The Scare Crow RisesParticipantLots of Cap Space and lots of Assets down the pipeline, I wonder who we target to play PG down the road…
I assume the SF of the future will be a Ben Simmons like prospect in 2016 or 2017…
Lets say we want to find a PG this year, who is out there for the taking?
We need to find a PG in the next year and a half, Wroten should be a 6th man IMO…
Plug in a PG with this core…
PG Tony Wroten
SG Nik Staukas and JP Tokoto
SF Ben Simmons *(Best Case Scenario) Robert Covington and Jeremi Grant
PF Nerlens Noel and Dario Saric
C Jahlil Okafor and Joel Embiid0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/02/2015 - 9:53am #997190

TrillaParticipantI don’t know what they free agency outlook is for PGs in the next couple years. I wouldn’t mind them throwing an offer to ATL for Schroeder, I really think he would fit and develop well, if they don’t want to wait until 2017.

chall23ParticipantNot saying he’s a superstar but I’d like to see if the Sixers could maybe pick up Tyler Ennis from the Bucks. The Bucks may look to ship off his contract and I think he could be a solid contributor for the sixers because he is a good decision maker and a smart player too

SpartanGloryParticipantMaybe short term try to sign Kendall Marshall who I believe is a FA. The sixers should have more than enough picks and cap space to draft/sign a high impact pg within the next couple years. Then Wroten can come off the bench and provide some balance to the roster.

Rip255A few scenarios for the Sixers.
The Simmons Scenario: There’s a 10-25% chance of them getting Simmons, based on where they finish in the lottery. He’s going #1 and you won’t be able to trade for him. Getting Simmons removes the need to splash on a Point Guard, as he’ll be the main playmaker. This would make a PG with good defense and 3pt shooting a priority as opposed to usual strengths in ball-handling & distributing.
The Non-Simmons Scenario: Jamal Murray or Malik Newman. Both these guys are dynamite scorers and better described as combo guards. Neither is a "pure" point guard in the traditional sense but they’ve got a lot of talent. I especially like Murray who has been off the radar to a certain extent. So if you want a Point Guard that can get you buckets…these are 2 guys worth looking at.

EndlessknightParticipantWroten played all last season at only 20, he’s younger than guys who were just drafted like Jerian Grant. He was only the 5th player in NBA history to average 16-5-5 in less than 30min/g. He has great size for the position and is an above average defender with plus athlectism, If the guy can improve his shot and decision making he’s an all-star. I guess my point is I want to see Wroten as a starter for a full season but I saying he’s not the answer.

Memphis MadnessParticipantStick with Wroten. He and Nerlens Noel could be a nasty pick and roll combo.
What you do is put a shooter next to him — which is what they got with Stauskas.
Philly can spend some money. Why not throw some at Patrick Beverley? Solid point guard who can defend, get steals, and shoot 3’s. he and Wroten along with Stauskas would be a good 3 guard rotation.
then focus on getting a small forward in next year’s draft.

ExumInfernoParticipantIf Saric does play and can be a point forward, they could go big in the backcourt with two shooters or with a shooter and a large guard defender.
But a point guard with shooting ability would seem to be important, as their offense would be based on getting the ball insdie to Okafor and probably Embiid.
Or Simmons at point guard with Stauskas, Saric, Noel, Okafor and Embiid off the bench.
For players around right now to sign, not sure there is a good fit. J Lin might work. Rondo wouldn’t. Maybe Reggie Jackson?

TripleDoubleScoutParticipantGood call on Simmons at the point, but there is no way in Hades Okafor starts over a healthy Embiid.

holefillers1ParticipantJordan McRae and Pierre Jackson are ahead of JP Tokoto. Before the Stauskas trade I thought the starting five would be Wroten, McRae, Covington, Noel and Okafor. I’m still pretty high on Mcrae and if Stauskas struggles defensively I coild see Sixers going that way.

omphalosParticipantWroten could still be their guy. Plus, they need to pay all their young picks at some point, so having a relatively cheap but capable guy like Wroten is good for them.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantLets say we offer them LA’s pick plus a trade exemption which they can use on a Veteran PG in Free Agency, with the Lakers pick they could add a replacement for Carroll or Korver on the wing…
If we added Covington it would help them out in the immediate future because they lost Carroll to Toronto in free agency
Covington and The Lakers pick for Schroeder sound fair to Atlanta? I preferred keeping RoCov because he can shoot, defend and rebound well enough to help any team, but if he can help a contender and net us a young starting PG on his rookie contract I’m open to it…
I forgot about Mcrae who can be a solid SG off the bench, I highly doubt a G like Pierre Jackson would stick around on this Team unless he can consistently hit open jumpers but if he can he’s a gamer by all accounts, it was a same both players couldn’t make their way on the roster last season…

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantWroten
Stauskas
Covington
Noel
Embiid/Okafor
Thats a solid team to build around!! Love Wroten, hope he gets a jumper but he has to study how John Wall slowed his game down and got a good mid range jumper first. We hoepfully can get Ssimmons.. We got Pierre Jackson back, who is a BALLER… Mcrae is nice too… "Trust The Process"
