Meyers Leonard was the 47th rank prospect in the very talented 2010 class.  In his freshman season at Illinois, Meyers averaged only 8 minutes per game, while averaging 2 points and 1 rebound in that time, shooting 48% and 71% from the Free Throw line.

Leonard has made the Team-USA U-19 team and today posted 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 blocks while playing only 22 minutes, in a 115-60 blowout over Egypt.

This had me wondering, how good is Meyers Leonard?  Illinois is my favorite team, but I really didn’t get to see him play much.  Playing on Team-USA obviously means he’s a good player, but just how good is he?  Please let me know how good you think he is, and with no Go-To player at Illinois like McCamey was last year, could Leonard be Illinois’ star player?

long, lean and athletic. The problem is that he doesn’t bang (at least in college) and is far too weak at this point to attack the basket and use his athleticism. His frame doesn’t look like it can take on much added muscle, whereas someone like Mason Plumlee or even Anthony Davis looks like they can fill out beyond where they currently are. Fringe prospect who could do well later (in his mid 20’s) after a stint overseas and working dilligently with strength and conditioning coaches to optimize his body.

Even though Kwame is considered a bust for where he was picked, he’s actually an OK player. He’s actually a good defender/rebounder. You need to get over the whole #1 bust thing, the guy is a rotation big in the league.
