White ChocolateParticipantHarrison Barnes is returning to North Carolina, he will make it official on Tuesday.
That means this draft just got a lot weaker, with Sullinger and Barnes returning someone who we thought wouldn’t go in the top five, will.

ilike.panochasParticipantNext year is going to be so loaded with great SF prospects, Quincy Miller, Gilchrist, Barnes, Lebryan Nash, McAdoo, Tony Mitchell, and Anthony Davis (if you consider him a SF).
0 - Posted on: Sun, 04/03/2011 - 6:50pm #517572

TeamShowtimeLakersParticipantdang another good prospect out of the draft.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 04/03/2011 - 7:18pm #517575

akhan786ParticipantMaybe Kyrie will hopefully come back too so that he can finally partake in the UNC Duke rivalry and see if he can beat Barnes.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 04/03/2011 - 7:32pm #517580

Dale WorthingtonParticipantUNC will be legendary next year if Henson comes back.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 04/03/2011 - 7:44pm #517585

xavier328ParticipantWere going to need Henson and Zeller to come back next year to be legendary….Barnes cant do it behimself….Next year is going to be fun!
0 - Posted on: Sun, 04/03/2011 - 7:47pm #517586

White ChocolateParticipantCan you imagine a line-up of:
PG Kendall Marshall
SG Harrison Barnes
SF James McAdoo
PF John Henson
C Tyler Zeller
That would be the best team in the nation easily if Henson and Zeller return.

rileymcshea3Participantdont forget about duke adding rivers and quin to the plumlee bro
0 - Posted on: Sun, 04/03/2011 - 7:54pm #517590

butidonthavemoneyProps to Aran. Draft.net was the only major scouting site to not have Barnes in his 2011 mock.
Classy decision by Barnes, and this means great things for the Tar Heels.

jaysmith1987ParticipantIf unc doesnt win it all next year Roy Williams should be on the hotseat I mean really. Let’s not forget P.J. Hairston is coming next year with Bullock returning they should have all the shooting athleticism a team needs the only team that could be on this level Is Kentucky if jones and knight return.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 04/03/2011 - 8:11pm #517593

xavier328ParticipantCousinsfan i cant see Roy Starting McAdoo…
PG:KM
SG:Strickland
SF:Barnes
PF:Henson
C:Zeller
6 man:
MacAdoo
If they all come back were going to have a heck of a bench!
0 - Posted on: Sun, 04/03/2011 - 8:41pm #517600
wenichParticipantHope UNC and Kentucky are still scheduled to play in the regular season next year…Really looking forward to that game and the Duke games

Charlie SheenParticipantKentucky-Duke-North Carolina
All powerhouses and Memphis who will be stacked in the Final 4
0 - Posted on: Sun, 04/03/2011 - 9:40pm #517613
iminipandaParticipantI think with all the frosh returning to school next year there is definitely a lot of room for someone to creep into the top 5. Kemba has to be a darkhorse to possibly be picked as high as 5th because of his teams phenomenal tournament run.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 04/03/2011 - 10:22pm #517619

Dale WorthingtonParticipantI wish Honeycutt would have returned to UCLA. Would have given UNC a formidable foe out West.
0- Posted on: Mon, 04/04/2011 - 12:04am #517626

Sasha4MVPParticipantYep. Well UCLA is turning into UNC 2.0 so that would be an interesting matchup. I hope Honeycutt somehow changes his mind and Lee returns as well. UCLA could easily be a top 5-10 team. The season after that we may have 3/5 of our starting lineup be former Tar Heels haha

TRC1991Participantdont forget missouri…they lose just 1 guy (justin safford) and hopefully tony mitchell puts his big boy pants on and shows up
PG-Flip Pressey/Michael Dixon
SG-Marcus Denmon/Matt Pressey
SF-Kim English/Ricky Kreklow
PF-Laurence Bowers/Tony Mitchell
C-Ricardo Ratliffe/Steve Moore

Anton123ParticipantThis good enough?
Next year NCAA will be way more exiting than this year, so many players to watch!
0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/04/2011 - 3:04am #517641

Toronto16ParticipantNCAA is going to be great next year, and the NBA Draft next year is going to be so great.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/04/2011 - 3:16am #517643

DanEboyParticipantYeah but we still don’t know if guys like Gilchrist, Nash, Davis and so on will be one and done players. No one really expected Sullinger and Barnes to come back so we just have to wait until we declare next season’s draft as great yet.
The season will be great though.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/04/2011 - 3:32am #517645

i’m jus so offendedParticipant@taylor, no dude, hopefully u just saw the mizzou hire, plus no one knows if the pressey bros are even staying yet, ish we dont know if anyone is staying for real yet
0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/04/2011 - 4:49am #517659
ScottydoeParticipantPG Marshall, Strickland, White
SG Hairston, Mcdonald
SF Barnes, Simmons, Bullock
PF Henson, Mcadoo
C Zeller, Hubert (narrowed down to maryland and NC)
That would be the best lineup in the country no doubt
0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/04/2011 - 4:59am #517664
mj23mj23besteverParticipantwith sure fire lottery picks like sull and barnes going back imo sum lesser lotto talent such as henson may go ahead and declare too get drafted higher this year
0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/04/2011 - 5:10am #517673

TRC1991Participantyou didnt like the frank haith hire? and why did mike anderson leave?! it had to have been a fat jump in his contract
0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/04/2011 - 7:00am #517707

HaleParticipantI’m excited to see what he can do next year. I normally like the one and dones to go but the class that he and Sullinger have shown is great. Next year is going to be the most anticpated year of college basketball for me since the year Rose was a freshman.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/04/2011 - 7:13am #517713
The lake show2Toy Mitchell is not a first or second round draft pick right now. Have you seen him play?..Good athlete but still learning to be a Sf( mostly a Pf at this point). Plus he has to prove what he can do against college comp before he is even mentioned with those other guys
Roy wouldnt be on the hot seat ven if they didnt win it all. there have been better teams in the past that didnt win even though they were Super talented

HitsterParticipantSolid move by Harrison Barnes another year under Coach Williams will surely help him develop. The Tar Heels line up next year will probably be as strong as the 2005 Championship winning one and I can see some similarities there with some top guys returning and hot freshmen like McAdoo coming in like Marvin Williams was back in 2004-05 season.
It will be interesting to see how Coach Williams uses his roster if Henson returns as McAdoo could find himself on the bench which would make sense as he could play around Barnes and Henson.
With so many guys returning, I wonder how the incoming freshmen will feel as people like McAdoo probably thought he may be the focal point of the Tar Heels team next year when he committed to them and now he could find himself not even in the starting line up. Likewise if Kyrie Irving returned then Austin Rivers may find himself having to play 2nd fiddle or off the ball alongside him. It could almost bring the two year removed rule from HS in by default but if the players play well even with lesser opportunities they can all still be drafted highly as Kentucky proved last year with 5 guys all going in the first round.
The 2012 draft is looking really stacked and probably the most depth since 2008 on early viewing, I wonder how many GM’s will look to move 2011 picks for 2012 ones at this year’s draft.

OnionsParticipantNext year is going to have a few great teams. For the first time since, 2005? UNC and Illinois were great teams. Both would have ran through the NCAA Tournament these last two seasons. Louisville and Arizona were very good teams as well.
I’m interested to see Reggie Bullock healthy. Was big on him out of high school and last year he played with a bum knee before it reached the point of surgery. If he’s healthy, that is a real deep team.
Marshall/Strickland/White
Strickland/McDonald/Hariston
Barnes/Bullock/Hariston
Henson/McAdoo
Zeller/McAdoo
With Watts, Simmons, and potentially Hubert and/or Cannon off the deep bench. Geez.

speedevilto the 2013 draft.
i think barnes stay 2 more years.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/04/2011 - 9:24am #517786
The lake show2It actually helps when you come in and dont have to be the focal point. It hides alot of you’re weakness.
Next years Carolina team is gonna be pretty deep and it should be interesting how they do beause the expectations are gonna be very very high. I can see Marshall averaging 10 ast a game next year with the talent he will have around him and a year of experience under his belt
0 - Posted on: Tue, 04/05/2011 - 6:08am #518209
koppa33ParticipantI think with the collection of talent this could be a amazing team. Not a top team for next year but one of the all-time greatest teams. Look at the NBA caliber players Barnes, Zellar, Henson, McAdoo. Then you have guys who have potential to make it in the NBA Marshall, Bullock, Hairston. I see alot of people have put Marshall in 2012 mock but come on. Slow not the best jumper and ways away from being a good defender. Dont get me wrong I love Marshall’s game but definetly not ready for the NBA. Oh and McAdoo stays atleast 2 years. He has always wanted to be a Tarheel and he doesnt need money.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 04/05/2011 - 6:23am #518214

omphalosParticipantYeah I don’t think staying another year helps his draft stock given the perceived strength of next year’s class of one and dones. That said, another year learning to be the go-to guy with the right PG from the start should be interesting. Kentucky vs UNC is going to be huge.

Marshall has the point guard game of a 38-year old Jason Kidd, and it really is funny to see a 19-year old have that kind of old man game.

lifeontobaccoroadParticipantYou guys do know that the Harrison Barnes staying stuff was just a product of some Iowa shock jock. Its the same guy who said it was a lock Barnes was going to Duke. Barnes confirmed as much when he said he hadn’t talked to Roy Williams or his parents about the decision. Expect an announcement sometime next week, along with Kyrie Irving’s decision as well. Henson is set to announce on Saturday, per Henson himself.
