Think best case Scenario. Embiid is a beast. They land Simmons & Murray. Etc.

Assuming all these high draft picks land them a boatload of all-stars…and they win 3 straight championships between 2018 and 2022.

Would you respect them…or loathe them?

I am not sure they are guaranteed to win anything.  

Right now clearly its difficult for Okafor and Noel to play together.  What to do about minutes with Embiid and Saric.  Saric and Simmons appear to be kind of similar game types, although athleticism isn’t close.  In that scenario the only guard they’d have in a guard dominated league is Jamal Murray.

Are Jamal Murray, Tony Wroten, Kendall Marshall, Nik Stauskas, and TJ McConnell good enough to win you a championship with that front court.

I don’ think so.  meaning, somewhere along the line some trades are going to be made.  Some craftsmanship is going to be required to make htis team gel.  As great as Shaq and Kobe were, you still needed Horry, Fox, Grant, Parker, Fisher.  

There is still a lot of building required and its not as simple as acquiring generational talent.  So yes, if they can find the mold to put together 3 straight chips, you respect them, just as you respect any dynasty.

I apologize for messing up your "lets play make believe" thread, but Philly is torched you really think Silver is gonna let Simmons go to Philly? I know the NBA "lottery" is a game of odds, but something tells me a highly marketable player like Simmons wont head up with the 76ers which currently are a dumpster fire..

 I would honestly respect them…even though I despise Sam Hinkie as a person (something about him, I get a strong weasel vibe but I could be completely wrong), he has gotten exactly one thing right about the NBA: You have to have Hall of Famers to win championships. Only one team in modern history (Pistons) have broken the mold. Not all-stars, not your personal favorite players on each team, not even so-called "superstars". It’s gotta be first ballot hall of famers, the legends of the game. That’s what wins, and that’s what Hinkie understands more than most people.

A healthy Embiid gives them everything Noel does on defense with the added offensive skill set. They should keep Noel until Embiid can prove to be healthy for a season or two, and then look to move him if Embiid turns out to be impressive. The rest of the pieces around those four guys should fall into place through second round picks, free agent signings, etc. Wroten and Covington wouldn’t be too bad to keep around, along with maybe Stauskas.

2020 is the earliest the Sixers will be factor in the East the way it looks. If they do land Simmons and Murray which I have been hoping for since the summer it will still take them time to devolop. In 2020 Simmons would be 23 and the other key players would be around 25 but they could be primed for a nice run as LeBron is finishing up his career.

Hopefully over the next few years they can add some decent veteran pieces for a reasonable price. They need some leadership coming from someone who is not the coach. The way the NBA is set up with restricted free agency the Sixers will be able to keep whoever they want for their first two contracts. The players seem to stay together and buy in so I would imagine as they improve and bring in more talent they will be fine it will just take time.

If they became a dynasty the most impressive thing would be the mental aspect, to tank for years but maintain a winning attitude and hunger for success. Whether it will actually happen is highly debatable but thats not the point of the thread. 

Having said that they would be seen as villains by a lot of people, if only because the sheer amount of talent would seem almost unfair if these guys reached their potential, and any Philly fan would be labeled a bandwaggoner, which sucks for the real Philly fans. That’s my only pushback everybody downs tanking, but I haven’t seen one person come up with a viable solution to helping teams who can’t pull on top name free agents, or play in a small market.
