The Good:
I’m really excited to see Josh Jackson’s athleticism in person. I also want to compare Jayson Tatum and Payton Pritchard and to see the much ballyhooed D’Aaron Fox speed. I’m also interested in how Thon Maker will look this year compared to his embarrassing performance last year. I’m looking forward, as well, to finding out just how big and physically imposing DeAndre Ayton is.

The Bad:
I wish Lonzo Ball was going to be participating and that Harry Giles wasn’t injured! In that sense, it’ll be a little bit anti-climactic. I’m also a little disappointed that the World roster doesn’t feature some of the top prospects for the next two drafts, like Isaiah Harteinstein and Frank Ntilikina (unless they’re too young?) What about Dragan Bender? He’s actually several months younger than Josh Jackson, but I’m not sure where the cut-off is.

The Good – Inclusion of 3 Aussies, which is a reflection in the shift of power in world basketball. Froling and McDowell White, 2 guys that the game the right way and have bright NBA Futures

The Good – Opportunity to see Maker vs Ayton in scrimmages. Both men have claimed that each other is their biggest rival. Great athleticism and both guys only play 1 way – hard.

The Good – Josh Jackson, who is my MVP prediction and a future stud.

 

The bad – Analysis by the OP on Thon Makers performance at last years event. Maker didnt embarass himself at all last year. He competed hard the entire time and was 2 years younger than his competitors.

The Bad – The reputation of scouts that attended the event and ridiculously (I called it at the time…and Im far from the best judge of talent) after claiming Skal the #1 prospect. No doubt they’ll have learned from the experience.

The Bad – Failure to secure top European talent. European teams putting themselves ahead of the players welfare as usual. The World team looks weak this year as a result.

 Bender is not playing because like all the young players in Europe in a major league or team, they are not allowed to do so.

This tournament is for guys playing in USA, Canada, Australia, Asia, Latin America, or just in minor or youth leagues in Europe.

Players like Bender, Korkmaz, Charalampopulos, Papagiannis, and several others obviously would be there, but there is no way there teams in Europe will let them play.
