I really liked this quote from Haslem:

“But as soon as the Heat take a stand and hit back, it’s not funny anymore. Rabbit hunting is fun. But it ain’t funny when the rabbit has the gun.”

Everybody always says, "foul LeBron hard" "make Wade regret going into the paint" "Don’t let Dwight even sniff the rim, hold him down"  "If you have to flagrant Griffin, then do so"

Coaches, players, and fans want these guys to get hit but when their team goes right back and retaliates, it’s not okay.  It’s a cheap shot.  It’s unfair.  Suspensions should follow.

At least now other players know that they shouldn’t mess with Wade or LeBron.  I also think guys like Reggie Evans and Kenyon Martin should be doing the same thing with Blake Griffin.  Taj Gibson and Omar Asik should do the same for Derrick Rose.  Perkins for Westbrook.  Each team with a superstar needs an enforcer like this, someone who’s not afraid to go toe to toe with another player.  It adds toughness to your team, adds confidence to your superstar, and lets the other team know that you’re not backing down, you’ll go blow-for-blow, literally.

Too bad the NBA has gone soft recently.  If John Stockton was even touched back in the day, you better believe Karl Malone was going to be in your face.  You push Isiah Thomas?  Bill Laimbeer was going to wipe the floor with you on the other end.

I remember Oakley did this for Vince in Toronto in his early years and also for Jordan as well.

I’m sure Perkins will happily jump at the chance to smash someone’s face in on the court

    This is kind of comical…

IF Haslem really wanted to prove a point, he’d have hit West like that. He’s no enforcer. He just took out a guy that he knew wouldn’t jump up and knock him the F out.

Why would he hit West when West didn’t touch Wade?

He might as well jump out on the stands and knock out Larry Bird, he has just as much of an inclusion in the Hansbrough/Wade foul than West.

West didn’t give Wade a hard foul, but he sure tried to give one to LeBron.

It was so funny when he tried to give Lebron the hard foul cause West was the one who fell, Lebron stayed up and walked straight to the foul line. haha

Why wouldnt he hit West? If it really is about sending a message, why not retaliate on one of the Pacers studs (Granger or West). Sending a message that you can take out Tyler Hansbrough doesnt seem all that intimidating to me.

Nobody got in Hansbroughs face after the hard foul on Wade, and Haslem retaliated with an even cheaper shot. Thats just being a douche, not having your teammates back. If he wouldve at least looked like he was trying to block the shot, he probably wouldnt have been suspended, so it seemed like a pretty stupid play.

I’m all for standing up for your teammates and sending a message, but cheap shotting a simple role player who’s role is to play hard and physical which sometimes leads to hard fouls is not the way to do it in my opinion.

Hansbrough came in hard , hit Wade and drew some blood. Now Hansbrough also got some ball so it was sort of a basketball play  but it was clearly a message play from Hansbrough about there being a price to be paid in the paint. Haslem’s hit seemed pay back but fine payback. I thought threes handled it right on the court. I don’t think Hansbrough even really minded, he probably knew it was coming. Haslem doesn’t get suspended if Pittman doesn’t do his cheap elbow shot which makes the league think the series might get out of control.

But yes, back in the day Oak and Lambier would have done the same think Haslem did except it would have been harder, hurt more, and it would have been a little more sneaky and in the flow of the game so there was no chance of suspension.

Then I guess Andrew Bynum should’ve tried to take out D. Wade for "accidentally" breaking Kobe’s nose in an All-Star game…

     +1 Indiana

The Heat play dirty basketball. Wade has always been a somewhat sneeky dirty player. I remember he used to always go after Kobe like that and act as if he was just being physical. One play always stands out to me aside from the broken nose, came after Kobe had already began busting him up and ran across the lane and went straight to post up. Wade came running behind him and and flared his knee up to charlie horse the back of Kobe’s leg so much that it actually raised Kobe’s leg and got a reaction from him.

That whole team is full of softies, and I’m sorry but that was just uncalled for. Be a man and stand up for your boy when the foul occurs. Don’t wait until another play and try and "enforce" the foul. He talks about other people"KG" being studio gangsters, well I think he needs to take a look in the mirror himself. Dexter Pittma’s foul on Stephenson wasn’t needed either as it’s not like Lance was trying to fight LBJ. He simply called him out for being a choke artist and talking a little smack. Elbow across the throat so hard that it made a 7ft 285lbs man drop to the floor to me is no less terrible than Artest swinging an elbow towards Harden. LBJ and his teammates just always love to play the "us against the world" card. He did it in Cleveland as well because Mo Williams wasn’t voted an all-star which he ultimately did get in because of injury and LBJ whining.
