DanEboyParticipantDo you guys think that if LeBron wins a ring this year he would consider entering the dunk contest next season? He always hints at entering it, but one of the main reasons has to be the scrutiny he would get if he didn’t win it. Although I find it hard to believe anyone would care, even me. With the pressure off him for winning a ring, maybe he would be open to doing it.
And in doing so, maybe he could recruit some other big names to join him like Westbrook and Wall.
And no more fucking props either! Just dunks.

llperezim one of the few people who was not let down by yesterdays dunk contest in the slightest becasue i have given up on it a long time ago. Im way more surprised if it actually entertains me then if it doesnt. WIth that said, i dont care if lebron never enters it and i dont see him doing it simply becasue so many want him to and he seems like he tries to be different and piss people off who judge him.

Chilbert arenasParticipantTHANK YOU! NO more props and gimicks. And no more tribute dunks!!! It’s become annoying as hell. Karl Malone was not a dunk contest dunker, why honor him???

DanEboyParticipantLL….yesterday’s contest was awful, c’mon man. Think about the Vince Carter days, those were the best. No props, just vicious dunks. LeBron could bring it back if he wanted to.

llperezvince was the best ever. But then they had that year where they spun a wheel that decided what type of dunk the guys had to do. Then they had nate robinson attempt the same dunk 15 times to win over iguodala. I mean it was just embarrassing to watch. All the dunks have been done. Last year wasnt bad at all, but that was not the norm. This year stunk but i doubt lebron brings it back. Give me the three point contest over the dunk contest any day.

OhCanada-ParticipantLebron has no confidence, hes scared to dissapoint. also they probally wont pay these guys enough and they are holding out until they dish out some cash. Just like the CBA but it is not mandatory that anyone budges. Griffin got his KIA deal through the dunk contest last year and this year he said forget it. Although a guy like Nate Robinson who won it 3 years in a row just did it for the love of the competition it seems, same with Dwight.

DanEboyParticipant^ Which is why I said if he wins a ring this year. His confidence will be up and maybe he could let loose and not worry so much what people say if he has that ring. I really don’t see money being an issue with LeBron. I think Rose would enter it if LeBron did just for the competitiveness of it. The ratings would be ridiculous.
Just a dream of mine to see LeBron, Rose, Westbrook, Wall and Blake again. Maybe even Monta and Jennings too.

QuazedUnicornParticipantI would watch the dunk contest if next years were John Wall, Demar DeRozan, LeBron James and Andre Igudola. I feel that these guys would stick to the more traditional contest. i dont mind props only if its something that doesnt take away from the dunk itself. Like a legends jersey or something.

nick5354ParticipantThe dunk contest is just so destroyed now. All the dunks have been done. It is hard to come up with a new dunk. That’s why they need to use props as it is the only thing that keeps it orginal. If they had no props than it would be boring as because it would just be dunks that have been done before. It’s like the fans have these crazy expectations of the dunkers to do something impossible. They’re only human

NYK2010ParticipantThe dunk contest was a joke this year.
I don’t see Lebron joining in unless a bunch of vets come together and say lets put on a show.
Winning a ring doesn’t really have much to do with it I think.
You don’t really see guys in their 9th season in there.
He def. should’ve been in there a few yrs ago.

GronounoursParticipantI don’t think this is about "confidence". If Lebron entered the dunk contest, many fans would be grateful, and even a decent loss would raise his popularity. Anyway, who thinks Lebron is the clear-cut best dunker in the game? Not too many people IMO. It’s not like he’s going to destroy his image.

mikeyvthedonParticipantBut his combination of size and athleticism makes for some wicked throw downs. He had a couple of dunks in the All-Star Game that were clearly contest worthy, better than anything I saw other than possibly Jeremy Evans’ two ball dunk. I have no idea why LeBron does not enter, I do not think he has too, but it would certainly be cool.
I do not think people cheer for a person to do badly in the dunk contest. If LeBron entered, I think anything he did would be absolutely fine. He is not going to be Michael Jordan or Vince Carter. He also may not have the power of a Dominique Wilkins, but I think he has a touch more grace.
It would be something along those lines and if it were by fan vote, I think he would destroy it. Would be cool to see him enter and I think it would only boost his popularity. When people were calling Derrick Williams "a LeBron James like dunker", he is nowhere close to the real thing. You may like other dunkers more than LeBron, but I guarantee that most probably would have been more interested in seeing what LeBron did versus anyone who participated this past Saturday night.

Tobe BryantParticipantIn the game of basketball, that I have witnessed, no one has impressed me more than James “Flight” White! He could seriously give LeBron a run for his money with that insane long jumping ability. He is RIDICULOUS! A WINDMILL from the free-throw line with ease, grace, and finesse. Every year I pray he makes a roster just to enter, but his window is closing…

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantthe all star game dunks was better than the contest itself

Chilbert arenasParticipantWatch James Whites overseas dunk contests, he goes through the legs from the freethrow line

Wow, I told my friend that exact same list a couple of days ago.

Future_Scoutthe thing here is that i don’t think lebron would want to join the contest full of rookies that can potentially beat him, that would ruin his rep.
he has more to loose than to gain, unless they include players like ^
0 - Posted on: Mon, 02/27/2012 - 9:43am #641817

Chilbert arenasParticipantThose guys are ideal because they are against the prop/gimmick aspect of the dunk contest that I HATE!
0 - Posted on: Mon, 02/27/2012 - 10:07am #641830
Future_Scouttrust me lebron wont enter the contest against the likes of iman shumpert, budinger, D.will in it.
