sammybuckeye13ParticipantI think everyone is secretly rooting a bit for the Cavs now, at least when they’re not playing your team. I, for one, I am wishing them much more success than the Heat, lol. While they’ll certainly be worse than last year, I think they actually have a lot of room to grow and improve. If we assume Delonte West won’t be on the team next year (which I think is safe, considering he might have been the reason LeBron left, and even thinking about that might be too much for Cavs ownership), they could have $13 million in cap room. If I’m the GM, here’s what I do:
Trade Jamison to the Pistons for Rip Hamilton. The Pistons’ backcourt is overloaded (Rip, Stuckey, Gordon, Bynum), and the Cavs have too many PF’s (Jamison, Hickson, Varejao). Pistons could put on the floor a lineup of Stuckey, Gordon, Prince, Jamison, Monroe, with a strong bench of Will Bynum, Villanueva, Maxiell, Wilcox and Daye. Bynum could start, who knows.
Then sign Mike Miller to a 5 year/$40 million deal (overpay to secure a very solid veteran), keep $5 million in cap space, and you’ve got a lineup of:
Mo Williams
Richard Hamilton
Mike Miller
J.J. Hickson
Anderson VarejaoGood mix of talent (Hickson will be special), veterans, shooters, post players and scrappy guys. Varejao’s contract will become an enticing trade piece starting next year when they could potentially add a better center. But I think that’s a playoff team.

cap777ParticipantIf they keep him I really think J.J. Hickson will prove to be Cleveland’s biggest asset next season. He showed flashes of strong play, and has the natural athleticism to help his game. I believe he could be the star of the LeBronless cavs.

llperezsammybuckeye, no offense, but i think your suggestions are terrible. Look at that roster and tell me they are on their way to 50+ wins? Rip and overpaying Mike MIller to compliment jamison and mo will. That team aint doing anything special, but they will probably be too good to get a top 5 pick. They would be old and stuck in the middle of nowhere. Just blow it up and rebuild. Go hard after a true marquee free agent to build around next summer.
