If you could pick any two players in the entire league to start a team around…. who would the pair be? more importantly WHY? how do u think they would make each other better? Would your answer change if it was only for next season?

maybe think about this one before you go to bed, and then tell me in the morning. this is harder than you think because they have to make each other better.

I’m thinking maybe CP3-Dwight just so that I could see that alleyoop 3 times/game (also considered Amare-Paul). They’d also STEAL and BLOCK a ton of shots…. and they’re both still young. That’s not my final answer though.

If it was for next season only I’d take KG and Dwyane Wade….Best Defender + Best Closer

    Final Answer:

I’m going with Dwyane Wade and Dwight….. I don’t even really think that these guys would make each other that much better, to be honest. I just don’t know if I can see any team beating a team that has those two guys on it….

JUDGE ME! and leave your own thoughts….

If age is a factor I’m taking Chris Paul and Kevin Durant.
In my mind I truly believe Kevin Durant will be if not better than on par with “King James.” Their numbers are fairly close in totals and despite the age difference I think Oklahoma is headed in a better direction than Cleveland. Chris Paul is a no brainier. He’s the best point guard this league has seen since Baron Davis had fantasy dominance. Neither are overly selfish players and could play a balancing act together instead of individually taking over a game.

If age is not a factor I’m taking Kevin Garnett and Kobe Bryant.
Theirs not two other players I’d want to have the ball in their hands when the seconds are ticking down. In my mind the two greatest players of my generation. Both will easily go down as 50 greatest players of all time if not higher. Amazing Basketball IQ’s on both ends of the basketball court.

    Deron Williams and LeBron James.

Brute strength, unstoppable, great passers, great slashers, tough, will never be backed down, young.

Both are unselfish enough to play off each other and neither has any real weakness.

HM: (Derrick Rose, Dwayne Wade, Kevin Durant, Dwight Howard)

    Hustler:

I think Howard would be better paired with a shooter.

    Auber:

    Size/Strength issues?

    mikenike:

Hard to argue with but they do play the same positon…

for me ? i think Lebron at the 2 or with K.D paired with him even the 1 a K.D and LBJ combo would be soo overwhelming on D it wouldnt even be funny. Lebron is constantly attacking and K.D is burning u from anywhere possible COME ON

Good point hustler, just dissecting everybody’s choices.

Your team would be attempting (and missing) a WHOLE lot of free-throws.

    K.D – Number 1 Option
    Pau- Perfect Number 2.

No, but I just wanted to see what would happen since everyone is so down on Dirk. I wouldn’t take him, but yeah…I actually do enjoy watching international players. Durant…is because he’s young and a great talent. Why wouldn’t anyone take him? I’ll take him for the next decade barring injury. Most of my favorites are international, but I will say I hate Dirk and Parker. Both international. I have reasons. I think Dirk is too soft, but i’m not going to take anything away from him. Dude has had a fabulous career. Sorry if that’s so wrong…

I guess…haha good point. I’ve said before, I’m no racist…but I seem to enjoy the game of International Players rather then Black Players. International…seems like they have a variety of styles and each player plays differently.

I would choose Durant and Howard because I think Durants outside game would greatly compliment Dwights inside game. Both are also two of the younger superstars in this league and are only getting better. I don’t think Wade is a bad choice, I would just go with Durant because I think he is gonna be a special player in this league. I also don’t think you need to pick a point guard if you can choose any player in the league. Look at the Finals last year, the starting point guards were Rafer Alston and Derek Fisher.

there is not really a young dominant inside present in the league now dewight has no post up moves right now so i would go with a pass first pg in CP3 but he can carry the scoring load as well and keven dourant hes a stud

LeBron will make Josh Smith a better player in terms of offensive awareness… LeBron will keep Josh’s head in the game and scold him if he makes any attempt of those horrible three-point shots… They will complement each other because both love to run and gun… They will take turns taking advantage of their super-freakish athleticism lobbing alleyoops that light up SportsCenter every night… LeBron James will have a great sidekick in Josh Smith and LeBron will be a better all around defender with J-Smoove helping him there… Those two would be soaring high all night long and would be hard to stop at times.

This is in my mind a crazy idea, but with the economic problems we have the NBA could do a fantasy draft in like 2015 to mix things up. Call me crazy, but I thinnk a fantasy draft would benefit the league for not only the economic reason, but there would be more hype, and maybe more fans, etc. It won’t happen, but what if the NBA did a fantasy draft.

I would take LeBron & Dwight Howard. This is easy. Two great defenders. LeBron is the best player in the league while Dwight is the best Center. That would be a deadly combo. You could surround those two with 3 other descent nba starters and they would win it all.

LBJ is not a great defender, IMO…His pure athleticism/size makes him an average defender, but I haven’t really seen much besides that. Getting steals doesn’t make you a great defender.

Gatorheels, why do you think he’s such a great defender?

LeBron is a great defender when he wants to be. He has the size & athleticism to guard multiple positions. I have seen him get lazy some though mainly because he has to do Everything for Cleveland. Still I think he is the best all around player in the league so I would have to take him. LeBron is a good shot blocker too. Howard is a legit Center which is hard to find these days.

I got Kevin Durant and Pau Gasol. I think their both underrated defenders and would prove something on that end. On offense you have the 2 most polished players in the league when it comes to scoring. Plus they’re both good passers for their positions and would be able to create for eachother and play off eachother as well.

Dwight Howard ( big time center is hard to find these days ) rebounding/ shot blocking machine and a 20 plus point scorer without a lot of post moves ( hopefully when he learns a few he will be a truly dominant force)

Derek Rose – there are a lot of point guards rated above Derek Rose, but for building a team, im going for a young, talented, and athletic point guard to lead the team, only in his second year Rose will be around for a long time and improve greatly

Lebron and D-Wade. That might be the best duo of all time. No need for a great Pg since they are both effective with the ball in their hands. You can fill out the roster with scrubs and they would still dominate.

I dont think Howard is dominant enough to pick him right now. I considered Paul or Rose but like i said there isnt much need for a great distributor. Durant is good but you cant go wrong picking the 2 of the top 3 candidates for MVP.

hmmmm i think id have to say kobe and lebron. kobe now is more willing to pass and is the closest thing to jordan while lebron is a better pippen and is very unselfish:)..cant go wrong with the 2 best in the game..then just add a pg and a banger center who blocks shots and gets you maybe 10 a night and a rebounding big man who can hit midrange( haslem) some shooters off the bench and there ya go

KD and Rose are a good duo but do you ever think they could beat Wade and Lebron? Yes they’re a few years younger but I dont think they have a chance for 8 more years when Wade and Lebron are on the decline.

Wade is a beast and he should of got mvp this year and lebrin is just a freak of nature i think lebrin is actually 6’9 rather than 6’8 and he weigh like 265. Yeah want nobody stop them two but when d rose and KD are the same age want nobody stop them either.

i think only one other person mentioned this combination…. Kobe (the best player in the world!!) and KG (the best interior defender!!) this is a no brainer if ur talking about putting a team together right now….

if ur looking for future greatest u’d have to have L. James (the 2nd best player in the world) and D. Howard (the ‘last of a dying bread’)

can i ask why everyone is so high on k. durant?? yes he can score…. but isn’t there something that just reminds u of TMAC with him??

I’ll take Howard and James. Howard is so valuable because of rebounding, blocking shots and scoring. Factor in his age, and the fact that no dominant centers are in the pipeline. Howard is the guy who would be most difficult to match-up with in terms of size/talent. James is either the best or 2nd best player in the game and can carry a team with marginal talent a long way. He does it all and will get better. His age makes him a must have.

For one year, I would take Kobe and James. They are the 2 best players in the game and could compliment each other. Just need a pass first point guard and an enforcer/rebounder. A title is there for the taking with a bunch of decent role players.
