Rudy Gay’s breakout year ,he leads the team from now on, Allen Iverson will get his though trust me.
And What will be the Grizzlies best lineup?
Iverson
Mayo
Gay
Arthur
Gasol0 - Posted on: Thu, 08/27/2009 - 10:41am #206579
Champzilla21ParticipantHaha Randolph off the bench are u kidding me, that would piss him right off, and u dont pay some1 16 mill a year to come off the bench, iverson should come off the bench instant offesne but still will get alot of mins playing the 1-2, i think the best line up is
Conley
Mayo
Gay
Randolph
Gasolwith the second unit being
marcus williams
iverson
sam young
arthur
Thabeet, with carrol getting spot minutes0 - Posted on: Thu, 08/27/2009 - 11:04am #206592
Michael.S.Participanttrue, but they do need a scoring punch off the bench, Ai, Gay, Mayo , and even Gasol can all score in the lineup i put down.

Iceman913ParticipantI think Iverson off the bench with williams carroll arthur and thabeet would be perfect for them beacause none of those 4 players are on the floor to score. Ultimately i just think the grizzlies will have to many scorers and not enough role players but if they figure that out this could be a high 30s low 40s win team, they have talent

flibbenmcgParticipantIf the grizzlies do sign Iverson this is a team in rapid decline. Zach randolph i understood cuz he is a 20-10 guy no matter where he seems to go being sent to a team in desperate need of low post scoring, but Zebo, AI, Gay, and Mayo there is just no way thatll work, they would all just stifles each others ability to score. AI, Gay, and Mayo all need the ball in their hands to be effective as they work best off the dribble.
If AI does sign then Randolph will be their leading scorer.
In a perfect world of no egos the best line up would be
PG Conley
SG Mayo
SF Gay
PF Randolph
C Thabeet
Bench (not in any particular order0
Williams
Iverson
Arthur
Young
Carroll
Gasol0 - Posted on: Thu, 08/27/2009 - 12:00pm #206618

Henry25Participantthere is no way iverson will sign with the grizzlies if he’s comin off the bench. Iverson is the type of player that would rather retire than come off the bench haha, but seriously. Anyways, i think the best lineup for them would be… iverson, mayo, rudy, arthur, and gasol. I know i left off randolph, but u just cant have four guys in the starting lineup who will want 20 shots per game, but realistically i know randolph will be the starter at the 4, thats just my opinion of the grizzlies

jeff416ParticipantOJ will lead the team in scoring then Rudy then either AI or Randolph. If the team didnt care about minutes and number of shots then they have the talent to be a top 3 seed in the west.

sheltwon3ParticipantI see Mayo at the point and AI at the two and Rudy Gay should lead the team in point because he will have two guys that can throw lobs even though they would not normal look for passes. Conley will lead the second unit. Conley is smart enough to know that AI will not be there for long and also if he continues to improve he can get signed a lot by a better team.

Gabereal33ParticipantStarters:
Allen Iverson
OJ Mayo
Rudy Gay
Zach Randolph
Hasheem Thabeet (hopefully starting by New Years)Thabeet’s defensive presence will allow this team to compete on D on a nightly basis. They won’t be great but they will find it easier to play D when a big man like Thabeet is at the rim waiting to swat a shot or make an offensive player change his shot. Let’s remember, this team on paper (without Thabeet) looks like the worst defensive team in the NBA. With the lack of assists going around, no-defense would have been a disaster. Thabeet changes that, among other things.
That said, with Allen Iverson wanting to prove something (he will want to have his team be a playoff team moreso than lead a team in scoring) he will play D harder than he did in Detroit. The leading scorer would then be OJ Mayo, Rudy Gay, or Zach Randolph right?
Randolph and Gay can both light it up on any given night. I am one of the biggest Huskies fans there is. I love Rudy! However, with Rudy still wanting to prove he is a superstar in the league, I think he will struggle the more he “tries”. He needs to relax to be dominant. He doesn’t have that type “A” personality. I know, I watched every game of him since the first time he dunked in a game at Uconn–his first game.
Bottom line: Rudy Gay was one of my favorite players coming in the the league. But my bias will not let me be disillusioned: OJ Mayo is the man on the Grizzlies.
Mayo is the best offensive player on this team. This guy will lead the team in scoring hands down. Even though Mayo will have to guard the bigger backcourt players (while Conley and Iverson guard the pgs) he should find Thabeet’s presence a godsend, and it will translate into him having more energy to do what he does best on offense. Light it up!
I predict Mayo will average over 22 ppg. With Rudy around 20 and Iverson and Randolph in the mid teens.
