with most teams hitting their 15 man roster limits, just wanted to see how everyone feels about their team.

    my team, the nuggs…

nate rob, darrell arthur opt in – obviously, robinson is a spark plug off the bench at a very reasonable price ($2.1M).  probably would’ve opted out if it wasn’t for his acl injury.  i was sort of surprised that arthur opted in with the depth the nuggs have in the frontcourt, but he played very well in limited minutes and is an excellent option at the 4th or 5th big in the rotation after faried, hickson and mcgee (and possibly mozgov).

trade evan fournier and 56th pick (roy devyn marble) for aaron afflalo – i think we were the big winner in this trade.  afflalo fills a big hole at sg and is a big improvement over randy foye.  to only give up fournier and marble is pretty amazing, considering the value afflalo had at the time.

trade 11th pick (doug mcdermott) and anthony randolph for the 16th pick (jusuf nurkic) and 19th pick (gary harris) – another great trade.  the nuggs were already deep and didn’t need a lottery caliber player.  they were a lot of rumors circulating that the nuggets were interested in nurkic and harris at 11 so to get them both is a great add.  time will tell if these guys develop.

draft #41 (nikola jokic) – i figured the nuggs would trade this pick or go draft and stash.  jokic showed a lot of different skills at nike hoops summit including a nice shooting touch and ability to rebound (7 boards in 16 minutes).  not sure if or when he’ll make an impact, but a lot of mock drafts had him in the 30-40s.

sign eric green – this is kind of an under the radar sigining but eric green is still the same guy that lead the ncaa in scoring a couple years ago.  he played a year overseas where his team lost in the italian league finals.  had a sneaky, good summer league with 16.6 ppg and 3 rpg, 3 asp while quietly being in the shadow of quincy miller and gary harris.

    depth chart:

pg – ty lawson, nate robinson, erick green

sg – aaron afflalo, randy foye, gary harris

sf – danillo gallinari, wilson chandler, quincy miller

pf – kenneth faried, jj hickson, darrell arthur

c – javele mcgee, tim mozgov, jusuf nurkic

plenty of good players.  the problem will be having to find minutes for everyone (similar to the problem last year prior to injuries) but really like the mix of vets with developmental prospects.

I liked their choices of LaVine and GR3 in the draft, and if the Love trade goes through we actually acquired some potential in return for him instead of just letting him walk at the end of the year. It is going to be a few years until we can really see if this trade pans out but I think that it will be worht it in the long haul. Timberwolves are likely going for a full rebuild and will attempt to trade away some of their bad contracts that they still have (Barea/Martin). I also wouldn’t be surprised if they looked to trade Pek if Dieng continues his solid production from last year.

Well I live about 20 minutes west of Cleveland so I don’t need to elaborate much further.

Bulls fan and I couldn’t be happier with how this offseason went. From Derrick Rose appearing healthy to getting Doug McDermott in the draft to getting Pau Gasol and Nikola Mirotic, it was nearly perfect.

lost lebron, ray allen, james jones. Replaced with danny granger, luol deng, mcRoberts and added shabazz and james ennis. wade is not a 15mil player at this time. Bosh you had to overpay for. all and all still a top 5 seed in the east with imo a small shot at the ECF. I feel they match up okay in the east with everyone outside cleveland and chicago. I think they can give toronto and washington a run for the 3rd seed

WVU had a very exciting off season.. I know you meant NBA but here is what has happened to them.

Eron Harris, Terry Henderson, and Remi Debo all decided to leave. They were respectively our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, leading scorers on the team. None of them were seniors.. Harris decided that Michigan State was the best spot for him. Henderson went back home to NC State. Debo decided to take his chances at a professional career in France.

We return Juwan State, the leading scorer in the Big 12 last season. He is obviously the star of our team and should be the best PG in college basketball next year. Devin Williams, our leading rebounder and shot blocker, returns as a sophomore who started every game as a freshman. Nate Adrian, a Morgantown native, returns for his Sophomore season also. He started most every game last year as a freshman but struggled with his shot, supposed to be his strength, and defense but at 6’9, he has tons of potential as a SF. Brandon Watkins returns as a sophomore that didn’t see a lot of burn but has been rumored to have had the most productive off season of anyone. Role players Gary Brown and Kevin Noreen return for their senior seasons also but shouldn’t be anything more than minute fillers.

    New additions:
Daxter Miles – FR 6’3 PG/SG – Tons of promise offensively. Very long arms for a 6’3 guard. Natural passer and a streaky scorer. Was largely overlooked because of grades and some trouble but could be the future leader of this team.

Jevon Carter – FR 6’2 SG/PG – Tenacious defender with a nice spot up jumper and decent handle. Played at a small school that emphasized ball movement so his offensive game is lagging just a bit but he is a great passer.

Tarik Phillip – SO 6’3 SG – Juco guy that should step in and start right away.. Excels at getting to the rim and finishing through traffic. Supposed to be a nice defender but I haven’t seen him much.

Jaysean Page – JR 6’2 PG – I don’t know much about him.. Supposed to be a nice off the dribble scorer.

BillyDee Williams – JR 6’6 SF – Don’t now anything about him but if Huggins likes him, Im sure he is more of a PF than a SF. Probably a bruiser.. I could be way off tho..

    Newly Eligible:
Elijah Macon – SO 6’9 PF/C – Been waiting for him to be ready since 2010 it seems like. He will step in and start right away.. Look out for this guy.

Jonathan Holton – JR 6’7 SF/PF – Another instant starter. Should be our leading scorer from the get go.. Supposed to be a matchup nightmare.. The good tweener.

Hawes and Farmar are great fills for obvious holes and at good prices too. Big baby provides some inside presence and should pair well with the floor stretching ability of Hawes. I actually don’t mind the drafting of Wilcox either from what I saw of him at the combine he can flat out score which could definitely be useful off the bench down the stretch. I’m still waiting for them to work out what they are doing at SF but, I don’t see a contender with Barnes and Dudley at the 3.

     lakers

its just another year toward mediocrity. Hard to spin too much positive when it looks like we will miss polayoffs again. But im not mad. I always stay positive no matter what and look forward to trying to prove people wrong. Fact is they didnt overpay for any good but not great players. Hill is on a 1 year gauranteed deal, nash, lin, boozer all come off the books. So the team didnt overreact and panic to try and win more games now while sacrificing the long term.

Plus i really liked julius randle at #7 , cant wait to see kobe back on the court and 2 of my favorite lakers from last season in jordan hill and xavier henry are both back. The fact mike Dantoni played ryan kelly more minutes then hill just shows who he is as a coach, someone who could care less about defense and hustle as long as you can score points. So its good were bringing back some of the tougher defenders and now have a coach that will utilize them. Plus the guys like lin and boozer will have a bit of a chip on their shoulders being in contract years and having everyone talk about how much they suck even though both started on playoff teams.

Sucked seeing gasol leave, espcially for a big paycut from what the lakers were offering. I cant blame him, he was reportedly upset about how the fans and media treated him in recent years. Plus im sure he actually wanted to win some games at the end of his career.

an okay off-season. gor a good back-court player in shaun livingston who can play well theoretically next to steph curry. no big injuries has come out which is good. we were in the love sweepstakes but would not deal klay which i am happy about. of course love would have great to have, but klay is such an important of the team and having him and iggy on defense makes up for steph’s defficiencies on that end. i also really liked bringing brandon rush back. he was our best perimeter defender before klay’s improvement and his injury. he would be a good three and d type player who has always played a team game since his KU days.

we let steve blake go to the blazers, but that was because we already had signed livingston. jordan crawford and jermaine are still free agents and i dont know or think we will bring them back. they could still be usefull but i dont know if theres still a spot on the team for them. jordan crawford would be the 3rd or 4th PG with curry, livingston and nedovic. as a SG, he would be 3rd or 4th as well with Klay, Iggy, and Curry all getting minutes at that position as well. jermaine would have been nice to add but maybe its an indication that Ezeli is healthy again, so our center rotation would go back to Bogut, Speights and Ezeli and the PF would be Lee, Green, Speights.

over-all id give them a B for making small solid moves here and there and not doing anything to disrupt chemistry between the players. honestly, our biggest move was hiring a high profile rookie head coach in Steve Kerr. in theory its a good move, but will see how we do first before i really make judgement call on the move.

Our off season was great. It started with a trade that brought back defensive anchor Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton from the Knicks for Jose Calderon, Samuel Dalembert, Shane Larkin, Wayne Ellington and a couple of second round draft picks. Then Dirk and Devin Harris took pay cuts allowing us to steal Parsons from the Rockets while they were busy trying to sign Bosh.

We lost Marion and Carter, but signed Jameer Nelson, Al-Farouq Aminu, and Richard Jefferson. Nelson adds shooting and spacing to the starting lineup and Aminu is a great replacement for Marion being a hybrid athletic forward. Rebounding, defense and ability to run the court are all so similar to Marion. I don’t what to think of Jefferson yet, hopefully he can still play and fill in those back up SF minutes.

Really liked our off season and building a great all around team.

PG-Jameer Nelson, Raymond Felton, Gal Mekel

SG-Monta Ellis, Devin Harris, Ricky Ledo

SF-Chandler Parsons, Richard Jefferson, Jae Crowder

PF-Dirk Nowitzki, Al-Farouq Aminu, Ivan Johnson

    C-Tyson Chandler, Brandon Wright,Greg Smith

Bulls, and I’m pretty happy.  The only thing I was hoping for that didn’t happen was Carmelo signing, but we got a solid consolation prize in Gasol.  As a Bulls fan, who wouldn’t be happy with the off-season after amnestying Boozer?

DWill and Lopez are reported to be healthy and cleared for basketball and working out. Rookies acquired in second round of draft are largely panning out. I’m pretty sure Corey Jefferson is going to become a starting caliber PF. And Plumlee has clearly improved and now looks like he might make the final 12 for USA. Bogdanovic is coming over from Europe and should be some help this year and lots of help next year.

Will miss Livingston and Pierce. But absolutely no need to pay a lot for Pierce at this stage of his career.

Coaching swap from Kidd to Hollins is probably about a wash. Though Kidd seems crazy again. So best to be rid of him.
