There is currently some small whispers going around between the Phoenix Suns and the Denver Nuggets as of late. Those talks have been reportedly about bringing Amar’e Stoudemire to the Mile High City.

Although it is still being talked about, and this is the NBA where in Kevin Garnett’s words, “Anything is Possible”, and also where “Amazing Happens.”

Amar’e has been shopped by the Suns since around the trade deadline, and he has also stressed his displeasure with the Suns management. The Suns are currently in rebuilding mode, yet they go out and resign Grant Hill. The guy is 36 and will be 37 when the season starts.

The current proposed trade would be:

    Nuggets Get

    Amar’e Stoudemire

    Suns Get

    Kenyon Martin

    Linas Kleiza

    Future Draft Pick

    Cash Considerations

Kenyon Martin will probably opt out of his contract 2010 giving the Suns $15 million in cap space. Linas Kleiza is also a young forward who would fit into the Suns rebuilding process.

However, it doesn’t seem to make the Nuggets any better, but it would make them worse on the defensive end.

Kenyon Martin is a better defender then Amar’e at the four spot. He is more physical and isn’t afraid to make a statement. Ask Mark Cuban and Dirk Nowitzki. He shoved Dirk Down in game one of the second round.

Denver has already lost Dhantay Jones, a defensive specialist, and losing Martin, another great defender that doesn’t take away from Carmelo’s and Billups shots would hurt the team.

Sure Amar’e would be a force, but it’s too good to be true. Every plan has it’s flaws. Amar’e, Carmelo, JR Smith and Billups have that scoring mentality and at times take over games. Nene can come up with 20 on any given night as well.

Having the majority of your starting lineup being offensive threats and no defense isn’t going to win you a championship. However, Billups would be able to level out Amar’e and control a starting line up of Billups, Smith, Melo, Amar’e and Nene.

JR has proved that he deserves to start, but I don’t think it should be the case. The Nuggets gave up a key part in their bench, Linas Kleiza and the bench is already weak enough.

Ty Lawson, Chris Andersen and Renaldo Balkmen would be the first three to come off. Arron Afflalo is rumored to be heading to the Nuggets so he would take that Shooting Guard position.

Afflalo should start, and let JR continue to ignite the bench.

Overall this deal should no go down as it may look good on paper, but It won’t work out during the regular season. Again talks are small but they can heat up quite fast.

    2 questions

    – Can I use this on my website?

    – Why would K-Mart opt out?

    -also, what is your source?

Yes, of course u can use this on your site.

I’m not sure why KMart would opt out…I guess he would want to sign a long term deal with a team he likes.

This is the same website that had the rumor the other day about Amare being traded to Atlanta.

I disagree with this article about a couple points. I think Amare would make the Nuggets a much better team overall. Also I wouldn’t start Afflalo over JR Smith ever.

I think this is a good deal if K-Mart would opt.

Affalo is a better defender. With Billups getting up there, having a nice defender in the backcourt is a good idea.

Plus you make your bench stronger. Smith and Lawson are deadly shooters.

    Thank you

It is time for Smith to get off the bench and get consistent minutes. His defense is improving. he respect Billups. Also He gives them a legit 3 point threat on the floor at all time. With consistent minutes he may exceed his already improving production. The could get another player to come off the bench. Also they need to keep Kleza.

why would the suns EVER do this… kenyon martin really???? why wouldnt they just keep the superior upgrade in amare for the season, sign linus kleiza as a free agent and not be the worst team in the nba…. honestly one of the dumbest trade rumors ive ever heard… and the reason amare wasnt known for his defense was because he played with the SUNS… nobody on that team plays defense…. its not part of their plan… even if amare never played a single defensive play it doesnt matter… they have nene for that… 2 years ago nene SHUT DOWN tim duncan in the playoffs… although denver still lost the series..

this would just make the suns the dumbest team ever and steve kerr would immediately be fired as he should be if he made this move…. kenyon martin is an overrated injury prone 4 who has a huge attitude problem that would be the last thing the suns would ever want to see…

The main benefits for the Suns would be the cash that Denver sends them as well as the future draft pick. Phoenix isn’t a factor with Amare so why not trade him to better your future?

I think Amare would be a great piece for the nuggets. I dont see why he wouldn’t want to come in and try to be a Kg or Pau type championship piece to a contender. Im not sure he is gonna get max money like he thinks in 2010, it will be competitive for players and he has developed huge character, injury, and defense issues as icing on the cake for himself. A ring would help his case and it aint commin in pheonix.

Problem is, what do the suns get. The cap relief of Martins contract would cancel out Amare’s and Martin is a far worse player. Klieza is a free agent, so if they wanted him that bad they could get him. It would have to be alot of millions in cash, and probably 2 first round picks considering they wont be lottery for a while. Cash and Picks would have to be the swaying factor, then it makes sense for money and the future and they get 2 solid short term players. That makes sense both ways, if the nuggets are willing to gamble picks for a 1 year run at a title. There are 6 teams that are going to be ridiculous next year, and this might be the neccessary kind of move for Denver to get back to the top.

ARE OLD!!! He isn’t going anywhere, so stop dreaming. I find it funny that fans continue to berate Amare, but yet and still come up with outrageous trades to get himon their team for NOTHING. The Suns are not rebuilding, Nash and Hill is staying. Nash and Hill are veteran leaders that every team needs. The Suns have TWO players over 28, period. Both of those players are studs!! Rebuilding, LOL!!!

    JRich 28
    Amare 26
    LB 26
    Clark 21
    Lopez 21
    Frye 26
    Admundson 25
    Dragic 23
    Dudley 23

Shaq is the only person who left the Suns, who went 46-36, not 29-53…So save it with the Suns talking points and trade proposals, jeez!!

Amare and JRich are the only highly paid players on that list. Nash will be getting a 2yr 20million ext. Grant is getting 3 million!!! They have plenty of money to bring in a FA in 2010 to play with Amare, Steve, Grant, LB and JRich. The Suns are in great position for the future. They don’t want Denver’s future picks, lol!!

J-mac…you must have not been paying attention

Kerr wanted to rebuild. Trading Stoudemire is the best thing to speed it up. Nash and Hill are almost done. Since your signing Nash to a extension, they will try to add a PG next offseason who needs seasoning.

J-Rich Sucks man. He is a dunker and not a guy who noone wants in their future plans. The Warriors traded him for Branden Wright and a couple of earthworms….

The only legit guys on that team are Barbosa, Clark and Lopez. Those are the Potential 3 your gonna build around.

Frye is a 2 years and done, Admunson is a backup at best, Dragic is a combo guard who struggles at PG and Dudley and Tucker (who u forgot) cannot get off the pine

    step it up!

J-mac he just gives a total biased opinion everytime he post something….

I don’t understand how hard it is to realize that the Suns are never going to win a title with their current core. Getting something for Amare is better than getting nothing. Chances are he is gone after this year. If the Suns do resign Amare it wont matter cuz they won’t have enough cash left over to add anybody else significant.

    Rebuilding Time

AROUND Amare. He is 26!!! I know all that goes on in PHX. If Kerr could get dollar for dollar on Amare he would trade him, because they don’t want to pay him. But they are definately are not trading him for garbage!!

Why would you not build around a 26 yr old multi allstart, all NBA PF. Denver draft picks??

    Grow up kids!

BTW, JRich is a bum??LOL! That shows your bias. He may be overpaid, but far from a bum!! Guy avgs 18.6 pts and 5.3 rebs a game for his career, he is 28 yrs old and you call him a bum??? You have no credibility here!! LMAO!!

I guess Gator can’t read. JRich is the only one making money!! Nash will be at 10 million in 2010. Learn how to read and stop with the Suns talking points. Boston did get rid of Pierce did they??

Sorry dude the Suns are not going to have a very good year. Their future doesn’t look good either. Earl Clark is the only building piece they have. Lopez isn’t anything special. Dudley is a solid backup.

Dude is a bum. He was a top 5 pick. He is a bum. He is not a player who you cannot be a legit #2 option. Not at ALL!

he got traded for BRANDON WRIGHT AND A PACK OF LIFESAVERS.

also, Kerr will move Stoudemire. He was rumored in like 4 deal where (kerr started all of the talks!)

okay first thing: kenyon martin won´t opt out next year he will get much more money than on any team that will sign him if he opts out. he will try to get a long term contract but he would be stupid to try in a free agent class like 2010.

and then to the amare talks:

of course there are reasons to build around him but somehow kerr dosen´t seem to plan so. maybe amare will be going nowhere but when you have so much rumor over such a long time then at least some of it has to be true. by the way the wolves traded garnett and the grizz gave up gasol for nothing. both could have tried to rebuild around those guys but like amare they were to expensive and the fancises seemed to look bad over the next years even with them.
and the suns are looking to have a difficult year nash isn´t getting younger shaq was productive last season and is gone and i don´t know about amare´s motivation to play for a team that does not really want him so his defense will be bad again. i don´t see anything that makes me bellive the suns are going to be better than last year and they weren´t a playoff team…

He is way overpaid, and nobody is gonna give him anything close to what he is making. If Phoenix really wants to rebuild, then bringing on an often injured over paid veteran who has a longer deal then Amare would be the last way to go. If they just let Amare’s deal expire, then they can use that money on better talent then Kenyon, Klieza, and whoever they would get with a late first round pick.

gator i really like some of your other posts but this just simply isnt going to happen. ever. the suns are looking to cut money not add it with kmarts bloated contract. and why are earth would he leave 15 mil on the table. it just isnt going to happen. there is no possible way in hell he is going to opt out of his current deal. the guy will get maybe 6 million a year and isnt gonna turn down 15

don’t believe this article guys. it is from bleacherreport.com that website is a compilation of articles written by wannabe journalists that get their sources from the same places we do like espn and other sites. im guessing this is just a made up trade rumor that was done to get attention. there is no way the suns would do that trade. don’t believe new trade rumors that u hear from that site that u can’t find anywhere else.

i agree that martin is a better defensive presence. but the obvious flaws againsts the lakers was a hole at the 4 offensively..even with kleiza.

would be a good offensive trade but i agree with the article about the defense not being that good….i would still make the deal because amare does have the tools to become a good defender
