Good luck Cleveland. And I bet they won’t even get the first pick if they are the worst team in the league (which they will be.)

And Dan Gilbert needs to shut up. Stop being a sore loser. LeBron is the best thing to ever happen to your franchise.

Get real… Put yourself in Dan Gilbert’s and the rest of Ohio’s shoes.

That letter was all emotion, but think about what LeBron just put the state of Ohio through… He’s done a lot, no denying that, but what he just put them through wasn’t cool at all.

LeBron has lost all respect in my book. He’s a self-centered egomaniac punk ass.

A owner should at least pretend to have more sense than that. This is a business. He had to know to it was going to happen. It made little basketball sense for Lebron to stay.

That’s not the problem. The problem is how LeBron went about this… How he treated the state where he was born and rasied.

Cleveland took care of him… His family, his friends… He could’ve treated them A LOT better. They deserved better than to go through this insane free-agency crap and to find out his decision on national television. Who does LeBron think he is? Does he really think he’s a King?

I’ve always thought LeBron was a creep. What team leader would flirt OPENLY with another team and allow free-agency talk to go on for TWO years??? He invited the media and let them run away with this… LeBron’s ego has always been bigger than the team, but people were fooled because he could pass a basketball like Magic. LeBron has always been selfish in my book even when he throws ten assists.

Lebron is easy to hate because he seems so arragont. It could very well be ESPN’s fault for making this such a big deal but this entire process has made me hate him more. Plus after watching more than a game he seems like a huge geek. That being said he was the best thing to ever happen to cleveland, but did they expect him to stay there for 15-20 years with a mediocre team trying to win a championship? Renting 5 cabannas in South Beach and playing with 2 all stars sounds like a great idea to me. I can understand why Gilbert is so upset but he needs to act like an adult about it. And really the cavs winning a championship before Miami? That is a joke considering sometime after 9 pm on ESPN their entire franchise got set back about 15 years.

Butler im going to break this down the best i can

Cleveland took care of him? He was in poverty his whole life. Now he is someone big with alots of money and they care about him. Where was the city when he was on the streets? Ok shut up.

He flirted with other teams? Dallas, NYC, yet he ended up in Miami weird right, not any of the teams he was flirting with too.

The fact is The had their chance to give him a championship team. Mo Williams, Jamison, Shaq are not that big of moves when the lakers are getting Pau, Artest. Boston got Pierce allen Garnett. No one wants to go to Cleveland so what is he suppose to do.

he didnt handle it wrong, he handled it like someone who knew they were going to make a big deal about it no matter what so why not give back to the B&G club.

You know, Charles Barkley made the same exact statements you did and he got blasted for it. People were telling him he should mind his business and keep his mouth shut. I say kudos to both you and Barkley for calling him out on his BS.

Is LeBron a nice guy? Yes
Is he humble and thankful for his skills? Yes
Is he an egomaniac? Yes, unfortunately

I lost a lot of respect for him, one for using the city of Cleveland as a pawn basically for the last 2 years, two for demanding all this time to burn the city of Cleveland, and three for basically tarnishing what could have been a great legacy. He could have been the man who saved Cleveland basketball, but he threw it away in my opinion. He’ll probably get his rings, but it will look like he rode on the coattails of of the two biggest free agents of his era to do it, and that he couldn’t do it by himself with his own talent around him as the flash point. That’s going to be his legacy in the eyes of many.

I don’t think the man was dirt poor. I think he lived a comfortable lifestyle. Its not like he was playing every game in the same Nikes he had since he was 15 or something.

Yes, he did a lot for that city. He is a very generous and charitable man, and he’s humble to boot. But that does not give him the right to use his hometown team as a pawn and openly flirt with other teams and pique their respective interest as well, just to use an hr of everyone’s time to burn them as well. It was a real selfish move on his part.

cavs should not have had to wait until an hour long special in prime time to find out that lebron was leaving. He did them dirty on that one. Lebron will tarnish his legacy to an extent. All champions need help, but this will look like him finding the best team to get one. Magic, Michael, Bird and KObe all did their work with one franchise as the man. Wade is a former champion and all first team alpha male type who plays the same role lebron does. Lebron wont ever be able to make that claim now.

With that said, i have no hate for him leaving or joining his buddies. He should have just handled it diffently.

so cavs here you go,,,,,,let this be ah lesson to you
when u get harrison barnes…[IF YOU GET} I should say……love ya players but dont treat him as if he is bigger then the team its self cause last time i checked 1 player does not win ah chip…….

Reason Cavs didn’t win a championship was because they didn’t build their team the right way. Even if they had won, they weren’t geared towards long-term success. They had some nice pieces in Hickson and Varejao but they weren’t given the chance to develop and grow as a team. However, LeBron seemed intent on leaving all along, so the Cavs didn’t have much choice and were forced to try and win in a three year period. If they get Barnes (big if), they need to do it Thunder style and create a young team that can grow with their franchise player rather than scrapping on whoever they can find. If this Heat team breaks the 95-96 Bulls record of wins in a season it would be a joke. Any other team I would have understood, but this decision tarnishes what little parity remained in the League and will ruin any chance LeBron have of having a Jordanesque legacy. I really hope this Heat situation combusts.

First… Let’s drop the tough guy act. There’s no need to tell anybody to shut up. Plus I highly doubt you’d tell me in my face, so let’s cut that out.

Second… While I respect your opinion, you’re clueless. I wasn’t refering to LeBron as a youth. I was refering to LeBron the NBA player and if you don’t think the Cavs organization has taken care of him… You’re crazy. He had no limits in that organization. They treated him like royalty. He had no limits. They treated his family like royalty. They even treated his friends like royalty… Gave his friends jobs and access to things normal friends don’t have access to.

Third… You have a lack of understanding of the situation. It doesn’t matter who he ended up with. What matters is that for the last two years, he literally had an open love affair with the Knicks which was just disrespectful to his current team at the time. He allowed the media to bring up his free-agency… He encouraged them and enjoyed the attention… Which was also disrespectful. He allowed those things to overshadow his team and current teammates. What real leader would do that?

You’re a LeBron fan apparently and you’re entitled to your opinion. I have no problem with him leaving. I just think he could’ve shown better respect and appreciation for the people in Ohio that watched him grow up and who truly cared about him.

The decision to come to Miami was surely at least in part driven by the fact that Florida has no state income tax. That’s $13M over the life of his contract compared to some other teams.
