jjmass22ParticipantAfter 2 str8 years of losing to the pistons, and being told a scoring guard could never win a championship repeatly, would you think less of Jordan today if he packed his bags and teamed up with magic? Wouldn’t that kind of proved everybody right, even if he did win 6 say a couple with magic, n later with shaq in l.a. His legacy would not be what it is today.the difference is to me Jordan earned his respected, by beating the best n staying put, and since lebron came to the league he had respect and was suppose to win titles, as where people told Jordan he would never win 1.

sheltwon3ParticipantHe had a good young team that learned to win against established teams. Also contracts were different then. Maybe Boozer does not leave if this is Jordan’s time. Boozer would have been the piece that Lebron needed to make a Championship push. Also you had Phil Jackson in his younger days to Mike Brown. the triangle offense was tough for teams to defend and back then no many teams knew too much about it.

sheltwon3ParticipantHere is a honest question. Could Jordan have won now with the team Lebron had in Cleveland with Mike Brown as coach.

Demarcus OnealParticipantI don`t understand how people say Mike Brown was a bad coach he led the Cavs to 50, 65, 61 win seasons. He`s not a GM he cant bring in pieces to support Lebron and hes not a player so he can`t stop nthe Cavs from implouding in the playoffs while most of his sucess is from Lebron he can`t be that awful of a coach to give his team the best record in the NBA for two years in a row

Fresh_The_FanParticipantIt’s not fair at all to compare Jordan’s legacy to LeBron’s at this point which also boils down to decisions. Jordan’s decision to remain a Bull for most of his career (i.e. forget the Wizards days) can show that he was kind of lucky to be as successful as he was; winning 6 championships throughout the 90s. No, I’m not saying Jordan had a LUCKY career, but what if he never won a title because of his decision to stay in Chicago? Point in case is that in Jordan staying a Bull really allowed his career to come to life and that’s where you draw the line with LeBron’s decision. What if LeBron going to Miami is the best decision for his career to take off? We don’t know that so obviously it’s a bit lousy to compare Jordan and LeBron’s legacy when we haven’t seen what Bron’s legacy has come to. Jordan may “say” he would never join forces with the best players in the NBA because it only HELPS his image as the greatest, but when the pressure is on, people make certain decisions that they might never have made. I think the pressure on LeBron to win is MUCH greater than Jordan’s was because everyone has seen what Jordan’s legacy has amounted to. Plus, even though Bron is joining two superstars he still has to beat the BEST in the league anyways….. L.A. AND BOSTON. So before people put LeBron on this pedestal, remember that he still has a lot of work to accomplish and it should’nt be compared to Jordan because they have different legacies.

stanford hoopsDoubt Jordan would have even when the pressure is on. He was alot different mentally then lebron. He never would have gone to another team. He wouldn’t have told other stars no if they wanted to play for the bulls and I’m
sure he would have let them
know that he was the leader0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/19/2010 - 12:35pm #357599
SlimParticipantYesterday, Michael Jordan told the world he would never, ever have joined forces with fellow greats like Larry Bird and Magic Johnson because he wanted to beat them.
His feelings are fair, but unrealistic.
Jordan never had the options Chris Bosh, LeBron James, or Dwyane Wade had. After his rookie contract expired, MJ signed an eight year, $25 million contract that negated any chance of partnering with an all-time great.
And when he finally hit unrestricted free agency, Bird and Magic had both retired, so a partnership was impossible.
Jordan was also the game’s undisputed greatest player. There was no parity between superstars like today. In fact, his greatest challenge might have been from teammate, top 50 all time player, and Hall of Fame swing Scottie Pippen.
Then there’s the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The old CBA allowed teams a massive advantage in signing their own free agents. For instance, Chicago inked Jordan to several one-year contracts for upwards of $30 million.
The culture of the NBA was different, too. Teams wanted to win now, and the notion of cutting cap space for three years to sign a trio of superstars was unheard of. In fact, it didn’t happen.
Of course, Jordan has the right to say what he wants and thinks. It’s not necessarily accurate, though.

stanford hoopsalways makes me laugh when journalist claim they know what a player ment when they said something. Just like Kobe went no where I believe Jordan would have done the same in today’s game. He’d have other players come play with him. No matter who came there would be no question who the alpha dog was even if lebron or Wade played with him

jjmass22ParticipantGuys will killer instinct, guys that see a challenge, and conquer that challenge don’t want to share the credit, of you feel you can do something yourself you don’t want help from guys who will steal some of the credit, that’s with anything in life. Of course ever player needs role players, and even a great 2nd option, but I will never agree with running to wades team, every1 asumes they will win 1 in the next few years, but Wade only has 5 good years left, I hate to think what would happen if they don’t win 1 by then,

FDAPOI don’t think you can compare Kobe to LeBrons situation….
The Lakers are a big market team and one of the best basketball dynasties… LeBron never had a guy like Shaq either. If prime Shaq was on the cavs the past 5 seasons, LeBron would probably have 3-5 rings.
