OMARtheLEGENDParticipantH"Im going to start my rant by saying this "Greg Oden is a BUST". I know there are afew ppl that will back me in this arguement . Im not posting this just to cause a conflict, it is quite the opposite i want all the homers to help me understand why after 4 seasons greg oden is still the "untouchable game changer" that he was in highschool. The great part about all this is someone will say hey man i saw him in a scrimmage and he was a beast……..BIG DEAL there are many great practice players and it must be great for a guy like greg oden when you dont have to play more than half of every season and you still have a huge fan following that is enstilled in the belief that at some point he will turn it around. I will reiterate the fact again greg oden is a bust im mean plz ppl lets be real everyone and there momma know the blazers should have picked kevin durant but the trailblazers repeated a grave mistake that they had done years ealier, if you dont know i am refering to sam bowie. Sam bowie is widley regarded as one of the biggest busts in nba history mostlybecause of the imensly skilled players selected after him (Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley Etc.) but if you look at sams stats you’ll see he was a decent nba center if not for the fact he was very injury prone, look you guys arent stupid look at the similarites between the two. I mean sure greg oden may have/had talent and upside coming out of the draft but we have given him His chances and what has he shown us? At the most he may be a back up center. Frankliy, he really isnt all that talented sure he can block a shot and grab a rebound but have you seen the guy play he is a lost puppy on offence has no idea what he is doing and is foul prone. So all these insane predictions that he gunna average 16pts and 12 rebs are absolutly wild and the greg oden homers need to revaluate their expectaions of a overhyped, unproven, cluster f.uck center" Im sure most of you wont remeber but i started this thread months ago and I got a bunch of excuses on why i was wrong about Greg "no knees" Oden, well guys Id hate to say i told you so but what can you do right?…….. Im loving the fact that i was right about GO and im going to assume that we can agree that he is now finally a bust. 82 games in four seasons whatta pick portland anyways i guess ill leave it on that note…..

midwestbbscoutParticipantI don’t think its fair to call him a bust…..anyone can get hurt….and he produces when he plays so…..I don’t feel bad for or about anyone or anything EVER but I feel bad for Oden…..calling him a bust is the closest thing to calling Len Bias a bust….

llperezhe’s been injured. ANy man on this earth who cant play becasue of injuries can be titled a bust. We have no idea what he could have done if healthy. BUt if it makes you feel good to say you called it, then go right ahead.

Cusemen727ParticipantThe only thing Oden has going for him right now is that hes still so young, so who knows, but I do think its fair to call him a bust, the man has done absolutely nothing for being the number 1 pick, and I kno some people are going to say you cant call someone a bust because of injuries, which is somewhat true, but in this case you cant keep making exscuses for the man. Dont get me wrong here tho, I dont dislike the man, and I do hope he gets healthy and can become a servicable center, I just dont see it happening.

McWinningParticipantYou realize this guy would still be playing in college if he hadnt declared (redshirt for injury).
Hes still young, of course the injuries are bad but the guy was very good last year when he played, didnt get alot of minutes, but was effective with them, theres no doubt the talents its just can he stay healthy, Durant will have a better career, but Oden didnt have injury problems coming out of college so i dopnt think it was a bad pick at the time.

mikeyvthedonParticipantCongrats Omar. I know I would feel really happy if someone I for some reason predicted to be injured really got hurt and missed the season. Must make you happy for someone else’s misery. I mean, that person never playing just means that you could in no way be wrong about his abilities, so that is a savior. By the way, how many games did Omar Cook play in the NBA? Oh, 22, I guess that is one more than Greg played in last year. But, he is a legend, and for liking him, you are not a "homer", right? Man, I know Greg Oden was not the player all of us who defended him thought he might be, but to write the "I told you so" thing, you have to really be looking for attention. Well, you got it man. What you could do is actually feel bad about being right, or, you know, have a soul rather than hope for the down fall of someone who has presumably done nothing to you. But, you obviously are the bigger man. Just think Omar, WWOD? What Would Omar Do? The real Omar. He would probably think you were a complete prick, but that is just my opinion. I hoped for Omar Cook’s success and was upset when he did not make NBA teams. Why do you feel the need to be right about total negativity? Poor guy.

MuggsyParticipantIt’s really a sad thing and not something to mock. I can just imagine what’s going on in his head as I was injured my freshman year in high school and was unable to play neither football nor basketball and how much it distraught me.
I really like Oden and wish him the best, but he is still pretty young and I believe he still has a chance to be a solid starting center in the NBA for years to come.
