“There was a point in the first half, and I was thinking ‘You better not cry,”’ Roy said. “I mean, serious. I mean, there was a moment where I felt really sorry for myself. Then I was like, nah, you can’t be sorry for yourself. I’m a grown man, but there was a moment there that I felt sorry for myself. Especially when I think I can still help.”

Damn, I feel bad for the dude…

He fought through a lot just to make it in the league, and the dude was a beast..
I was shocked watching the game and seeing the low minutes.

Not to be insensitive to his struggles but the guy got to play in the NBA, made tens of millions, was an all-star and live the life most of us can only dream of. It sucks that he’ll probably never realize his potential but I definitley cant feel sorry for someone who actually made the dream a reality.

Could you imagine this Portland team with a fully healthy Roy? They would have definitely been able to contend to win the West this year.

It’s a shame because of how resillient he has been in the past and how he was able to overcome all of the surgeries and setbacks and still make multiple all-star teams at the NBA level.  It’s hard to watch because he’s honestly a shell of what he used to be and it’s sad how quickly someone can drop from top 15 player in the NBA, to fringe role player.  I loved his game though, he always played composed, clutch, and was a winner from the day he played his first game.  The guy’s a class act, this must be very hard on him, but you have to admire the way he’s still a part of the team and he’s gonna do whatever is asked of him.

The guy clearly cares, you have to respect that. But when you are a guard and your legs go, that is usually the end. It seems like he is getting the right amount of minutes for his current physical abilities.

Roy isn’t what he was two years ago, but he isn’t washed up by any means. He still has a considerable amount of skill.

He should be playing and have more of a role in the offense. I can guarantee that he’ll see more minutes when the series shifts to Portland.

You can’t get on the guy for wanting to be out there. I don’t care what he has accomplished and how much money he has, he has a desire to play. It’s a big fall from team leader and superstar to 8th man playing 17 minutes a game in the post season. Hopefully he can recover.

I appreciate the desire, but I’m not sure if the team is better with him out there. If anyone remembers, Aldridge has exploded with him gone and Matthews has played well in his absence. When he was on the court he did a lot of isolation work…it didn’t work before in the playoffs and I really don’t see it working with him at less than 100%. He doesn’t do well/ refuses to play without the ball and that’s not going to elevate this team. I’m curious as to what his trade value would be because I would cut bait with him. You don’t want to end up like Houston with McGrady and Yao, Washington with Arenas, or Milwaukee with Redd and have a guy you are paying tons of money, always hoping he is going to make a full recovery.

Its a shame. Roy is one of my favorite players in the league for alot of reasons. He is a guy who has predicated his game on skill and smarts rather than athleticism and flashiness. He’s always been a down to earth type of personality and has never been in the media for something negative. And everytime I watch him, I like to pretend the wolves never traded him and he would be winning games for us instead of Portland.

Is it just me or does anyone else want to see him get traded? To be honest I would take Brandon Roy and any problems with his knees over Kyle Korver. Sure Korver has been great this season but the biggest hole for Chicago is it’s shooting guard.. Could Brandon Roy (and a possible trade) be the answer to a power house Chicago team?

should ask for a buy out and then resume his career else where I mean Portland’s medical staff is the worst in the leagye right with GSW ask for buy out this year and sign with a team like Chicago, New York, Indiana or the Lakers

Brandon Roy needs to get healthy as much as his knees allow him to, then give Grant Hill a call.

I think a lot of players take their careers for granted, i love to see brandon roy wanna help his team the way he does now, and in last years playoffs. but at the same time it sucks

Roy should have listened to Grant Hill.  If he would have rested and not try to return for a playoff game last year or either the year before, he may have gotten enough time for his body to recover.

Also he may not be a good fit for this team as currently put together because they have played really good without him.

I dont feel sorry for him because this is life and reality and it not the end of the world that he did not play.  I feel for the people in Japan.

It’s sad that one of the top players and a class act has to go through this. But one thing I am curious about, is I was reading a yahoo article that was talking about him not being given minutes, but I always thought that his medical doctors restricted him to play a lot of minutes. It sounds like he is able to do the same things, he just isn’t being given his role back.

No way aamir. I can gaurantee that article is BS, I mean when he was playing injured he was still hitting big shot after big shot. He made his team better and was the undisputed leader. They are a good team without m but much better with him.

There is something fishy about that Portland training staff.  Their players always seem to be unable to recover as quickly as players from other teams.
