If Andrew Wiggins had decided to go to Florida State, do you think he would still be the consensus #1 pick? Instead of playing with 3 NBA prospects (Embiid, Selden, Ellis), he would be more of the focal point on offense and I think he would probably average 20 per game. Despite our disappointments with Wiggins at Kansas, he is still leading the team in scoring with 15.2 per game. I think we all would be more impressed with him if he chose Florida State.

Not sure where you are getting the STILL be the consensus #1 pick because he isn’t. He is a lock for top 3, but he isn’t a lock for #1 anymore. But if he went to Florida State then I think he would be much more impressive and he probably wouldn’t be so passive on offense. I think you are completely right with saying we would all be more impressed. Would Embiid have gotten so much attention if Wiggins wans’t there? Interesting topic.

That’s the big thing everyone is losing sight of.  Durant went to a weaker Texas team and got to show case himself.  I feel if Wiggins had gone to Florida State, his team would have sucked but he would be the consensus #1 pick because he would be averaging something like 23 a game.  To me, he still has the highest upside in the draft.

Or he would have been forced to attempt to carry more of a load and try to do to much, portraying even more of his flaws. This might have been a positive for him being forced to be more assertive.

I think his stats would have been a bit better, but I feel Wiggins could get more shots if he wanted to in his current situation. Last night against TCU he played a great game, 8-13, but more importantly got to the free throw line 10 times. This is what Wiggins needs to do to reassert himself as a potential top pick in this draft. He needs to start playing like this consistently by being aggressive.

I dont think he wouldve averaged 20ppg at FSU.  In fact I think he may have averaged less.  You guys must not be familar with FSU and Leonard Hamilton.  Yes, they are averaging more points this year but thats due to the roster.

Hamilton’s biggest issue in the past few years has been the ability to generate offense.  Still they have been a good team because their defense is stellar.

I think they wouldve designed this team around Wiggins and he wouldve averaged between 14-17ppg.

That being said, he wouldve been more of a consensus for the top pick because his defense wouldve been glorified even more than it is now and his offense wouldve looked more sure because his role would be more clear without Ellis, Selden, and Embid around.

Remember, FSU is known for having high caliber defensive players such as Singleton and Snaer.  Wiggins wouldve been the next.  DBOY of the year without question in the ACC.  Plus think of him against Parker twice, Fair, Warren, Alexander, Patterson, McDaniel, etc…

he wouldve had a chance to square off against top level scorers night in and out.  he wouldve had a chance to take assignments such as Ennis in crunch time.

I wont say he made a mistake in going to Kansas, everything is for a reason.  I believe at FSU he may not have had a better team but he wouldve been seen in a better light as an individual player.

Thats what makes him who he is though.  A Team Player.  He went to Kansas obviously to learn things from Self that he didnt think he could from Hamilton.  Likely on the offensive end.  The part of his game that he and the people close to him felt he needed most work.
