mikeyvthedonParticipantNo Tu Holloway, Mark Lyons kicked off of the team and at Arizona, should signal a lot of early minutes for Christon. Semaj and Myles Davis should actually both log a lot of minutes as true freshmen due to circumstance, their only returning guards are a three point specialist in Brad Redford and Dee Davis, who played limited minutes as a freshman. Odds are, the keys will go to Christon, he should play often.
I believe Semaj might have actually re-classified at some point and is coming into college as a 20 year old, so he is at the least more physically prepared than the average freshman PG. He is definitely a good prospect, more of a scoring point than a pass first guy, but he can get buckets. The key for him will be decision making and of course being on a team without a lot of depth at guard as well as having to incorporate numerous new roles. He should make a definite impact as a freshman, though I am thinking that he will more than likely stay another year or two.

mikeyvthedonParticipantOr at least had a feeling. I’d wait and see before getting on that band wagon. A one-and-done PG from the Atlantic-10 is not something that has happened. There are always exceptions to the rule, but playing PG is a tough gig, especially when you have to pretty much carry a team missing its 5 leading scorers from last season. Replacing Dezmine Wells is completely unexpected as well, so I am guessing they are not overly prepared with a possible gunner beside Semaj.
Just thinking that even with his age, he could take his time. It really all depends on how ready he is and where he feels he is amongst college PG’s. My guess is, he will have the ball a lot, more than likely get 30 minutes + (which is a lot for a freshman) and have some definite things to work on. He will have some nice scoring games, but Xavier will more than likely struggle to get to the NCAA Tournament and he will probably turn the ball over quite a bit.
Now, I do not know all of the details about Chris Thomas and how long he may have to stay in JUCO, but he is listed as a commit for next season. If Xavier landed him, think Christon would gladly come back to have a chance at being more competitive. Chris Mack has done a really good job recruiting as of late and I think the odds are he will get some more weapons. Just generally feel that while Christon will be much better than the average A-10 frosh at PG, he will spend some time to work on his craft.

SiggyParticipantSemaj took a Post-Grad year at Brewster Academy. That’s why he’s old for his class.
My guess is that he’ll get as many minutes as he can handle. He’s like the only bright spot for a young, depleted Xavier team.
