You must not have watched alot of Kings games last season. He had alot of those huge scoring games in blowouts. He scored a huge percentage of his points in the 4th quarter. Since they were picking in the top 5 this year, that would mean they didn’t win alot.

If u watch some of the games at the end when they are down 6 or so with like 5 secs left he comes and hits a 3 with like 2 secs left yea they still lost but he hit the shot that he wasn’t suppose to I think his shots will go down more this year and if they do it’s a highway to the dangerzone for teams that can’t stop him ie Houston Battier and Portland Batum

Whatever, Evans could still be a really good player. Multiple All star. I’m not doubting that but he has issues going left. I’ve seen good defenders stop him by forcing him left. Say what you want but it’s the truth. He cannot attack from the left as well as the right.

Other then that, I think the Kings are building really well. I think they need to think to add maybe another solid shooter and they could be contending for the playoffs in a season or two.

On the Video he went left 8-10 times… but the shot was taken with right hand every time they showed it. He can get to basket, that’s for sure. Of course it is a highlight video.

I think he’s an exciting young player who can really score the rock but he doesn’t really show elite explosiveness and great passing ability. That’s what will hold him back from being a true franchise player but he can still be maybe a 4 or 5 time all star

He has limitless potential, not only potential, because he showed it last season. Maybe when they start being more of a team and face more challenges we can really see what he’s made of. It is a lot easier to score like that when you are THE MAN, as you will see with John Wall this season. He has soft hands and a knack for attacking the basket, which is something a lot of young players don’t have. If he improves his mid-range game, I see Paul Pierce abilities…

He mostly does play SG, Beno plays PG…. He plays nothing like Paul Pierce… He is a very good passer for a SG (5+ assists on a crappy team is pretty good evidence of that)

yeah those numbers are Lebron like and he’s nowhere as good as him. On a winning team he would have to be less ball-dominant, be unselfish, and kick it to players who can hit outside shots consistently. If he couldd average 24/6/5 on a playoff team i would be extremely impressed

Evans is a cross between LeBron/Wade/Ginobili… I can’t really think of a specific player he is more like… Now, obviously, he is not as good as the first 2 nor maybe not Ginobili at this point, but–he attacks at the basket like Lebron using strength, he is actually very similar to Wade except wade is more crafty–they also both lack a good outside jumper and rebound/pass well, the video shows you why he is like Ginobili, he has that same side step move

Immediately after the draft I said Sam Presti made a huge mistake by taken Harden over Evans. Some of the people in this forum jumped all over me but I think time has proven I was right.

Evans’ strength is his ball-handling ability and his knack for getting into the lane. The issue I have with him is that he is so ball dominant that it’s going to make it difficult for him to be on a winning team. I think he’ll have a long career of impressive stats and early playoff exits.

Also, OKC made an excellent decision with Harden over Evans because Evans would kill that offense and take far too many shots away from a far superior player, that being KD

If Tyreke would have had teamates who could actually make open shots he would have easily averaged 8-10 assists a game as a rookie. That was a glaring weakness last year, players just were not making jump shots. it is why teams that crowded the lane did so well against the Kings last year. I see nothing wrong with having a ball dominate player on your team, is that not what Lebron, Kobe, Paul, Wade, Durant all are?

It was a good move of OKC to take Harden over Evans. Evans would take shots away from Durant, and he wouldn’t space the floor as well as Harden. People sleep on Harden. He isn’t a star, but he is a good player with an excellent B-ball iq. I might have taken Curry if I was them, but Harden was a solid pick.
Don’t get me wrong: Tyreke is a better player than Harden overall, and is best for the Kings. Just Harden was a better choice for OKC.

I would love to see him as a 1 because I love tall PGs. I actually wouldn’t mind him playing a little bit of 2 next to Beno. Beno is always aggressive attacking although they don’t really complement each other because both lack range. Still, I think the future is bright for Sacramento, I see them having less than 30wins this season, but exploding next season, similiar to OKC or Memphis, something around 42+ wins.

Alot of the points made here are valid except for the thought that he can’t go left. Youre confusing going left for finishing with his left hand. He goes left and finishes with his right in the most awkward of finishes. As far as him being ball dominant, thats definitely true but he’s good enough to be and once all the young guys and our other pieces come together you’ll see that he will still be able to put up those numbers. I’d actually like it if we could get another guy (maybe itll be cousins) that can score 15-18 a game and make it to where tyreke doesnt have to be the go to guy all the time. Also he wouldve averaged alot more assists if we didnt have nocioni or donte greene missing all the open 3s and jump shots that they did. If and when he develops he a better jump shot, he’ll be able to score 20 a game no matter what kind of a team we have. Without a jump shot it’ll be much more difficult but with one he’ll be one of the most unguardable guys in the league. Also you dont have to have superior athleticism to be a stud, people fall in love with guys that can jump out of the gym but tyreke is highly skilled and has a high IQ as well as craft, all of which wont ever leave his game. Superior run and jump athletes lose some of that as time goes on and once they get to their early to mid 30s they arent nearly the player they used to be.
