How would you go about fixing the wolves?

I know the only upcoming t-wolf free agent I would sign is Carney in ’09 and maybe Miller in ’10,( I hope Miller does better this upcoming year so that we could get some decent trade value for him)
I would try buy-out Cardinal and Madsen…. they both suck.
I would consider trading a pick or two for the future. We have 5 picks this year.. 3 in the first round and 2 in the second? do we really want 5 rookies that are coming from a ‘weak’ draft year ?
With the first two draft picks I would go after derozan and maynor with the first two picks.( if available).
I would try pick up some decent players from free agency ( but that would mean the wolves would have to spend some $$)
I would go after villinueva, sessions, davis and/ or gortat. ( these free agents should be fairly cheap).

I think eventually the Wolves need a rotation thats something like:

C Defensive Center (could try to trade up for Thabeet, but I think it’s better to wait for next year and snag Aldrich/Monroe)
    PF Al
    SF Gomes
    SG Foye
PG Draft Pick (I think Curry would be an interesting pick, even if he’s a reach, because he would space the floor for Al)
    6 Miller
    7 Love
8 Draft Pick (I like Terrence Williams, I think he’s versatile and gives the Wolves a perimeter stopper, which I don’t see anywhere else on the roster)
    9 Telfair
    10 Craig Smith
    11 Carney

The Wolves are in great shape as far as their salary cap goes…. as of right now, there are 8 players whose contracts expire after next year…..

All the have locked up for the following year are Al ~ 11-12 mill (Thank you Al for being such a great guy and taking a non-max salary) and Gomes at ~4 mil

      —> thats like 15-16 million… only

All the more reason to make those 5 picks into 2 first rounders so we only add another 5 mil in contracts and then we’re looking at like 35 mil in room……. that sounds like a FA signing or two before we resign Love and Foye under Larry Bird rules……. Chris Bosh in MN anyone?

I would draft James Harden and keep Al Jefferson and go after a point Guard also go after Andre Miller. I would also keep in eye on the second round for Tyrese Rice very under rated for the point guard position.

Go back in time, and fire McHale after 1997. That way hes finished mentoring KG, and can’t screw up the T-Wolves organization anymore…

No, but seriously. Fire McHale, get rid of Randy Foye, draft a true PG with the #6 pick (Brandon Jennings), and build through the draft for the next few years. This team is very young, and has a good core of bigs with Kevin Love and Al Jefferson.

Add a point guard and for goodness sakes get a big who can run and block shots (if Hill somehow falls, nab him and take a point at 18)

I would love for them to get another C or PF that is athletic and can block shots, but there aren’t too many in the draft this year, that’s why I think they should trade a pick or two for next year, where in ’10 there seems to be a lot of C or PF coming out..
They really do need a true point gaurd,, foye is better at the SG than at PG and telfair is….. welll a good backup, not a starter in my opinion.( why oh why did they want tefair.?.. they could have gotten rondo in the KG trade.)

I would like the wolves to take jennings at 6 and possibly Mullens at 18. They really need an athletic centre so Al can play the PF. If the draft goes well, the T-Wolves can be a lot more competitive than in recent years.

I think a Tyreke Evans is the choice here….i really do. Harden is not better than Randy Foye and this is gonna be Foye’s year…..he had a bad year at point, and then was awesome at SG before playing the final two months hurt….i mean dude put up 17 points a game…..he’s gonna be about about 18-19 this year…especially if AL develops an inside out game instead of looking for his shot so much

Love is a keeper, Gomes is a keeper and Carney is a keeper…we’ve got Brewer in the mix and already know Al J is there…Craig Smith is great off the bench too

Evans is an immediate upgrade over Telfair if anything……later in the 1st round, a back up shooting guard would be idea as well as BJ Mullens…he’s a project but could be worth the gamble…..

Package some picks and move up for Thabeet or even Griffin. Look for PGs late.

On insidehoops.com I saw a trade rumor involving K .Love and Memphis. The wolves would get the second pick and a ‘filler?’ and Memphis would get K. Love. Your thoughts? Who should Minni pick if this trade happens?

I heard about that rumor too, but then they said that wolves would give up Love and the 18th pick for the 2nd round pick and keep their 6th. People were saying the wolves would pick up Rubio and hope for Hill. I say, why not pick up Thabeet and not hope for Hill and get Jennings or the best avaible PG at 6th. Meaning, they get all their needs, C and PG. This would work for both teams.

The wolves can then draft another PF with their 26 pick and get a guy like Hansbrough or use one of their second round pick and get Taj Gibson. This will make the wolves a young and talented team, having everyone start to play their natural positions.

    Wolves
    C – Thabeet
    PF – Jefferson
SF – Gomes – (I’ll take Gomes here because he’s a poor mans Battier)
SG – Miller – (Big 2 guard, just needs to shoot the ball)
    PG – Jennings

    Grizz
    C – Gasol
    PF – Love
    SF- Gay
    SG – Mayo
    PG – Conley

Both teams would have a better upgrade at all positions for their stating line up. Why not Memphis?

I really don’t like Foye, I don’t know why people think he’s so great. He’s best bet is to come of the bench as the 6th man playing either pg or sg for the second unit. That would be the best role for Foye, don’t see him as a starter. If anyone does, please let me know why because I don’t.

Word is going around that this trade involving Jefferson & the #6 pick for Amare’ is true. Has much as I hate to see this trade go down, I do not know why they would trade Jefferson & their pick for one guy. You never know that with that #6 pick, the T-Wolves could land a solid rookie. I hope that they don’t it along with Big AL.

Wolves want Thabeet badly. Love + Telfair –> Thabeet + cash or someone cheap, but I think Memphis take Rubio and trade him with Warrick for D.Lee (sign&trade). Wolves want to have a great 7’0 defensive player. maybe sth like this. Miller + 28th pick –> J.McGee + 5th pick (Harden) + Stevenson or sign M.Gortat who is very good defensive player, great shot blocker, rebounder and very fundamental guy. (10mln$ for 3 years). if not they propably take: 6.S.Curry 18.B.Mullens 28.M.Thornton 45.B.Woodside 47.G.Suton. I really want Wolves 2009/2010 roster like this:

    PG Foye
    SG Harden
    SF Gomes
    PF Jefferson
    C Thabeet

    PG Maynor (18th pick)
    SG Evans (6th pick)
    SF Brewer
    PF Smith
    C McGee

rest 5 guys: Cardinal, Madsen, Woodside(45th), Suton(47th), Carney or

    PG Curry (6th pick)
    SG Foye
    SF Gomes
    PF Jefferson
    C Gortat

    PG Telfair
    SG Miller
    SF Brewer
    PF Hansbrough (18th pick)
    C Love

rest 5 guys: Smith, Cardinal, Madsen, AJ Price (trade 45&47 for higher 2nd rounder), Carney
