Celtics3178Participantya I know that none of these things are being talked about and I don’t expect any of them will but would you or wouldn’t you do these trades.
Jimmy Butler for Jaylen Brown and players to make the salary match. As a Celtics fan I say no I think brown could be a star one day and they have him locked up for a few year It’s enticing tho for both teams Kyrie jimmy Gordon Tatum and Al is a battle for warriors. The twolves get Wiggins brown and Kat a very promising young core.
Drummond for whiteside and a pick. Hassan is a good fit next too Blake. Blake played with DJ and can throw the lob to whiteside just like his clippers days. The heat get Drummond a guy whose a more talented athlete but less athletic than White side they get a pick because the heat have been shopping him forever.
The grizzlies trade Conley and Gasol to the lakers for Ingram Deng and Lonzo. The lakers get rid of dent contract and lavvar Ball in one swoop. The grizz get young talent to build around. The lakers get Two solid vets that fit the mold of there FA signings. Guys that live in the gym except these two are much more talented. Lakers keep Kuzma and Gasol is off the books after next year it’s his last chance for another max so the lakers can add a max to play with Lebron Conley and Kuzma.

mowestenParticipantThe most logical of these to me is the Memphis-Laker trade as it gets Memphis younger, and the Lakers get a much needed big and cast aside the LaVar circus.
But the question I have would be with adding Conley to the Laker mix. I think you could, in theory, convince Rondo to split time with a young PG like Ball for the greater good. But would you be able to sell Conley and Rondo on splitting time with each other? I’m not so sure.
I do think Memphis needs to look to move those two. By the time they are good enough to compete, those two may be well past their prime.

Andv1 WaitingParticipantThe celtics trade: Makes no sense for either side really as Brown is on a cheap deal,They will need to pay Kyrie and Butler max money at the same time(both F.A at same time) Twolves need vets to try get that young core to mature as they seem a little unfocused at times…
The Pistons Heat trade: Makes very little sense but the only reason Detroit does this is one less year of a big deal,a little more shooting/better F/T% and Heat do this to get a pick and move on from Hassan who seems to be butting heads with Spo a bit…But I still see this as a no to very slim chance sort of move..
Grizzlies and Lakers trade…This would be subjective to do you really believe you can get someone better come F.A next offseason: Yes you don’t do this trade NO you believe that will miss on everyone then you look at this deal a little closer…
Personally I don’t do the deal as you get older, you get an about the same injury prone level(if not worse) in Mike C to Ball but at 5x the salary..Marc gasol may not be much of an upgrade on what Brook L offered last season for the Lakers…You give up on a young promising P.G that could help extend lebrons career as well…I see why the Grizz would do the deal though: They get younger in Ball and could pair him with Jarren J,Shed more salary and Deng is easier to stretch that 50 mill (both Mike and Marc). If Ball was to move and is healthy I would prefer he goes to the Suns for anyone not named Ayton and Booker. + a pick or 2..

The GoatParticipantWouldn’t do most of them. Id probably only say yes if i ran either the Lakers or the Wolves.
Conley, LeBron and Gasol on the same team would be a nightmare for virtually everyone. They are savvy, selfless and have win at all cost attitudes. They are high character, high IQ players that would be outstanding defensively. Kuzma and KCP would fit in nicely around them. The Lakers also save millions in paying Deng. I’d do this for sure.
Wearing the TWolf hat, I’d take Brown and his cheaper contract for Jimmy Butler as Jimmy wants out. Brown is potentially the same player a short time from now.
Boston don’t need to pay more in return for Butler. They have wings and if for some reason they move Brown, it should be for a young big man on a comparable contract who can cover any potential injury to Horford.
Drummond and Whiteside swapping places does not make a massive difference to either team. The risk for either is they don’t gel with new teammates and each squad performs worse. It’s an unnecessary trade, a move sideways.
Gasol and Conley are the heart and soul of Memphis and although Ingram and Ball have great potential, they are far from sure things. Its a massive overhaul trading away your two best players as it changes the culture too. I wouldn’t like to put a conference rival in an improved position to win either, so I’d say no to this.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantAs a lakers fan, I would give this proposed trade two giant thumbs down. While I would love to get rid of dengs contract, there is no way I am sacrificing both Ingram and lonzo to do it (2 guys who we still have no idea how good they will be). And if I were to trade both, than the player or players I am getting back better damn well instantly put us into championship contention. With all due respect to Conley and gasol, it’s very hard to see that being the case. Conley is a very good player when healthy but is way overpaid and gasols best years are more than likely behind him.

cohenbc1ParticipantThe Celtics refused to put Jaylen Brown on the table when discussing Kawhi. So I don’t know why they’d do it for Butler.

BeastMode716ParticipantFor the Butler to the Celtics for Brown I don’t think the money works b/c both Butler & Kyrie will be free agents this summer – However, if the money was doable or if Butler would sign an extension I’d do this deal
Here’s why – no one Ever talks about how incredibly important Al Horford is to the Celtics success at Both ends, Horford has had concussion issues & he’ll be 33 by the time the Finals being next summer. It’s not that I don’t Luv Brown & his Rookie deal contract, it’s that the Celtics talent is very spread out in Age.
Horford will be 33, Hayward, coming off a Major injury will be 28 & Kyrie 26 so these guys are in their prime right now – Tatum & Brown need a few years to grow into their peak form – Don’t get me wrong Celtics are set up Great either way – what I’m saying is Butler is a Beast & he might be the pieve that puts them over the top This year!
But like someone above said, Boston would not trade Brown or Tatum for Kawhi & it don’t get no better than Kawhi so
The Lakers trade doesn’t work b/c Lebron has no use for a pass 1st Point Guard & Marc Gasol would just Clog the lane & get in Lebron’s way. I’m sure Memphis would luv to trade the older players & do a Proper Rebuild – However, why in the world would the Grizz take Deng’s horrific contract AND Lavar Ball’s Mouth???
Ingram would be a nice piece mving forward & so would Lonzo to go w/ the Grizz 2018 Lottery pick J Jackson – that would be a NICE young 3 man core but I can’t see the Lakers biting – I know they’d Luv to Dump Deng’s deal & Lavar but they really believe in Ingram fitting w/ Lebron
Finally, the Miami / Detroit Big man deal. Phila already owns Miami’s 2021 Unprotected 1st Rnd pick. I know they want to move Whiteside but they would be Crazy to give up their 2019 – 1st Rnd pick (Can’t be 2020 or 2022 b/c not allowed to trade 2 – 1st rnd picks in consecutive years)
Detroit would LUv a 2019 Miami 1st Rnd pick for sure but Whiteside has really struggled in the modern NBA small ball – The Heat barely use him & Drummond really hit his stride last season – he made the East All Star team, finally developed a decent reliable Free Throw %%% & grew into a team leader. Drummond is not a great scorer but that’s ok in the modern NBA b/c he does Everything else! Drummond plays Def, Rebounds & Passes all at a high level!
Greta post though – The Summer is So boring – It’s fun kicking around these trade proposals!
