Pistol Pete. The PelicanParticipantI have to say i’m late on this train, but every time I watch the guy play, he looks totally in control. It doesn’t matter if he’s scoring or passing. From what I can gather he’s supposed to be a subpar athlete. Do I think he’s elite athletically? No, but I do think he’s a good athlete and better than we give him credit for. This site compares him to Trey Burke, he seems to be at this point, a better floor general than Burke. So how good can he be? What’s his ceiling? Who’s his best pro comparison?
11 points, 2 steals, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds as a true freshman. Shooting 46% from the field, 36% from three, and 83% from the line on a 10-0 Duke team.

For_Never_EverParticipantHe reminds me of Mike Conley.

Pistol Pete. The PelicanParticipantDo you think he’s as good defensively?

For_Never_EverParticipantTo be honest I haven’t watched him enough to gauge anything too deeply with him. He has looked solid to me at the college level given that he isn’t really athletic or quick.

CameronCrazy11ParticipantTo be honest, I see some John Stockton in his game. Not saying he will be John Stockton, but he definitely has some Stockton-like qualities.

TarHeelRavenParticipantHe’s really solid for being short and pretty unathletic. He’ll beat you with you his head instead of his physical tools. He’s a pretty good defender. He was sensational against Wisconsin. Other games he’ll just disappear completely and have no impact. I think he’s good, but not spectacular. Maybe a 2-3 year guy and late first rounder.

nick5354ParticipantWhen thinking about Jones the first name that popped into my head was D.J Augstine.
Also, apparently he is listed as 6’1"? It feels like he is much shorter than that.

I.C.Y.U.NV.MEParticipantI think the Tyler Ennis comparison is a good one. Both are heady pg’s who are not overly quick or athletic, but still produce at a high rate. Both are extremely good game managers. Ennis was a gamer and always game through in crutch time/big games and the same is evident with Tyus. His best games have been when the lights were the brightest, which is why I think it’s a fair comparison. Tyus is decent on the defensive end but he really did struggle with Boatright, who skated the fuhh outta him with a nasty cross over and pretty floater to finish. Tyus has never been known as a defensive stopper and going up against a good senior in Boatright, I didn’t expect him to turn into one. He’s more of a pescy defender who forces turnovers rather than a lockdown defender. If he gets better and reaches his absolute ceiling I can see him being a Mike Conley type of guy in the league.
