I personally wouldn’t do it because the reason to get CP3 would help Oden’s game out a lot more. CP3 could be throwing lob dunks to Oden in every possession. Plus it is very hard to win in the league without size. To me everybody but Roy and Oden can be traded.

Id have a very hard time doing it, I think Chris Paul would mske him a much better player.

Id defineetly be willing to part with everyone except Aldridge (gets too much hate, Roy, and Oden.

    Heres a trade idea.

    add two first rounders

And the rights to two of our overseas players.

You would trade LaMarcus Aldridge? He is a very important player for Portland. Choosing Aldridge or Oden is hard because Oden is injury prone, and doesn’t have the mid range game like Aldridge.

Great point, obviously Roy can’t be traded because he is their star and first option but even though Oden has yet to play a full regular season and has been plagued with injuries he still has potential and if can remain healthy would be an essential part of the Blazer’s success, having Paul on the Blazers would benefit Oden greatly making the offensive end easier for Oden and allow him to focus where he excels mostly which is the defensive end, plus the Blazers have so much depth I am sure they can package a couple serviceable players in exchange for Paul.

Although he doesnt play 2 much minutes, Oden posts a similar PER to Roy when healthy, I would be surprised if POR traded him.

I wonder if he will get that contract extension as POR already has a large team salary…

I wouldn’t have any problem moving Oden if you get a superstar like Paul. They’ve been a 50 win team without Oden really tbh for Blazers fans they should just expect Oden will be oft injured for the rest of his career, anything more should be considered a blessing. Oden is just injury prone IMO if you can move him for a good player you should do it instead of letting him get hurt more and waiting till he has zero trade value. IMO with his injury history it’s more likely he continues to struggle with injuries than he ever becomes an All Star. For someone who’s strength’s are shot blocking and rebounding knee injuries have got to scare the crap out of you.

Ok, first off, the Blazers would be ten times more willing to part with Aldridge than Roy. Roy is one of the best players in the league and he’s a fantastic leader. Aldridge is very good, he’s a great young player, but he would be much more expendable if a deal like this surfaced; His numbers are exactly what they were 2007-08 when he was 21/22, he’s a below-average rebounder for his size, and he’s a bad defender (averaged a career low 0.6 blocks last year). Seeing as how he has not been developing as expected – he’s stagnated – I don’t understand how you could justify trading Roy over Aldridge. Roy is the heart and soul of that team and a much more well-rounded player who happens to produce more, even if he doesn’t have Aldridge’s supposed ‘upside.’

I have been an Oden fan for the longest time, but it’s becoming hard to defend him lately. Seeing how they now have Camby (who DOES rebound and defend his size) who meshed well with Aldridge down low, I think Oden would certainly be expendable if the Hornets demanded him in a deal for CP3. Consider that this Blazers team won 50 games last year (7 less than the Lakers) when Roy, Oden, and Batum (who’s going to be great – they turned down the #4 pick for him) missed a ton of games. Even if they stayed put and their young core continued to develop, don’t you think they could add 5-10 more wins when healthy? Adding CP3 and dealing Oden would be low risk/high reward based on Oden’s career; based on his career, they might as well be giving up nothing in return for arguably the league’s best PG.

I’m not a huge fan of Aldridge due to his lack of presence in the paint. He has not impress me that much for me to say I would want him on the team long term. Then again if Oden is healthy then Aldridge inside game wouldn’t matter as much.

If your New Orleans, I think they should get back Aldridge.

Aldridge is not as safe as many people think, he was in talks of being traded twice already. I think New Orleans should ask for

Claver, Batum, Aldridge, Bayless and a couple 1st for Paul and Okafor

I doubt they trade Batum considering how many times they’ve stressed he is going to be a big part of their future and they have high hopes for him but with their depth I am sure all the other players you’ve mentioned such as Claver, Bayless and Aldridge are players they wouldn’t mind trading for a big time superstar such as Paul.

They offered Batum before the Draft for Paul. If your New Orleans…Why not ask for him?

Is Batum that good that he could stall a deal for Chris Paul? That’s the question Portland could come to.

so if they trade claver Aldridge, bayless, fernadez and 1 or 2 future first rounders for paul and Okafor, the blazer would look like this

    PG: Paul, Miller, A johnson
    SG Roy, Matthews, E Williams
    SF Batum, Babbit
    PF Okafor, Camby
    C Oden Przbilla

that team can play tough against the lakers

I think the current Blazer’s team is good enough to contend this year, and I thought it was also good enough last year if it weren’t for injuries. This team is one of,if not the deepest team in the league, they just need to get everyone healthy come playoff time, specially Brandon Roy. A healthy Brandon Roy,Greg Oden, Pryzbilla would have beaten the Suns(who made it all the way to Western Finals) in the playoffs this past year.

Are you stupid? It is Chris Paul. Greg Oden has played 82 games in three years. If you deal for Paul, you are taking Okafor, so don’t worry about the size. A team cannot overpay for a superstar. Forget the nonsense threads where ten bad Knicks go to New Orleans for Paul, those won’t happen. Young talent like Bayless, Oden, AND Batum can center a deal. They will have to include the expiring deals of Miller and Przybilla. If you want your Blazers to compete for a title, you realize that you could be getting the gift of all gifts. You don’t pass it up for Oden and bunch of role players.

I’ve said it recently… The Blazers can put together the best package for Chris Paul.

They have the young pieces and expiring contracts to put a deal together.

It’ll be interesting to see if they’d throw Oden in the deal though. He was clearly KP’s guy, so it’s possible.

If im portland ROY & Aldridge are the only 2 I dont trade. Those are their guys, they were drafted together & grw into all-stars together, that is the foundation to your 50 win team, now I would trade sam booie jr, i mean greg oden,Nicholas Batum, & Joe Przybilla’s 7.5m expiring contract, with maybe 2 1st, maybe you make it a 3 team deal & find someone to take andre miller, but this leaves you with your 50 foundation of Roy-Aldridge,& you add the best PG in the game to that, they still would have a young core group in bayless, babbitt, mathews, fernandez & cunningham, & they still have a vet pressence in the middle in Camby who is still a great defensive player. But i dont know if this is enough if im NO cause they are giving away their franchise.

Aldridge has never been an All-Star.

I don’t think Aldridge is untouchable. I’ve watched a lot of Portland the last few years and after most games have ended… I always have the feeling that I wish he did more.

With his length and athleticism, he should be a better defender and rebounder. He doesn’t block a lot of shots or rebound the ball. He’s not an enforcer in the paint defensively or a paint presence offensively either. He’d rather settle for the fadeaway jumpshot than attack the rim and get to the line.

I always like watching Portland when Roy doesn’t play to see if Aldridge will step up and deliver. He rarely does. I seriously think he’s a third option on a championship caliber team.

But still dont you think his numbers would go up ala David West because he has a great jumpshot?

I just think him and Roy need to stay together, they were drafted together and are cornerstones of our franchise.

I’m thinking long term here. Just because its CP3 doesn’t mean sacrificing the team’s future. Unless CP3 signs an extension then the deal would be horrible for Portland. In two years CP3 leaves, Camby retires, Joel would be gone which means no center beside Okafor. The team lost all its depth for a point guard that might leave after his contract runs out and the Blazers won’t have any cap space with Okafor’s contract.

i would always take production over potential, especially when your potential is soft physically and mentally. Everyone expects Oden to be the 7 foot Bill Russell but his kind nature on the floor gives me serious doubt. Hes had major injurys all three season in the NBA and the wrist injury in college. I’d definatly give him up for a chance to get the best PG in the league right now.

The bottom line to me is if the the Hornets are trading the Best player on either team (Chris Paul), how can it be justified for Portland to list any player from The Blazers as “untouchable”? If I’m the Hornets and Portland doesn’t make an offer I like I move on to the next team. A team should have to make a great offer to get Paul.

All player contracts runs out at sometime… as a GM you can’t improve if you are afraid to lose players. You have to show players that you are willing to bring in the “best” players. Depth only gets you to the playoffs (see Mavericks) talent give you a chance to win championships (see San Antonio). Point being any time you have a chance to bring in a Chris Paul type player you do it, however you can and find ways to surround him with talent later..

I think you could package Andre Miller, Fernandez and maybe Bayless to the Hornets for Paul, plus a few first round picks or something to sweeten the deal. Fernandez will relish the chance to start at the 2, Miller will provide a veteran presence for Portland and Bayless could grow with Collison to provide the depth at PG for the future. I don’t see Aldridge being traded because as has been said, he and West are very similar, so I can’t see why they would want an overpaid (worse) version of their own player.

As far as Oden goes I’d give him up, they already have a legitimate 7 footer in Joel, and Camby provides interior D.

Starting lineup of Paul, Roy, Batum, Aldridge and Joel P with a bench of Camby, Babbit, Wes Matthews and Armon Johnson/Patty Mills could compete with the Lakers, and I daresay Miami too.
