BallerScriptParticipantThe Celtics and the Hornets are rumored to be interested in executing a deal which will send the 9th pick to the Celtics for the 16th pick and the 28th pick in this years draft. If this trade does happen who do you think each team will select with the new picks?
I think with the 9th pick the Celtics draft board would be: 1. Cauley-Stein, 2. Johnson, 3. Turner. In this scenario I imagine they would end up drafting Myles Turner mainly because he will be the only player left and that they could use his defense. Charlotte are interested in R.J Hunter but they think it would be a waste of the 9th pick so with the 16th pick it is just right. With the 28th pick the Hornets could pick up a center to backup Al Jefferson. Centers available at that point could be: Upshaw, Hernangomez, Christmas, Johnson and Alexander.

BleedGreen808ParticipantI’d be interested in doing that deal as a Boston fan. I just wonder if 16 and 28 is enough to move up to the 9th pick. If it did happen I’d want 1.WCS 2. Turner 3. Oubre in that order. It’s a close one between Turner and WCS for me. I like the potential of Turner being a stretch big but WCS is a solid defender with athleticism and great lateral quickness. Oubre would be my 3rd option if the other 2 are off the board. He has a ton of potential and could be a great two way player.
I like the trade for the Hornets as well. They can get another asset in the 28th pick while moving down to take RJ Hunter(without reaching) or Booker(if he’s still on the board at 16). Then at 28 they can pick up another wing or big to add to their bench.

Puck017ParticipantGot any links for that rumor? The Hornets get hosed in that deal.

BostonCs FanParticipantI believe they will target Johnson or even Turner over Cauley- Stein. We all know the Celtics are in desperate need of a rim protector but they have other needs that I feel are being ignored. They could use Johnson as a wing and he would be an instant upgrade over Evan Turner. Crowder most likely will return but yet he’s best suited as a role player than a starter. I believe Turner has a higher upside than Stein solely because he’s got range with his jump shot and he already is an efficient shot blocker just like Stein. The more I evaluate Stein the more I think he will just be a one end player at best in the league, perhaps the next Theo Ratliff.

zer0d0ubtTurner is a way better prospect than WCS, unless you’re optimistic WCS can develop even one post move by the time he’s 65.

omphalosParticipantI’d love for the Celtics to move up for the 9th overall pick.
I’d want them to target WCS, Myles Turner or Stanley Johnson.
Turner has the highest upside, fills a need as a rim-protector and shooter, but also has health concerns that are troubling.
WCS fills a definite need defensively and could help us be an elite defensive team, but doesn’t solve our superstar conundrum.
Stanley Johnson is potentially a very good defender with good upside offensively.
He’s an extremely hard worker and fits in with the team’s unselfish play style. Would make for an imposing defensive presence from 1-3.
Honestly, I’d rather take WCS, because he’s such a quick, versatile defender that it doesn’t really matter if he isn’t great offensively. He could fit alongside any number of star wings or PFs.
Myles Turner would be a close second, but I’m wary about trading up for a guy with biomechanical deficiencies, although he has reportedly been working on it.
Johnson is my last preference only because size and rim protection are a bigger need, but I could see him becoming Jimmy Butler or a Kawhi Leonard type player.

bdoody42ParticipantAs a Celtic fan I think they have a couple options. One option I don’t like is staying at 16. If they trade trade the two picks to the Bobcats for the 9th pick I like the idea. I really like WCS. He is exactly what this team needs. They need an interior player who can be an elite rim protector and play above the rim on offense. Turner would be the second guy I would like to see them take. Turner is much more polished then WCS offensively at this time. I don’t see any small forwards at 9 who wow me. Winslow would be gone and most likely Hezonja as well.
i think the celtics should trade to package this pick with some players and get a star. Maybe it is a far fetched idea, but they really are missing that number one guy. Many great role players and secondary guys on this squad.

Willfb3ParticipantI think the C’s win this trade but it helps both sides. I’d like to see the C’s take Stanley Johnson at 9 (don’t think WCS will be available.) I think he’d help them win right away and is more of a sure thing than M. Turner. As far as the Hornets go I think if they want Hunter they could probably get him at 28 and maybe get a high upside guy like Oubre at 16. If this came to fruition both sides would be quite pleased.

NJBrown5ParticipantI think this deal could work out great for both teams.
Celtics could potentially grab WCS, who could answer all their questions about interior defense. It would also allow Olynyk to play PF a lot more, as he doesn’t seem like he’s the type of player to want to bang around in the post against true centers. If Stein isn’t availabe they could look to grab Oubre or Johnson, who could help solidify the 3 spot. Evan Turner plays suspect defense as it is, and Crowder may look to grab as much money as he can in free agency.
For the Hornets, dropping to 16 would give them the ideal opportunity to grab someone like Hunter or Dekker. I know a lot of fans are gung ho on grabbing Booker at 9, but to be honest I’m not quite sure what all the hype is about. He seems like a one dimensional shooter to me, and if his shot isn’t falling what exactly does he bring to the team? There are some serious questions about his defense and playmaking ability. Sounds a lot like someone currently on their roster (PJ Hairston) who was supposed to help their outside shooting last year. I think they can get a surprisingly more well rounded player at 16. Also, grabbing an extra first rounder could give them a shot at someone like Justin Anderson, a great 3 and D player, if he falls that far on draft night.
Seems like a win-win to me.

The QParticipantTurner is my dream pick for the C’s.
Then they need to package their 2 2nds to move up for Upshsaw. Lock down that C position.

Puck017ParticipantBut haven’t heard any indication on what they’re discussing. But the trade in this thread isn’t remotely fair. So I’ve prepared a quick history lesson for y’all.
2014
Trade 1
Chicago Bulls get: No. 11 pick Doug McDermott & Anthony Randolph
Denver Nuggets get: No. 16 pick Jusuf Nurkic & No. 19 pick Gary Harris
Trade 2
Philadelphia 76ers get: No. 12 pick Dario Saric, 2015 2nd round pick & 2017 1st round pick
Orlando Magic get: No. 10 pick Elfrid Payton
Now lets go back to 2013 and look at the last time the 9th pick was traded
Utah Jazz get: No. 9 pick Trey Burkey
Minnesota Timberwolves get: No. 14 pick Shabazz Muhammad & No. 21 pick Gorgui Dieng
