Recently, I have seen many topics discussing: “Steals” and ” Underrated” and “Overrated” players in the 2009 draft. The Answer is this to all questions:

The 2009 draft was a weak draft in terms of players.

The 1st pick in the draft was a projected late lotto pick in 2008
The 2nd pick was a mid to late 1st rounder last year
The 3rd pick would have probably been a top 15 pick at best

This draft as of right now has no overrated players, underrated players, steals. That’s just my opinion but maybe 3 years down the line, I maybe wrong but for now….we must wait

im not sure since a player gets better every year in college usually so someone ranked lotto one year can move up the next and be a top pick after another year. personally i feel this draft will be better then what some so called draft experts think…the same experts who predicted josh smith wouldnt be that good as well as rashard lewis and darko…most of the experts have seen the same or less games then people with the college hoops package on cable. i think alot of these players may not be super stars but are capable of becoming very good /all star players

Jay Bilas the so-called draft expert called Josh Smith a bust right after he was drafted 17th in the 2004 Draft… He didn’t even give a chance to let the kid play in an NBA minute but look who’s laughing now… 2005 Slam Dunk Champ, The intimidator on the defensive end and a super-ultra-freak athlete who highlights the Hawks on alleyhoops and so on… LOL

ok its known that 2009 was called a weak draft.. but that was the prediction, to call it a weak draft is just your opinion as of now. its like all those other topics about all the steals in the draft. but you cant actually know until these rookies play minutes in the nba. you might be right but you could also be wrong. a lot of guys could really turn out into good players.. but they need time to prove what kind of players they will be

dude you cant make that argument about Griffin he improved his game a lot from the year before. and Hardens good he wouldn’t have been a top 15 pick higher. not a great draft class but it has its strengths like point guards.

well most steals are steals for a reason not many people think they will do good but they pop up so i dont think you can sat theres no steals of now or you could say the same thing about very class.

Great guards and the draft very versatile forwards also but the guards are betten the normal.

GREAT TOPIC..IF some of this year’s top 3 draftees.. would’ve came out last year. Blake Griffin would’ve been taken in the top 3..maybe even number 1..BUT Not late lotto..Thabeet somewhere in the 13-20 range..Harden would’ve been taken late lotto..Remember B.J. MULLENS was projected as a top 5 pick in this year’s draft..He went late 1st round.Tyler Hansbrough was projected as a seconder this year..he went in the lottery..even the scouts sometimes don’t get it right..players must play the game 1st..

q haynes shut up. This draft is pretty damn good if u ask me. Blake Griffin is a future superstar, i dont need to wait to know that. This is one of the best drafts in terms of getting a starting caliber point guard. And u have a bunch of player that could develop into stars, such as Griffin, Derozan, Jennings, Terrence Williams, Earl Clark, Harden (will be a very very good 2 guard), Tyreke Evans has a chance to develop into a top point guard imo, Rubio (if he ever comes over). Q haynes u need to stop being the Jay Bilas of this site and selling these players short

I think this draft was pretty weak becuase it is full of question marks. Griffin is the only sure thing, he should be a beast. But Thabeet going second just proves how down this draft was. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say DeRozan will be one of the top players from this draft and have a better career then Harden.

I don’t think this draft is particularly great; however, I think a lot of players this year, compared to other drafts, will end up making teams. I thought the 2nd round was actually pretty strong compared to last years and 07′. You may not have a lot of super stars in this draft, but I could see

Jodi Meeks, Sam Young, Jonas Jerebko, Jon Brockman, DeJuan Blair, DeJuan Summers, Marcus Thornton, Chase Budinger, Nick Calathers, and Danny Green all playing in the NBA in 5 years which is a pretty high number of 2nd rounders to make teams.

You may not have a lot of future HOFers or all-stars coming out of this draft, but I think it is fairly strong as far as depth, I mentioned something about this a few months ago, and someone replied with something along the lines of “So, this is a draft full of bench players?” I think it’s a pretty correct statement, but 6 2nd rounders from 06 are in the league now. 2005 and 2007 have 8 or 9, which is pretty strong, 4 from 04’s second round
When you consider how many 2nd rounders don’t end up making teams, I think 2009’s draft is deep in the fact that, In my opinion, 8-10 guys who were taken in the 2nd round will be in the league in 5 years.

I dont think this draft is weak. It is not as flashy as some and there are a lot more unknown but most of the unknown has a high potential and most of the player went to place where they will get the minutes to play well.

Pistons personnel director George David said one of the things that left an early impression on him in the evaluation process grew out of Summers’ experience as a counselor at the LeBron James Skills Camp. In after-hours scrimmaging, Summers held up reasonably well against James.

blake was already set to go top 5-10 last year after his freshman year but you think after this past year he wouldnt have gone lotto in the 2008 draft?…im suprised no one else on here caught that. and jay bilas is wrong alot he gets the main ones right just liek any other guy who watchs basketball would.. i never thought josh would be a bust because of his ability. jay tended to down play a couple highschool to pro players ability when they got drafted
