     What are you doing?

OKC showed everyone what small market teams have to do in the new CBA, get out ahead of bad contracts, and gain valuable draft picks. Yes, I consider giving James Harden a max deal a bad contract. Similiar to Joe Johnson (many consider the worst contract in the league), very nice player, but not max money. In three years Houston will have $46 million tied up in 3 players! Houston is taking on bad contracts and giving away draft picks.

Yeah, i just saw Online that the Rockets just Gave Harden a 5 year 80 Million Dollar deal..Harden got what he wanted, but as you say you have to wonder what the Rockets are they thinking?

I Can understand Harden’s contract, but Asik,Lin contracts are absurb..I think Harden would’ve gotten a max deal from alot of teams..But Asik & Lin havent proved anything yet….

The thunder haven’t won anything yet so it’s not an automatic model to use, there have been plenty of teams that are hurt much more using the model of losing to get lottery picks. Also none of the teams that have won championships use that model.

So teams don’t win championships by losing, then drafting franchise-changing players like Jordan, Hakeem, Magic, Bird, Duncan, Kobe and others? Sure free agency as evolved over the years and teams are building more though it but they are adding around important pieces they obtained through the draft (Shaq w/ Kobe) (Shaq w Wade) (Lebron/Bosh w Wade) (KG/Allen w Pierce) etc.

    Let’s see…
    $80 million for James Harden
    $25 million for Jeremy Lin
    $25 million for Omer Asik
$17.1 million over the next three years for Luis Scola to go away
$1.5 million to Gary Forbes to go away
$1.17 million to Lazar Hayward to go away
$1.12 million to JaJuan Johnson to go away
$1 million to Jon Brockman to go away
$1 million to Shaun Livingston to go away
$644K to Derek Fisher to go away
$380K to E’Twaun Moore to go away

I think Lamb will end up being a better 2 than Harden once he develops. So I see this move as brash and damaging to the Rockets long term growth.

That and lamb will be on his rookie contract for longer so you wont be paying him 15 million a year probably ever. He will probably sign for less than harden. Also the rockets arent going anywhere for the next 2 to 3 years anyway so Having lamb and a top 10 pick would have been better for the rockets.
