Now as a Hawks fan, Im starting to think of many deals we can continue to build for the future. If we miss out on Howard/Paul, I expect Ferry to look to build through next year’s Draft, rather than spend money foolishly. We got two great value picks, with potential this year in Schroeder and Nogueira. If we go the route of building through the draft, and keeping cap space for next year’s free agency, unfortunately having Horford alone is nearly good enough to win enough games in the east to be a playoff contender. Horford is a great person, not a great player. I suggest we shop him, and I think Orlando would be interested. Assuming they complete the Afflalo for Bledsoe deal, they’re only need is at pf. Horford being a former Gator, is a nice fit and brings a veteran presence. Orlando has two talented Sf prospects.

    Atlanta sends Al Horford
Orlando sends Harris or Harkless pluss unprotected 2014 pick

Orlando has a complete team, playoff team, that’s young and has a lot of room to grow and improve together.
    Bledsoe-Oladipo-Harris/Harkless-Horford-Vuvecic

Hawks has 3 young prospects to build with in Schroeder-Harris/Harkless-Nogueira, plus two picks in next year’s Draft. Hawks will now guarantee a top pick, and if Harris or Harkless shows a lot of promise, Hawks can even consider making a killing on trading a top two pick if they get it.

    Thoughts?

Seems like a good deal for both.

The Orlando Magic are called the Magic, not the Magics…get that straight. This trade wouldn’t happen because the Magic are still in rebuilding mode, and do not want to take on the contract of Horford, plus give up an unprotected pick which is likely going to be a lottery pick. The trade idea is not bad, but would only work if the Magic want to win, and to win now. Also the trade would not make them contenders right off the bat.

    WHAT?!?!

The Magic have a legitimate chance at Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker. Why would they give that up and either Harkless or Harris for Al Horford? Horford is a talented center but he isn’t franchise changing. It’s a great trade for Atlanta, not Orlando, there’s no reason for Orlando to do this.

Why would they want yet another small forward next to Harris and Vucevic?

Orlando management has shown no interest in a long rebuilding process. And if they do deal for Bledsoe, they are instantly playoff contenders in the East.

        Instantly playoff contenders…um, no.

They become better, they get up to a 25-30 win team if they don’t do this deal (which I don’t see why they’d give up a chance on acquiring Wiggins or Parker to land Horford, it’s a stupid trade) and get Bledsoe just by having a competent PG (Nelson’s career is winding down), but getting Bledsoe doesn’t make them an instant playoff team. That said, the back end of the playoff picture of the East is wide open. Miami, Chicago, Indiana, New York and Brooklyn are all playoff teams. The 6-8 seeds are wide open, I think Washington has a good chance to get there, Detroit has a shot as well, Toronto will contend, Atlanta can contend too. Orlando could get there if they wanted too but I don’t see why they would be so desperate to be a 6-8 seed.
