MKG_AllDayParticipantI still think that he will end up just like Hasheem Thabeet.

TRC1991Participanttwo completely different players bro,Thabeet was supposed to be the next Dikembe Mutombo with his shot-blocking abilities, Drummond is more of an offensive-minded 4/5 combo, I think if you were to be worried, Kwame Brown should be the guy you think about if Drummond were to fail

WolfRobParticipantSeeing him dedicated and motivated is scary. 280LB 19 year old with a 38+ inch vert… are you kidding me?

Memphis MadnessParticipantThabeet did shut down the lane when he played with the Grizz. He was very effective when we played a zone. He blocked a few shots and dunked some but fans wanted him to score big too and put up great stats. Plus, he was a fould magnet. He got a lot of bad calls and was charged with goal tending on clear blocks. He wasn’t great but he was what I thought he was. A project who showed some signs. Now the Grizzlies are looking for a young, fairly inexpensive backup center who can block shots and give you some toughness and athleticism.

JordanC20ParticipantI think it will take him a few years but I see him becoming a good player. He ought to make a big impact defensively right away.

Meditated StatesParticipantWhy risk it. Just a scary big athelete. Wish the Celtics could get that kid. Doc and KG would create a monster.

TyroberParticipantYou realize he should still be in highschool right? He is 19 years old and is nothing like Thabeet.

NihochuParticipantPersonally i really don’t like him , i think he is too immature for the NBA and isn”t skilled enough for an ego like he has. I dont think some one should risk choosing him after he posted a mediocre year purely on potential and athleticsm , a lot of players have been like that and have failed in the NBA. Especially in such a deep draft.
However i understand why people have a lot of interest him and rate him so high. His atheltic ability is off the charts and his measurements are great. Topped with great potential he is a great prospect.
I just think he should wait , or prehaps he knows if he waits he wont be a sure lottery pick , who knows

mikeyvthedonParticipantIs that Andre Drummond would eat Hasheem Thabeet. I do not see the connection. Yes, they both went to UConn. Yes, they both had a lot of questions regarding their court awareness. Still, Drummond is a guy that rips people over his back. He is the DeJuan Blair, not the rag doll getting tossed around.
Andre is MUCH stronger than Thabeet, he is an absolute physical and athletic marvel. Thabeet was incredibly tall and a good athlete FOR HIS SIZE, but nothing remarkable in the least. To me, saying Andre Drummond is going to end up like Hasheem Thabeet has incredibly little proof, other than storyline connections marking each going to UConn.

kngojcParticipantThe difference is that Thabeet was 7’3" and couldn’t do much else other than clog the lane. At least Drummond can clog the land and post his man up relatively well. He will already be a defensive presence early on his career simply because of his freak of nature stature and instincts but he will develop a post game much better than Thabeet did.
