The Suns have Alex Len who will obviously get run after the deal. After that there is a void for minutes and Miles Plumlee should get those minutes. Many reports have indicated Plumlee has been their best big man during training camp. Long term I don’t see him doing a ton but on a bad team he should put up some decent numbers.

Depending on their style I could see Channing starting at C and either Len or Miles backing up, but Miles can also play some 4 backing up Keiff… Eh does it even matter, Suns are going to be all time bad for that franchise. I’d take the Clippers bench over the Suns starters at this point.

I don’t think there is anybody on this site that would say that Miles Plumlee should’ve been a first round pick. He spent four years at one of the top basketball programs under a legendary head coach and didn’t learn one decent post move. He didn’t do anything against top ACC competition in his four years at Duke. He is tall, athletic and can run and that will get you drafted in the NBA.

Let’s see what Plumlee can do. Here is a nice quote from the Suns GM Ryan McDonough.

“Miles Plumlee’s progress is a big reason we did this trade,” GM Ryan McDonough said. “Miles was a big part of the deal we did with Indiana.” Alex Len isn’t ready for minutes quite yet and Plumlee will get a chance to impact the team during the regular season.

… are we all blind ?…

the suns are T A N K I N G which means they didn’t give a f*ck if miles is going to help them winning games. This is even the contrary. They are going to give him playing time only to see an unproven raw limited center helping them to win ping pong lottery balls.

It’s not about Miles helping them to win games, it’s more about them believing in him as a prospect and giving him an opportunity to develop. They may do that or play him less and play Frye at C more.
They’re going to lose games regardless of this decision.

To be honest, I have seen a very limited sample size of Miles Plumlee play, but when I did – he looked quite good, he was solid defensively and had some great blocks and he actually made a little running hook and missed one that was in and out. As a person that hadn’t seen him play in college, I was quite impressed by him.

Miles has Josh McRoberts’ athleticism with Lou Amundson’s skill set. He might grab some rebounds but I’ll be very surprised if he does much more…..

There is no might about grabbing rebounds. He grabbed rebounds in college and he has done it so far in the NBA. On a Per 36 minute basis he averaged 14.4 rebounds per game in his rookie year. You can talk about small sample size or whatever you want, but the guy can and will rebound.

However, as you say, he has never really done anything more than that. He didn’t in college and he hasn’t so far in the NBA and preseason. Maybe a little bit of blocking ability because of those crazy hops. But he doesn’t have long arms and he isn’t a fast leaper, so at best he will be good and blocking shots.

Offensively, he might be one of the worst scorers in the league. But that is another matter.

As long as teams are going to keep putting out lineups with guys that play just because they are tall you could probably do a lot worse than seeing what a guy that is tall, young and has athleticism can do. I think his upside is very limited though. He played 4 years under the best coach in college and he still did not turn into much more than he was.

The suns are going to be really bad no matter who they put out. There are several benches that have a better lineup than their starting 5. I think they should have kept Shannon Brown. If you are going to lose, you might as well be entertaining and lose.
