valentineSince it seems there will be a lockout alot of college underclass men are gonna stay in college a year longer then they planned. That’s a great thing for Kentucky because they will bring in Marquis teauge and Micheal gilchrist along with one or two more top 10-20 player I’m sure to go along with kentner, knight, lamb,Poole t.jones. Whew. That’s a talented group
Unc-barnes,bullock,Henson,strickland,macadoo is another team that will benifit

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantGood question. Duke, North Carolina, Memphis, Kentucky will all be looking good.
The only downside could be the condensed season. Like if they have a 40,50 game season there could be a draft.

JNixonParticipantKentucky would have a chance to be as loaded as UNC was 2 years ago. They’d be a top 1 or 2 favorite with the title.
UNC with Harrison Barnes and all those guys would potentially be the only team that could match them head-to-head talent-wise I’d say as of now.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantWait, why did you list all these players like Kanter and Terrance Jones? They could come out in 2011.

stanford hoopsBecause the lockout would be after this season. Alot of players will stay in college another year instead of coming out and just sitting for a year. They could go to Europe but the concensus is that the players rather come back another year then risk injury or drop in draft stock

stanford hoopsAnother option(if the rules are the same). Is they can get drafted then go back to school and play and if the lockout ends
midseason then they could go to the team that drafted them. I doubt that anyone would leave there team midseason but stranger things have happened. I’m
not sure if you can still go back to college after being drafted. They might have changed that rule0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/15/2010 - 9:23am #354798
pattymillsYou have to hire an agent to enter the draft, that ruins your elegability.

the barronParticipantI gotta feeling if there is a lock out some of these guys would go overseas to play, especially Kanter who is of Turkish decent. They’ve seen Brandon Jennings and Jeremy Tyler do it and some, not all, of the players might do this and affect these teams.

stanford hoopsno you dont have to hire a agent to enter the draft

stanford hoopsyeah i thought they would go over seas but when they asked a bunch of the top players from this hs class they said they would rather another year instead of risking injury or drop in draft stock

GodfatherParticipantKentucky will have a major advantage, but pretty much every other college will be considerably better.

stanford hoopsevery team being better goes without saying…actually i take that back because everyone wont. there are many teams that dont have underclassmen that would be declaring for the draft so the lockout doesn’t effect them at all

dipt1982ParticipantGood, maybe Florida can have Austin Rivers and Boynton playing together…it’s not as sexy looking as Horford, Noah, Brewer, but it is an upgrade from the past couple years…

stanford hoopsif austin decides to recommit to florida, which i heard he’s not leaning towards. florida has a good one in brad beal though plus kenny is already there and mike rasorio

knicksfan7ParticipantI think Kentucky would be better, but not as great as we’re saying b/c not all of those guys will stay. Each school has 13 scholarships, and Coach Cal reloads every year. Also, Coach Cal is not shy about telling a guy he is ready for the NBA. I do not think that view of his will change lockout or not. Lockout or not the guys that are seen as one and done I still see being one and done.

stanford hoopsso you think the ones that are one and done are gonna leave and sit at home for a year if theres a lock out even though most of them said they would stay for another year rather then go to europe?…yeah i doubt it but anything is possible. if theres a lock out coach cal isnt gonna tell them to leave just to sit home
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/15/2010 - 4:05pm #355086
knicksfan7ParticipantThese kids are saying they would rather stay another year, but if they get offered million dollar contracts to go play in europe with the ability to opt out once the nba ends there lockout, I believe a lot of the one and done players will jump on that. Though, some can stay. I think we are both right on this.

llperezi doubt the lockout effects the players coming out or not. The lockout wouldnt come into effect until after the draft takes place. Players prior to the draft wont have any idea if there will be a lockout or not, so if they want to leaves school and get drafted, they will.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/15/2010 - 6:50pm #355156
stanford hoopsThey players they have asked have said other wise. If they get drafted and there’s a lock out then they don’t get paid

Demarcus OnealParticipantwho would start on Kentucky Teague or Knight
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/15/2010 - 6:57pm #355161

JNixonParticipantBoth Teague and Knight can play off the ball, but I’m sure Knight would be the PG. He’s the better pure playmaker for others of the 2.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/15/2010 - 7:01pm #355164

llperezthey dont get paid in college either though. Plus, they wont have any idea if there will be a lockout prior to the draft. Im thinking those that want to enter and feel confident they are first rounders wont change their mind based on the potnetial of a lockout.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/15/2010 - 7:26pm #355180

Demarcus OnealParticipantwould it be like this past year where they had bledsoe play off the ball with wall and i think teague would be point since he is a much better fit in the dribble drive offence
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/15/2010 - 7:29pm #355183

JNixonParticipantYeah that’s true as well, Teague is better with the ball in his hands. As I thought about it, Teague is the better fit in their offense. Teague would probably be the starter despite not being as true a PG as Knight because of Calipari’s offense
