suddsParticipantHey guys “Oh Canada“ and I were debating the talent level and needs of the Raptors. We are both Rap fans. I think there is no one of consequence to keep around for an eventual championship team down the road. I also think that we need to luck out by getting a top pick in the draft like OKC or Cleveland did to ever really make progress towards a championship. You can read that post back a few, but to sum it up, Barg is not a PF/C that you win with, which makes just about anyone expendable. I think Colangelo is the best thing to happen here in a while and lends credibility. If we could land a Barnes/ Drummond type future star to build around in the next couple drafts….we might get somewhere hopefully.

What do you guys think? How would you build a contender if you were Toronto? What deals could be made to get us on the right track? What would it take to get some of my targets? Who would you target?
Once again these would be my upside targets(other than picks) that I woulds have more faith in to build around:
Paul George, Mario Chalmers, Javale McGee(maybe), Darrel Arthur, Patrick Patterson, Aminu, Bledsoe, Oden, Batum, Bynum(doubt it), Whiteside, Jrue Holiday(you never know…I just really like his tenacity and atheleticism).

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantRaptors are a dead franchise, they’ve been rebuilding since they were created.

JoeWolf1I think Enes Kanter, Josh Selby or Jared Sullinger would make a lot of sense for that squad. Who knows what pick they’ll land though.

Tyreke JohnsonParticipantI am not going to name specific players that you need, however I will give you a generalized description on what you need to further better your franchise
-toughness down low, you big men are too soft and you need guys that don’t mind doing dirty work down low, I do not see guys with intensity that will fight for boards relentlessly throughout the whole season
-better interior defense- your froncourt defense is horrendous, you need guys who will protect the paint and if perimeter players get beat off the dribble they know they have a man in the middle (or more then one guy in the middle) that they can trust will not give up an easy shot or commit a stupid foul.
-more reliable outside shooters- other then Calderon I cannot really think of another player who can consistently hit outside shots, Weems and Jack are not outside shooters and Derozan though he is putting the work in, is not there yet.
-In definite need of a Center- Bargnani (correct spelling?) is not a true center and because he is not playing his true position it hurts your team, you need a tough nosed, dirty working center who can compliment Bargnani at the PF spot where he will be much more effective and not as much of a defensive liability)
-establishment of a first option- who is your first option? you need a clear go to guy, especially in the fourth quarter to lead you down the stretch and finish games for you, right now with the guys you currently have I am not sure you have a good or even solid first option to make you a winning team
-finish out games- you guys give up leads to easily, so far this season teams have been able to come back and almost beat you, or actually beat you and when you have a lead you need to mantain it not lose it, therefore your players need to give all their effort, all throughout the game
Your franchise has its work cut out for them and to be a successful franchise you need to address what I just listed immediately before you can consider being a contender.

suddsParticipantWell like I said if everyone on the team were trade pieces, what could you land with them to start rebuilding, then who might you add with a top 5 pick in the upcoming draft to that, to get us on the right track? Is there anyone you really wouldn’t trade?

delfamParticipantEnes Kanter would be a perfect compliment to Bargnani, he could even cover the C and Bargnani the PF if that was needed. If you lock in Derozan at the 3 and Bargnani at the 5, they need 3 positions. So Kanter and Brandon Knight are probably the best 2 options.

You need a defensive big to compliment an offensive big

OMARtheLEGENDParticipantMan I could talk about this all day, First off lets start from the top, Some rich billionarie needs to buy the raptors becasue MLSE is the biggest bunch of Corrupt frauds in the nba. They try to pull a blind fold over our eyes by hyping the young gunz and bargnani and in reality out of all the players on our team i only have faith in Demar for the future. This second step is imperative WE MUST FIRE JAY TRIANO!!!! This guy is by far the worst coach in nba the guy just isnt cut out to be a head coach he is too soft. Id rather see PJ carlisamo just take the reighns for the rest of the season. Thirdly we have to draft a young point guard that can create offense ala Kyrie Irving if the raptors franchise can get a hold of someone like him they have a long term future, i have dreams of him playing along side the young althetic players the raps have( Demar, Ed Davis)

PaulsJayhawksParticipantSome assumption must be made that the Raps will fall somewhere near the bottom although I fear they have shown that they can compete and will be average and not bad enough to finish in the bottom 5 which as a Raps fan I think they need to do.
Center-Overpay for Gasol only way to get him. Can you get a restricted FA using the Bosh TPE? With Memphis pouring $$ into Conely not sure they can resign him. Ed Davis as Back up or Amir and Ed to PF
Power forward-Bargs and Amir or Ed
Sf- Draft Barnes or Jones and Kliza(good 6th man)
SG-Derozan and Barbosa
PG-?? and Jack
I would love to see us pick up another borderline lottery and nab Selby or Corey Joseph using a combo of the following assets (reggies expiring, banks expiring, weems, calderon and Miami’s first). Hopefully a borderline playoff team wants to make a push and want a veteran )

raps26ParticipantI personnaly think some key players are there to a good squad.
If they could draft Kyrie Irving and pick up a good centre (like DeAndre Jordan)
they wouldnt be half bad
btw what about reggie evans??????

suddsParticipantOwnership and coach are big ongoing issues, although it doesn’t worry me since we haven’t really had a team to dream about since Vince Carter actually cared about being one of the best players in the league. It really would be a beautiful day if we land the first pick(Barnes) and maybe another first rounder.
I would love to add Oden for a decent contract. If he ever stayed healthy I think he`d be better than Dwight. I think Aminu would be a cheap add, at this point, and well we are at it, it would be nice to shed Calderon somehow and bring back Bledsoe, or Chalmers. Both Serviceable back ups who could develop. I think that would allow our management to draft for talent outright. Barg(especially) and Derozan I would sell high on later this year with their inflated stats they are likely to have. Barg just isn`t the kind of big you win with.
Would you send Barg and Jack to Portland for Batum, Oden and Fernandez?
