MopgrassParticipantLeBron James is probably the best player in the universe. I should want him on my team, but I really don’t. I’m reading all these rumors today about him going to the Lakers. Why?
Let’s say the Lakers sign him and PG13, and somehow ditch Deng’s contract to sign a quality free agent… it’s still not a good enough to win a championship. You need outside shooting and the Lakers were one of the worst. They would have to make dizzying amount of moves to fill the team with shooters. It can’t be done. LeBron would be disappointed if he didn’t get a championship, LA would get it’s hopes up… it’s bad for everyone.
I’d rather see the Lakers go homegrown and add great players after their players are established. It worked for Golden State.
If I’m LeBron, I only consider the Rockets, 76ers, and Celtics. Those teams are on the rise like LA, but they’re way closer to contention.

r377ParticipantLebron is so ball dominants, he needs good 3 point shooters around him.
The Lakers will be so stripped, Ingram, Ball, Kuzma and a few others. Even with Paul George how is this lakers team with a core of young players any better than the current Cavs team ?
Lebron has gained alot of respect for going back to the cavs and taking them to finals, i really hope he doesn’t go to the lakers

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI understand your concerns and believe me, I share them to some extent. Would a similar version of last years lakers roster plus lebron and George really be able to compete with golden state? Idk. Would lebron force the lakers hand to make moves that would hurt the team long-term to satisfy him? It’s possible. Is it the smartest move for him from a pure basketball standpoint? Debatable.
But this is still LeBron James we are talking about. He is the greatest basketball player of his generation and he is currently playing at arguably the highest level of his career. Whatever his motivations are, if he comes to LA they become instant contenders, and that’s something this franchise hasn’t been able to say in a long time. The lakers have worked long and hard to clear the necessary cap space to make this happen and if he really wants to come, you better believe he is going to be welcomed with open arms.

HobbyOGParticipantSpeak for yourself, as a Laker fan I’ll take Lebron! We not competing for a playoff spot with the current roster anytime soon. Say we don’t get Lebron and just get PG. What’s he going to do for us??? He’s a 2nd option at best.

Memphis MadnessParticipantThe Lakers worked out two sleeper guys that I really, really like: Mitchell Robinson and Kostas Antetokounmpo aka Kostas Freak.
Get those two guys (I actually have both of those two really high in my latest big board) and build the slow, old fashioned way (or get KD or AD or Giannis if they switch teams).

HobbyOGParticipantWord on the street is Lakers gave Robinson a promise…would be a solid pickup for them.

marcusfizer21ParticipantIt’s so hard NOT to want LeBron on your team but you can understand why it’s sometimes difficult to have him unless you are a pure shooter. I’ve been watching Cleveland early this year (due to in part that Derrick Rose was there for a short time) and you can tell that players who are used to have the ball in their hands have a hard time playing alongside Bron because 80% of the time, he has the ball. I’m not saying Bron’s a selfish player. He’s not. But you can’t be really effective with him if you’re an iso guy and is used to having the ball in your hands. Kyrie might have been an exception due to the fact that he takes some load off of Bron. Even with Kyrie, Cavs system is more on Bron and Kyrie’s iso play which can be a bit frustrating to watch.
