Here are my thoughts at this points.

I think the Knicks are gonna lock up Amare. Joe Johnson is apparently going back to Atlanta, and everything else is up in the air. If they fail to get LeBron, I don’t think they should force the issue or overpay anyone – with Amare, they’re not getting Wade, Bosh or Boozer. Here’s what I would do. After signing Amare (which I think is very likely), I would sign Raymond Felton. Give him a 5yr/$35 million deal. Last year was somewhat of a down year but he’s worth it; he’s missed 11 games in his five year, and for his career averages 13.3 and 6.4, and he’s still just 25. Amare seems confident Melo and Parker want to join him, but that would have to be through sign-and-trades, and the Knicks don’t have the means for that right now. I would say be content to come away with Amare and Felton and next year go with a starting lineup of:

Felton
Chandler
Gallinari
Amre
Curry

Then you’ve got Rautins, Fields, and let’s say a few fillers, maybe they shell out for a starting SG or a center who they know will play, and they’re right around the cap. THEN, in 2011, Eddy Curry’s $11.3 million comes off the books, and they don’t extend a qualifying offer to Chandler, as they have a number of talented young wings, and Bill Walker is 1/3 of the price – and they sign Carmelo and Samuel Dalmebert (whose value will have plummeted), who can just grab rebounds and block shots. They you’ve got:

Felton
Melo
Gallinari
Amare
Dalembert

That’s just my opinion, might be controversial, but in that you have a career 13 and 6 guy who at 25 has great upside, a superstar franchise cornerstone, a potential-laden 6-10 swingman, a 5-time all-star at the 4, and a center capable of averaging a double-double. Could be a contender.

Sounds good, but with Joe Johnson and John Salmons already off the market, Felton may be a hot commodity and need a richer offer….

I do agree that the Knicks are on a 2-year plan, with or without LeBron. Carmelo would fit perfectly in D’Antoni’s system…. I could see a string of 3 or 4 scoring titles on the way if that happens.

Good plan but I’d definately trade Chandler now or during the season no way you let him walk for nothing.
Dalembert he’s nothing special but he is a shot blocker.

knicks have blown it… but the fans are ever optimistic.

they dont get lebron (or anything significant enough to contend – amare is not enough), everyone in front office is getting fired.

then whoever comes in to replace them will blow their cap space trying to make themselves look good in the meantime.

plus melo isnt coming to a team with amare and raymond felton.. or tony parker.. he is going somewhere to be a winner, or staying in denver and remaining king of the city.

I’m not sure how long the Knicks fans can wait till they start being a playoff team again. All of this stuff since a few years ago is ifs. btw since you can’t sign till the 8th are the players allow to change their minds before then?

Amare , can play center in a run and gun offence

AK47 (any defensive stopper with length), could be the old marion who guards the other teams best player, might be able to get him if Utah want to be under the cap

Galo .can play small/power forward and spread the floor

Andy Rautins/Anthony morrow- both can shoot the ball and run and gun suits them

not sure about the point, jose calderon would be perfect and might be easy to get because he had a bad year last year, but he is someone who is past first and can knock down shots, poor mans nash

But most important dont trade away picks, or give away stupid contracts and over pay players who are spuds

If Melo really was intent on being a Nugget for life.
He would have sign the max contract extention they offered him this summer.
Before he hit free agency next summer. The knicks have a better shot at getting Melo than Bron to
play in NYC.
His wife is from there and it will bring him closer to home.
Parker IDK…. but this summer for the knicks will be a failure, because they been wooing Bron for years now.
I don’t see him coming their nor will they get any of the top free agents but Amare.

At this point all I really want is the Knicks to start winning again and making the playoffs. Which is sad to say seeing how mediocre the east had been. I would rather have Lee cause at least I’ll know he’ll board and play defense, unlike Amare who had to be forced in to it. If they do sign Amare they need a defense/rebound minded center. I do like the sound of Mello In NY, but that’s not gonna happen until next year. I also like the Felton Idea but it’s sort of a bandaid, NY need to draft smart (yeah I know it an oxymoron) and groom a young PG, D’Antoni had to vastly improve this year it’s time to put up or shut up regardless who is on the roster.
