Is unlikely for the Hornets to trade up to get Super Mario or Justice Winslow to fix their need at the 2 spot and seems like OKC really wants Carmeron Payne, do you guys think the following trade is possible?

Hornets trade:

#9 (Carmeron Payne) + #39 + Matt Barnes (For salary purposes / bench warmer for OKC)

for 

#14 (Dekker)? + Jeremy Lamb

Lamb’s value is hard to judge at the moment, but I don’t think the trade is bad.  And one of Booker, Turner, WCS, or Oubre should be there so 14 seems like a nice landing spot for the Hornets.  I’m not too big on Dekker though.

Everything about that seems good except for Charlotte having to give up 39. It doesn’t make sense that they’d give up more picks (9 and 39) and the playoff ready veteran (Barnes) to move down (14) and take a guy who was in and out of the rotation last year (Lamb).

Other than that, I think it’s a wise move for both teams. I’ve said this before on here: I think that Lamb and Dekker would both be good fits in Charlotte. I don’t know if WCS will be available at 14, but I’m much higher on Dekker than Booker, Turner and Oubre. Booker has huge questions on his defense and if he can be a well rounded offensive player, Turner has questions on his running motion, and Oubre has questions on his competitive fire/mental drive to play the game at the next level. Main thing people have questioned with Dekker is his consistency with outside shooting, possibly one of the easiest things to fix at the next level considering it just takes a lot of reps to get better.

Rumors said Barnes is likely to be waive anyway, he will not be useful as a playoff presence on the Hornets team, so might as well to use him as a trade piece I assume?

I see this trade as a safer gamble than Booker because of Lamb’s better physical tools plus more experiences in the NBA, though Booker is only 18 years. Is nice to see Lamb and Kemba reunite as the backcourt as well.

As for the #14, I’m really not sure who to pick since they already have Vonleh and Cody for developing purposes and they just acquired Hawes, I don’t see Hornets taking another big there so maybe you’re right, they can take on another project like Oubre to backup the 2/3 spot.

Stanley Johnson has mentioned in pre draft interviews that OKC thinks he’s is the best 2 way player in the draft and he is familiar with Billy Donovan since he coached the USA u18 team. If they are moving up in the draft it’s for Stanley Johnson. A starting 2 guard and/ a potential KD replacement if he’s decided to leave after next season.

 I’ve seen that the Hornets really like RJ Hunter and want to draft him. If that was the case then a trade like this would make sense. Because Hunter at 9 is a major reach, while he still may be a reach at 14 it’s not that big of a reach.
