Currently nbadraft.net predicts 5 point guards to be drafted in the lottery of the 2017 draft:

Markelle Fultz 2, Dennis Smith 4, Lonzo Ball 5, De’aaron Fox 6, Frank Ntilikina 8.

 By my count that would be the most since at least the year 2000 and probably pretty far beyond that. Here’s all the lottery drafted point guards since 2000 (I think). Can the 2017 group be the best one yet? 2008 is quite strong with Rose and Westbrook, and 2005 had Deron Williams and Chris Paul but this year seems to have quite a bit more depth. 1996 also had Iverson, Marbury and Nash.

 What years were the best before the 2000s? Tougher question- how would you rank the pg prospects in this years draft?

 The best class has been 2008. 2017 has the potential to be better all around, but D Rose was an MVP and Westbrook might be the most talented player in the league, not to mention Bayless and Augustin being reliable role players for their respective teams over the years. It will be fun to see how this current crop of guys turns out

 Now with Harden a PG it’s easy 2009 tbh, I would even consider 2009 the best class without considering him, just because how deep it goes: second rounders in 2009 were better than Bayless and Augustin with Beverley and Patty Mills.

It’s a Curry-Westbrook debate at the top, and then the 2009 class is way deeper. 

2008 is not a better class than 2005 unless you are overvaluing D Rosde considerably for his not deserved MVP award (it’s not like he has ever truly been considered even the top PG of this league honestly, and even with promising early years his career is never going to be better than Deron Williams ‘s imo).

 I hadn’t considered Harden so that gives 2009 some serious star power in addition some depth.

Top 3 is 2005 ,2008 & 2009 easily
It is really tough for me to put a class 6 months before the draft ahead of such classes,but if top PGs in this class lived to hype they can join the above 3 among the elites
