MUbballfanParticipantThe Harrison twins, consensus top 5 players in the class of 2013 and highly ranked NBA prospects, are deciding between the colleges of Kentucky and Maryland this Thursday. Kentucky and Calipari are the favorite. Whichever school lands them immediately is put into the National Title conversation.

HaleParticipantThat’s pretty cool that they aren’t wasting our time by waiting forever. Good to see them decide early.

Wahoo757ParticipantCan someone inform me why the Harrison twins are interested in Maryland? Do they have some sort of family connection to the university? I don’t get it.

SiggyParticipantTheir father went to Maryland and they have a lot of family in the area.
They’re going to Kentucky though. With them announcing this early they’re basically saying that they got first dibs. They’re not waiting to see who else is committing to see if they fit. Any subsequent commitments are gonna have to fit around them now.

SiggyParticipantNvm, their dad didn’t go there but he’s originally from the Baltimore area, so they do have a lot of family there. Their dad also is also cool with Mark Turgeon, the Terps coach.
There’s also a possible endorsement connection (similar to Shabazz) since the Harrisons are affiliated with Under Armour via their AAU team. Maryland’s an Under Armour school. Under Armour’s CEO is also a Maryland grad.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantIts Obviously Kentucky. but dude is right, Shabazz went to UCLA because of Adidas, so i wouldnt be surprised if they pick Maryland because of Under Armour and there father wants them to go there. Under Armour has sent my youngbul Ryseed Jordan tons of products, so he might go to Maryland if they choose Kentucky. But if the Harrisons choose Maryland, Sheed will not go there. Yall are right, they want first dibs, Like Tyler Ennis did wit Syracuse

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantOk fellow DMV peeps. We need to all pray tonight that we get the twins just like we did in getting RG3. Lol. But really this is interesting. Turg will be visiting the twins on Weds and then they announce thurs. Harrison Sr has been friends with the assistant coach for many many years. If I had to bet I’d say UK but it seems to be very close because even the scouts say that right now it’s looking like 50/50

MUbballfanParticipantI would agree it is close but I think the vision of being one and dones on a NC caliber team under a coach who is an expert at winning with freshman (UK) will look like a better situation than having to lead a Maryland team that is far from being a NC contender, even if they go there.

MUbballfanParticipantyou could argue they want to play near family and under coaches they know, but usually kids trying to be one and dones like they are forget about the family/connections factor and go to the school with the best chance of winning a NC.

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantTrue. But Maryland would be a national title contender as well
Andrew Harrison
Aaron Harrison
Dez
Faust
Shaq
Alex Len
Jake LymanLen,Faust and Dez are projected first rounders (Len if he leaves next season) and Shaq,Jake have NBA in their future according to scouts
If Twins go to UK and they get the guys they are projected to get that could be e best class ever
Twins
Randle
Wiggins
Lee
Young
Possibly Gordon0- Posted on: Tue, 10/02/2012 - 12:21pm #717640

MUbballfanParticipantThey would have a very good team at Maryland if they went there btu UK would be unstoppable if they went there and they know it. Realistically I would say Wiggins, Randle, and the Harrson twins, along with Derek Willis, will be at UK next year. Young will likely look elsewhere, I’m not sure about Lee, and Gordon will likely stay on the west coast.
