Heat activate Greg Oden for Wednesday game vs. Wizards

SO AMPED! Am a huge Oden supporter, so am particularly happy to hear he is now activated. Not sure if that means he plays tonight or not, just certainly seems like it is a possibility. Would be great if he could get 10-15 minutes over the season, maybe more. Best of luck to the big man, sure it has been a long, difficult journey.

He hasn’t practiced with the team yet so I doubt he actually gets any minutes tonight. I’m rooting for the guy. Looking forward to seeing what he can do once he’s ready to play.

And in Oden’s first play in the NBA in years, he grabs an offensive rebound and slams it down! He looked very quick and athletic on that play.

He wasn’t scheduled to play, did any way. They are indeed down by 30, what the hell? Got a board than put it back up for a dunk. Looks good, will say that. Man, if he can get a good few minutes to start off with, he could at the very least help them on the boards BIG TIME. Of course I would hope for more, just taking it slowly. First NBA game in 1502 days. Amazing. Now, the Heat have played absolutely abysmally in this one, this may be the one bright spot for them here.

Just am so damn happy Greg is back. Undying, delusional fan of his. Get a lot of flack for it, lol. Drains his FT’s! WAY TO GREG! Man, just really crossing my fingers for the guy. He is not looking bad out there, at all. Tough on D, getting his hands on the ball! He is coming back in style. Plus the Heat are now within 28! (have to have watched this one to understand why that is a good thing, lol).
Bron to Oden! I HAVE WAITED FOR THIS DAY! Don’t look now, Heat may have this under a couple of decades soon!

I hope I’m not overstating what Oden has done but he has locked up the paint since he came in and is moving well without the ball. Heat were down 34 at one point and down 24 now, dare I say it was Oden’s energy and D that sparked this run?

Seriously, it is not at all an overstatement to say that taking a chance on Oden is better than sticking with Joel Anthony (especially in financial terms, they saved a ton on that deal). If Greg works his way into the rotation, which judging by his play and their bigs he absolutely should, huge boost for the Heat. Like they needed it, but lets face it, against the Pacers, certainly wouldn’t hurt.

Seriously though, this game is such a cluster phuck for the Heat, but it is all about Oden! Oh, and being happy if you are a Wizards fan watching this one!

Absolutely fantastic to see Greg Oden back on court in an offical NBA game, after his little pre-season cameo we hadn’t heard anything. But with Joel Anthony traded they had to have extra big man depth on the bench, his first basket was well taken and he is +3 for his minutes played.
Despite all the hype about him in college and his awful injury luck, Greg has always remained one of the good guys, a player that the neutral will root for due to his humble attitude and quiet demeanour.
We cannot start getting too carried away about his 8 minute cameo and we will have to see how his knees come out of this game. But Miami can gradually increase his minutes if he gets no adverse reaction to playing, his game fitness will improve the more he plays and we’ll need to see if he can play back to back games also.
Certainly if Miami do meet the Pacers in the play offss, big Greg will be very useful to try and combat Roy Hibbert.

Cool to see him finally playing again. Dude could’ve become one of the most dominant centers in the league (and NBA history) if not for those awful injuries. Hopefully he can continue to provide a spark off the Heat bench this year.
