth and maybe give the younger guys as much playing time as they can. I’ll be interested to see if Walker and Augustin could start together in what would be a very fast but also undersized frontcourt.
Magette could be a good veteran presence from the bench whilst Tyrus Thomas suddenly finds him one of the senior players on the roster and perhaps needs to step up and become the full time starting PF.
Diaw has trade potential given his expiring deal and versatility so could be used in a trade if MJ was perpared to take a bad contract back to get an asset in. The Bobcats do have a pick due from Portland but lose one to Chicago over the next few years so any deals that way are perhaps a bit limited.
So I’d say they perhaps have to look and build through the draft as a top FA would not see that as a likely destination however much they might like MJ.
I like the Beasley deal and could suggest maybe a move for OJ Mayo along similar lines. OJ has stagnated at Memphis so maybe a deal around the Portland pick and/or right to swap picks in 2013 might be a decent deal. At Charlotte Mayo could perhaps become the star and allow Walker to be a fantastic 6th man long term.

IndianaBasketballParticipantFunny how Thomas is considered a nice young talent, but overpaid at the same time…

Malik-UniversalParticipantmite as well trade augistin and diaw for a backup to walker… cuz lets be real… this is gnna be walker’s team to lead at around mid-season, diaw is just a fatass who has no work ethic what so ever, so dumping him would be nice…
the rest of the roster i say r for keeps for now until either contracts expire or when the draft comes for next yr
in conclusion this charrolte team is gnna be stinkin terrible
example: trade augustin for steve blake and diaw 4 a jenny craig

aamir543ParticipantPortland lets go of all the smart guys, Pritchard and Cho are good GMs, but Portland fires their GMs when they should be firing their medical staff.

rileymcshea3ParticipantOK well if i were the GM for the Bobcats I would build around my draft my picks with Bismack Biyombo and Kemba Walker.Basically I would blow this season off and allow the rooks to develop and get a nice draft pick maybe top 5 and draft Barnes ,Davis ,Sullinger and possibly Drummond they would all be great fits with the Bobcats
And I would try to pull a Cavaliers move and try to get 2 top 5 picks .
Or I would make a trade for Bargani because him and Biyombo would be like ying and yang with there defense and offense ,because the Rapts are probably looking to trade him and the Bobcats could trade Henderson or Augustine
Or make a trade for Beasly or O.J Mayo both have young talent and potential that would have plenty of oppertunities on this team
Best case scenario
Pg-Kemba Walker
Sg-O.J. Mayo
Sf-Harrison Barnes
Pf-Jared Sullinger
C-Bismack Biyombo
And they would have alot of potential

dmo21ParticipantSo, if I were the Bobcats GM I would also try a Beasley trade, but the one I came up with adds a third team to make it a better deal for each team(even though it looks like a bad deal for the wolves the trademachine gives them a +5, so I’ll stick with that lol). Here is the first trade I would try and what the lineups would look like after the trade:
CHA- Henderson, Diaw, Najera, and a pick for Beasley, Kaman, and Hayward. Augustin(Walker), Maggette(Carrol), Beasley(Hayward), Thomas(White), and Kaman(Biyombo).LAC- Kaman and Foye for Webster, Miller, Najera, and a pick. Williams(Bledsoe), Gordon(Leslie), Webster(Aminu), Griffin(Thompkins), and Jordan(Miller)MIN- Beasley, Webster, Hayward, and Miller for Henderson, Diaw, and Foye. Rubio(Ridnour), Henderson(Foye), Williams(Johnson), Love(Diaw), and Milicic(Pekovic)It does seem to look bad for the wolves, but as again the trademachine said they get the best from this deal and I was considering giving them charlottes pick instead of the clippers.. But the Bobcats get a key guy on offense in Beasley and a veteran center to play while Biyombo learns the game and to teach Biyombo some stuff. This also opens up playing time for Thomas, maybe he will do something, maybe he wont.
The Clippers make more playing time for Jordan by getting rid of Kaman and get a solid veteran backup for him in Brad Miller. Webster comes in and fills the void at small forward until Aminu is ready in a couple years.
Minnesota makes this trade so Williams has more playing time, as he should. They also get a true, young, shooting guard in Henderson. They get rid of some long contracts in Webster and Miller too.
I also had another trade to make the Bobcats a little younger, but I’m not to ecstatic about it, but it could work.
CHA- Maggette for Ariza and Andersen. Augustin(Walker), Ariza(Carroll), Beasley(Hayward), Thomas(White), and Kaman(Biyombo).NOH- Ariza and Andersen for Maggette. Paul, Jack, Maggette, Okafor, Gray.Bobcats trade the aging Maggette for Ariza, who has been stumbling the last couple years and has a longer contract so the Hornets may make this deal, which makes Charlotte younger and more athletic.
If the Bobcats can keep their pick from the first trade or get one from another team in the mid first rounder, I think they would look at shooting guards such as Jeremy Lamb, Brad Beal, Khris Middleton, Terrence Ross, and Doron Lamb.

Bmore_DCParticipant@IndianaBasketball…
it is funny isnt it? but you do agree that he is a good young player and over-paid right? im trying to think of some other players in the league like that…

fastdanParticipantBargnani is a averaged 20 a ppg last year and is 25(?) years old. 10 mil a year for him might be a bit much, but he’s not in the same catagory as Baron Davis in which a team would tack on an unprotected lottery pick to get rid of him. Though I do think he would do well in Charlotte next to Bismack. They really compliment eachother and Charlotte does need offense. Toronto is in need of PG, and with Davis and Valanciunis, Andrea might be ont he way out. DJ and Diaw for Bargnani?

omphalosParticipantI’ve been thinking long and hard about this, because I want the Bobcats to be a successful franchise for Jordan’s sake. Here is my gameplan if I were GM/coach.
1) Kemba Walker is their PG now and for the future. He has a winning mentality, is younger than DJ, and will be a Darren Collison type, who will be productive, if not spectacular. Certainly a starting calibre PG. However, he is not the saviour of this franchise. Trade Augustin for whatever you can, preferably an expiring contract, maybe pair him with Diaw, who needs to go.
2) Charlotte has always lacked a true stud player, they’ve had a few duds, but this 2012 draft is the opportunity to land the big one. As I’ve said, Kemba has to be the last PG they select in the lottery for some time. To this effect, they need to use this chance to develop their younger prospects, regardless of win/loss record. This means I want Henderson, Walker, Ty Thomas and Biyombo on the floor at all times.
3) Henderson is important. This is a crucial year for Henderson; he’s struggled with injury a fair bit, but he’s only 23, and still has great athleticism at the 2-guard position. With Jackson gone, Wallace gone, the scoring has to come from somewhere, and Gerald should be the guy on this team, at the expense of Maggette getting touches. Gerald’s production this year should determine whether they go for a SG or SF in next year’s draft. Even if Charlotte gets a pick outside the top 5, which seems likely, then they’ll still have a choice of a potential franchise changer at either position given how stacked this class is. Beal, Rivers, Lamb are all high potential guys who you could build around at the 2-guard, and won’t crack the top 5 over Barnes, Sullinger, Jones, Davis, Drummond.
4) Assuming Henderson produces, and manages to put together a more or less healthy season, they need to target a SF. PF/C are occupied by Thomas/Biyombo, who should remain there unless the players I mentioned above are available. That said, if Drummond is off the board, Barnes is the way to go. However, let’s assume Charlotte are picking in the 5-10 range, that still leaves Kidd-Gilchrist, who really does have potential as a franchise player OR Quincy Miller OR James McAdoo. Whichever of those two is available, I’d grab in the order listed.
5) Looking to the future, assuming Henderson proves himself worthy of being a young cornerstone (big if I know), the Bobcats have Walker, Henderson, Barnes/Kidd-Gilchrist/Miller/McAdoo, Thomas and Biyombo as their starting lineup. Now, I think Biyombo will bust, but the only C prospect worth taking over him or a SF is Drummond. That lineup has scoring from the PG, SF and hopefully SG position, with a defensive duo at the 4/5. It’s a similar setup to the Thunder, with their main scorers being on the perimeter, but given the right coaching, if that 2012 draft pick pans out and the Bobcats can build some depth using their assets, then their future is pretty bright.
Ultimately though, if I were the Bobcats GM I’d go back in time to the 2011 draft, take Brandon Knight with their first pick, Alec Burks with their second, and hold on to Jeremy Tyler as their project big man instead of foolishly giving him away for money. That Biyombo pick really screwed the pooch in my opinion, whoever was running the 2011 draft was an idiot.

Bmore_DCParticipantthats ur boys Cho + MJ
0 - Posted on: Tue, 09/27/2011 - 6:10am #601679

omphalosParticipantWhen is MJ going to take a scoring 2-guard who is 6’6 and mentor him already. I really thought Burks was the perfect candidate. Instead, he goes crazy over big guys. Really don’t see how Biyombo is going to be anything more than Okafur.
