rickybobbyParticipantIf the Jazz select Kanter with the third pick the Rockets should make a play for Al Jefferson. They might not have the assets the Jazz want but the probably could swing a 3 team trade for him by giving up Scola and more pieces.

Ahkasi ClayParticipantOn one of the chats today ( I honestly can’t remember wich one, i have sat in on atleast a dozen)
It was suggested that Okurs Contract could be worth a late first round pick.

rickybobbyParticipantBut the Rockets are focused on rebuilding and Scola is 31 he aint going to get any younger or that much better while Jefferson who’s only 26 gives us more size and he but up slightly better stats than Scola and has time to develop more and with the right guys around him ( lowry and martin ) watch him become a beast on the low block.

PootyTangParticipantRoll with Scola as long as you can. I know there are plenty of Wolves and Jazz fans on this board, ask them if they think you can win with Al Jefferson…

BloodyCrumpetParticipantDo Deron Williams and Paul Millsap fall into the category of "nothing more"?

rickybobbyParticipantDeron Williams was for only there half the year and plus he wasnt focus and was having troubles with Sloan so he wasnt all there and when he was traded who was there. Milsap is good but him and Jefferson dont fit well in the same starting line up. PlusJefferson would be better at PF with a defensive minded C alongside of him

bloodshyParticipantAs a Jazz fan, I think you can. Jefferson is a quality player with a good team attitude. He’s clearly not a guy that can carry a team to victory. However, he could be a solid #2 or #3 option on a successful team.

rickybobbyParticipantThats why i said pair him with Kyle Lowry and Kevin Martin so the 3 of them can grow and lead the team together

PootyTangParticipantGood attitude? Yes. Skill set conducive to winning? Less sure on that. Not sure if I ever saw him even attempt to play defense. I remember a few 30 and 40 points games of his and everyone was excited, except for that fact that they didn’t win and he gave up 40 and 50 to the opposing PFs
And Kevin Martin might be the biggest loser of all in that deal. Watch the ball movement come to a complete halt as Big Al eats up 3/4 of the shot clock just to launch a fallaway jumper

rickybobbyParticipantHe hasnt had the talent to pass the ball to while in Minny and Utah(besides deron) and plus Kyle Lowry knows how to get everyone involved. And what Star ( not saying Al a star) doesnt hold the ball to score when on a bad team and he’s their best option.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantThe Rockets do not need a fat oversized big man. They need someone that can run the floor with the young legs of Lowry, Dragic, Lee, Martin, T-Will, Jordan Hill, and Patrick Patterson in the future.

OhCanada-ParticipantA team can win with Jefferson, no doubt about it. But what I doubt is if a "losing" team can adopt a winnign attitude through Jeffersons leadership. That would be the goal through acquiring Jefferson for Houston.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantJefferson would be a good 2nd option, but we already have two guys that can be good 2nd options (Martin and Scola). We don’t need to continue adding 2nd options or we’ll get stuck like Denver or Atlanta. Good individual talent but no player is exactly better than the other.
