MagikKnickParticipantI feel like the 2nd pick is up for grabs..anybody from Beal, MGK, and Drummond can be picked second. Its really going to come down to what the team needs..but these one of the worst teams in the league..so im sure they might need more than 1 position.
So with that being said… if ____ gets the 2nd pick, who do they take?
New Orleans?
Washington?
Brooklyn?
Charlotte?
Sacramento?
Cleveland?
Toronto?
Detroit?

TyroberParticipantNew Orleans? – Robinson
Washington? MKG or Beal
Brooklyn? MKG
Charlotte? Robinson or MKG. Really a toss up
Sacramento? Drummond, Robinson, or MKG all would work
Cleveland? MKG or Beal
Toronto? MKG

MagikKnickParticipantNew Orleans? Drummond, Robinson
Washington? Beal
Brooklyn? Biggest toss up, could literally be any of MKG, Robinson, or Drummond
Charlotte? they need someone to put points on the board…reach for Barnes?
Sacramento? MKG or Robinson
Cleveland? Beal, Drummond, Robinson
Toronto? MKG
Detroit? MKG

MagikKnickParticipantSo, you think a team like Washington, who already has a considerably decent frontline..but a guard unit featuring Maurice Evans and Jordan Crawford next to John Wall would pass on a chance at a legit SG for Drummond?

boffacheeriosParticipant^^^ they would at number 2. Trades can be made if they want beal so badly, at number 2 you take best player available, which right now is a toss up between MKG and Robinson to me and many others.

cuseflynn10ParticipantNew Orleans – Robinson (Depends on if they want the dominant college player, or potential in Drummond.)
Washington – Beal (Pair Wall up with Beal for the long run.)
Brooklyn – As Tyrober said, it’s tough. I’ll go with local product MKG
Charlotte – Barnes (Barnes = UNC product. Basically any player is available to them.)
Sacramento – MKG (Drummond next to Cousins would be nasty, though MKG fills the bigger need.)
Cleveland – MKG (old teammate of Kyrie)
Toronto – MKG (another toss up. Maybe they reach for potential in Drummond.)
I believe that Drummond has the potential to be the #1 player from this draft, but I do think it will take time for him to develop. Hopefully he finds a team where he can get good minutes and learn from a good vet. I personally don’t see him going #2 in many scenarios for a few different reasons, but he could definitely be the prize of this draft.

FearTheStacheParticipantI feel like Cavs have to take Drummond. Too much potential to lose on. Plus, Drummond would be great with an actual PG in Ky

joecheck88ParticipantNene isn’t young and the rest of Washington’s bigs are role players. Everyone is set on Davis at 1 and that is fine but Drummond has been the guy since he was 15. I don’t think he had a terrible year at UCONN considering the year the program had. He is going to be just as good blocking shots as Davis and should be a better post defender with his strength. I am just not super excited about Davis. We have at best 2 dominant Cs in the league and both of their teams were contenders. If I had the first pick Davis wouldn’t be a lock. I think any team would be lucky to lock up Drummond.

SmooveKRYPTParticipantNew Orleans – Robinson
Washington – MKG
Brooklyn – Robinson/Drummond (depending on if they see Lopez as a long term 4 or 5)
Charlotte – Barnes maybe MKG
SAC – Drummond
Cleveland – Beal or MKG
Toronto – MKG
Detroit – Drummond

FUNKYBUNCHParticipantNEW ORLEANS- Drummond (they can use anyone here, don’t know who is staying with the team but Drummond has maybe the most upside)
WASHINGTON- Robinson (they need a banger and a safe pick both. they just traded Young away to give Crawford more PT)
BROOKLYN- Kidd-Gilchrist or Barnes (They can use anyone, depends who stays with the team)
CHARLOTTE- Barnes or Robinson (They can use both. Barnes is from UNC and can score and well rounded on offense and Robinson is safe. kinda screwed if they don’t get Davis)
SACRAMENTO- Drummond (would be hard to stop 2 beasts in the front court that needs help and Cousins is versatile enough to make it work.)
CLEVELAND- Barnes (need someone who can put the ball in the whole and make plays)
TORONTO- Kidd-Gilchrist (someone who can change the defensive intensity instantly needed.)
DETROIT- Kidd-Gilchrist (Tayshaun’s getting old. I would say Drummond but don’t know how spacing would work with Monroe.)
At least that’s what I would take- GOOD, FUN THREAD BY THE WAY!!!

benny15Participantill have a go at it..
New Orleans? – Thomas Robinson – Rebuilding franchise going for the safer more proven player who was a college stand-out. displays the proper attitude and desire to be a good pro. Doesnt posses the upside of a drummond or even a PJ3, but not likely to bottom out either. worst case scenario to me is a nick collison type rotational player.
Washington? – Bradley Beal – To me, most ideal fit for the team. you can make a case for Robinson, MKG or even Barnes, but id rather upgrade the shooting guard spot they have with a prospect whose upside is still considerable. taking the better fit for the system has been benefitting the spurs for a long time. more teams should try to follow that formula.
Brooklyn? – Andre Drummond – Only because i feel they will parlay this pick to orlando to get Dwight Howard who they’ve wanted all along. if they decide to keep the pick for themselves, they can end up making a toss-up over Robinson or MKG wherein i believe Robinson will get the nod since they want to show they’re about getting the best player now so they can compete right away instead of taking a 1 or 2 year high upside guy that they will still develop.
Charlotte? – Thomas Robinson – if they miss out on davis, they still need to address the need for front court depth. Mullens was a very pleasant surprise to them, but he’s a 7 foot perimeter shooter whose very inconsistent on the boards. MKG would also be a very good fit, but im a firm believer that if you need help in every area, you start with your interior working out. even if in the end all Robinson does is push Tyrus Thomas to reaching his potential, i would say its well used pick even though other prospects were missed on.
Sacramento? – MKG – when you have a team as talented offensively as the kings, adding an MKG is very good for both parties involved. someone who can do the dirtry work and enhance the level of the team by doing all the small things and gives you a competitive edge. a young player with an approach and maturity to the game beyond his years, is a definite step in the right direction for this franchise wherever they may end up playing.
Cleveland? – Harrison Barnes – I considered Andre Drummond here but just couldnt bring myself to have him as the second over-all pick when he has an equal if not greater chance of turning into the next Kwame Brown as he does Dwight Howard. Barnes gives the cavs an additional scoring option and an offensive talent they can hone with Irving through the years.
Toronto? – Harrison Barnes – we all know that the raptors have drafted bigs in the past few years, and are looking at next season with 4 rotational post players already with Bargnani, last years pick, Ed Davis and Amir Johnson. if there was a top prospect in the point guard slot, then the raptors might go with that direction instead, but since none are present, they get to address their need for more perimeter scoring and shooting.
Detroit? – Thomas Robinson – a high motor big pairing up with Monroe is idealy the best case scenario. someone doing the dirty work who can not be left alone since can score as well while not hindering his teamates touches.

omphalosParticipantNew Orleans? Drummond; they are likely to lose Kaman, Emeka is getting older and they need some young blood in the frontline, Drummond will be able to learn behind fellow UConn bigman Okafor and one of the most promising young coaches in the NBA in Monty Williams.
Washington? Harrison Barnes; more than anything they need a legitimate second option to pair with Wall, and Barnes fits the bill perfectly. He has a team-first attitude, the perfect skill-set to play off the ball and a maturity which should help the incoming coach win the lockerroom with Barnes’ help.
Brooklyn? I’d roll with Drummond, if they draft Drummond, they will have a potential superstar at the C position who they would use in a package to bring Dwight to the Nets. If Deron Williams decides to leave in the off-season then Drummond is mobile enough to play the PF position alongside Lopez and should help shore up some of Brook’s weaknesses (shot-blocking, rebounds, athleticism).
Charlotte? Harrison Barnes; they need a face for the franchise, have a huge hole at SF and Barnes would complement Kemba, Biyombo and Henderson well as a guy who moves the ball, can hit big shots and spreads the floor. This should allow Kemba to play more of a facilitating role with Barnes and Henderson carrying the majority of the scoring load. Also, marketing reasons make Barnes the perfect candidate.
Sacramento? Andre Drummond or Harrison Barnes; Drummond to provide a viable pick and roll option (Cousins is too slow) and to give them an instant size advantage against almost every team at the PF/C positions, Barnes because that team needs a guy who will move the ball, spread the floor and be receptive to the coach, which Barnes is.
Cleveland? Michael Kidd-Gilchrist; he and Kyrie Irving are best friends, and when you’re in a small-market like Cleveland and have the opportunity to draft a guy who fills a need and also increases your chances of keeping your former number 1 pick in free agency, it’s a no brainer.
Toronto? Harrison Barnes; was tempted to go with Kidd-Gilchrist here, but the Raptors need someone who can play off the ball and shoot it from the perimeter, and Barnes brings all of those things. With Valanciunas coming in and Bargnani/Ed Davis already in tow a big man like Robinson wouldn’t fill much of a need and this is a team which needs to start making playoffs before they lose their best scorer (Bargnani) to age.
Detroit? Michael Kidd-Gilchrist; he’s a loyal guy, and his defensive intensity would help bring back some of that hard-nosed Detroit D they were known for back in the day. He and Knight have both played in Kentucky’s system and given that Knight can shoot it from distance, Barnes’ outside shooting becomes less valuable, giving MKG the edge.
I’ll add Portland? Drummond again, he can be what Greg Oden was supposed to be for this team, a shot-blocking big man who can defend the low block and get out and run. Drummond has had a clean bill fo health his entire life and would be a perfect fit next to Aldridge, because he could take his time developing his offensive game without compromising team success. Also, Portland has their starters at SF and PF set with Batum and Aldridge, and I don’t rate any of the SGs high enough to overtake Drummond here.

PulseGlazerParticipantNew Orleans – Robinson – his work ethic and size would fit in well here, and this is his best shot at becoming a top scorer.
Washington – Beal is the best bet here. His shooting would really open things up for Wall.
Brooklyn – toughest choice. I like Robinson next to Brook, but really, I expect them to continue going all in on Dwight and take whomsoever Orlando chooses.
Charlotte – MKG is needed, as they need a culture shock and adding a winner and defender then playing up-tempo seems smart.
Sacramento – Barnes – a floor spacing 3 is a must for this club.
Cleveland – Beal – they’re closer to the playoffs than most think. Beal and Kyrie’s shooting and versatility are damn reminiscent of Dumars and Zeke and could be nearly uncoverable.
Toronto – Barnes – I like the idea of Barnes with Calderon. Let he, Calderon and Bargs shoot, play of Jonas inside, and send DDR on back cuts.
Detroit – Drummond makes most sense here. Drummond can focus on defense with Monroe there, and then this team is essentially set and just needs to develop.
