Lafferty DanielParticipantThe Sixers traded Spencer Hawes to the Cavs for two 2014 2nd round picks per Woj @ yahoo.

Lafferty DanielParticipantWonder if the Cavs trade Tyler Zeller now.

CavFanPRParticipantLove it!!! Sims will probably be cut to make room for Hawes.

Ebown5ParticipantThere obviously have to be some salaries involved too so there will be more information coming out. As a Sixers fan it would suck to lose him for two second rounders and a waste contract.
Hopefully there is something meaningful coming along with those picks.

vulture711ParticipantWe weren’t going to resign him and he’d be gone at the end of the season for nothing. Cleveland has their own and the Magics seconds – I hope one of the picks is one of those.

machu46ParticipantMy guess is it’ll just be someone like Alonzo Gee going back, or maybe they’ll take on Jason Thompson as part of the Jarrett Jack 3-team trade.
Sounds like they got Orlando’s 2nd round pick from Cleveland, which is a pretty good pick.

Ebown5ParticipantHaven’t had confirmation on that yet, but if it is Orlando’s pick then it is at least close to a first rounder. Still distasteful to lose a good player for this though.
Hawes can be a valuable piece to a good team. He will never be a star, but he could play 30 minutes a night on a title contender for sure in the right situation.

TyroberParticipantThought the Sixers could have gotten more for Hawes. I didn’t think they would get a 1st round pick or anything, but assumed that the could get a young potential player.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantEarl Clark is the player in the deal.

KHAM83ParticipantI thought that unless they got an offer they couldn’t refuse, they were better off keeping him. Everyone is thinking Hawes will be too expensive to retain this off-season, but I’m not so sure. I really don’t see anyone throwing more that 6 million a year at him. At that price, I think he should be retained. He can both play alongside Noel as well be a great backup to him. I just don’t see the rush to trade him, Young or even Evans. I think you can have more options in sign and trade scenarios this off-season as well.

hbomb3300ParticipantFinally the Cavs make a move that I’m happy with… Hawes will add great spacing for Waiters and Irving and we needed a center pretty badly.

TRC1991ParticipantHawes is a nice addition to the Cavs. Fits well with Varejao and Thompson. What he lacks in defense he makes up for with his floor-spacing

ibe12ParticipantHawes for two second round picks is about right to me. In a draft like this two second round picks has the same value as one late first rounder. The Sixers now have seven total picks which I’m pretty sure they’ll use to move up in the draft with their Pelican pick or get another low level first round pick.

DolanCareParticipantGood move for Philly I suppose. Not like Hawes was in their long-term plans. I guess there’s no such thing as too many draft picks.

BA30ParticipantI am curious about everyone’s thoughts on the grade for this trade from ESPN. They give the Cavs a D because they gave up 2 second round picks this year for a rental just because they won 6 in a row against bad teams. As a Cavs fan, although making the playoffs in the 7th or 8th seed means an early exit, young players need to experience the playoffs and winning. The constant losing has to be tough on these kids.
