OldSkoolBasketballParticipantWhat do you guys think?
0 - Posted on: Sun, 02/21/2010 - 5:47pm #259217
knicksfan7ParticipantI think Curry is the front runner as well, but if Brandon Jennings goes on a tear to boost his averages and wins games as well as getting the Bucks into the playoffs then I think he will get it.

rickyD510ParticipantI dont think Steph Curry is the frontrunner for ROY.

kurtu17ParticipantSo wat happen to tyreke evans…i remember some people on this site were thinkin this guy would eventually be on lebrons level cuz there rookie numbers were similar..i dont think that would happen..but for now i think tyreke will get the ROY…because usually it goes to the person who is scoring the most points…

rickyD510ParticipantThere is some guy named Tyreke Evans thats pretty good, that averages more points, rebounds and assists. Also he can be the first rookie since Lebron to average 20-5-5 and some of the other guys to average that their rookie season aren’t half bad i think their names are MJ and Oscar Robertson

JHong621ParticipantAs much as I love my boy Tyreke, I have to give Curry his dues. A lot of nay sayers will point out that most of his production has come from the absence of Monta Ellis and Corey Maggette. While it is true, while they were both healthy, Curry still put up SOLID numbers. Now, we are seeing what this young man is really capable of. Not to mention, the same arguments can be made for Tyreke (with Martin out for most of the season), and Jennings(lack of Redd = big green light for Jennings volume of shots/responsibility). Right now, I believe it is a two headed race between Curry and Evans. This is no disrespect to Jennings, but he does not have the greatest supporting cast. There is a lot of pressure on him to carry the team on his back, despite being a rookie. This kid can ball, but he is just being asked to do too much. With that being said, Sacramento just got rid of K-Mart, so Evans is now officially the go to guy in Sacramento, while Ellis is back, and Maggette soon to be back. I hope what is happening to Jennings doesn’t happen to Evans, because he is something special. I think Curry proved tonight that despite the huge spot light on Monta Ellis, Curry can still shine, sometimes even brighter. I don’t know why Ellis didn’t think they could mesh, because they just had a big win against my Hawks(much respect). With the ROY being almost unanimous the last few years, I am glad to be witnessing the rise of these future superstars, and possibly the tightest ROY race in a while.

knicksfan7ParticipantI agree with on the rookie who scores the most points, but if a rookie leads his team to the playoffs then they’re much more likely to get the award if they average 15+ppg. Derrick Rose averaged about 3 ppg less than Mayo last year, but won the award since the Bulls made the playoffs.

JNixonParticipantTyreke Evans is the frontrunner, even though Curry has passed Jennings for 2nd. Evans has been better than Curry this season, even though Curry has been outstanding, especially as of late.

kurtu17Participantyeah it should be to the rookie who is leading there team to the most sucess not points…

llperezcurry is far better then i predicted before the draft. But i still have to give the edge to tyreke. Curry still has some consisteny issues as well. Just a few days ago he went 5-21 from the field against the lakers and was hurting his team all game long. But if he keeps putting up numbers, he will make it interesting for the voters.

gregoden08ParticipantAn argument? Tyreke Evans. No question. Stephen Curry is good, but lets be real…Anthony Tolliver can put up good numbers for the Warriors.

rickyD510ParticipantSteph predicted he would be ROY so he’s been trying to pat his stats. Also please dont make predictions of a few games, i’ve watched everyone of tyrekes games and most of steph’s games too

bobbybParticipantIf the Bucks make the playoffs, Jennings will def make it. otherwise i think it is Reke

LawDeeZeeParticipantI think Tyreke Evans is easily the favorite at this point and i don’t think unless he drops off the face of the planet for the rest of the season that there is much anyone can do to take this award away from him, he’s been a beast all year and carrying his team as a rookie, very impressive player
steph curry has been playing really good basketball lately and if you’re one of those people who think he’s played his name at least into the conversation … then i think you also have to admit that with the way the second half of the season is unfolding … brandon jennings has played his way out of it … he’s had too many games where he really struggled! .. you don’t win rookie of the year in one game
0 - Posted on: Mon, 02/22/2010 - 5:11am #259301
quinceyhodgesricky they all want to get rookie of the year and just about every one pads there stats. no one goes out there saying they arent gonna try to get points ast or rebounds. steph isnt pading his stats anymore then the other rookies. steph has been looking good of late but you cant just say he’s the rookie of the year because of that. each player has had spurts here and there and as soon as that happens some think that guy is the new rookie of the year. like i said allstar weekend im not sure who will be rookie of the year because alot of peopel have stepped up. darren collins has been putting up great numbers as well. it should be a pretty good race

Adi JosephYou’ve got to adjust for pace before looking at any Warrior’s numbers. But even if you don’t, Evans has clearly put up better numbers. Factor in that he’s also a better defender and his team has performed better, and it’s a walk.h

MrWoLeeParticipantTyreke as of right now, I mean, we can all agree the dude is an absolute BEAST…but I think if Curry keeps producing the way he’s been, he has a chance, not a high chance, but one nonetheless. Also check last nights Warriors/Hawks game. Dude has 32/9/3 on 13-18 shooting and that’s with Monta IN the lineup…but as of now I still say give it to Tyreke
0 - Posted on: Mon, 02/22/2010 - 5:11pm #259492
quinceyhodgesall i know is on nba tonight and nba tv none of them think its a walk in. they all agree that the race has gotten closer. and sac only has 2 more wins then gs does so its not like they are far apart. these last couple of weeks should be very interesting and fun to watch as they race to the finish line

lalailaParticipantif it wouldn’t be GSW(especially when there where no Ellis and Corey and Randolph) i would say Curry looks like as good as Westbrook or even Rose last year. 15/4/5/2 and looks like he could avg 17ppg by the end of the season…
But 20/5/5 is still historical numbers!
