How good do u think harrison barnes can be in college? Will he be Kevin Durant good? Will he be better? Roy Williams says he recruited harder than any other recruit in his life. That says a lot about a recruit. Also, whats his NBA potential?

I think he can be a 20 ppg type of guy his freshmen year. Probably end up averaging 17-19 ppg, 6-7 rebounds and 2-3 assist. Impressive on a very deep team.

In terms of NBA potential, it’s hard to say. Gotta see him play more, but from what I’ve seen he’s skilled, talented, a good kid and has killer work ethic. I think he can be an all-star or at least borderline all-star.

Can’t wait till next year. This year has sucked as a UNC fan.

For teams like UNC and Duke it is hard to put up huge numbers because of the roster full of McD’s All Americans. You can’t just look at a boxscore, you have to watch them play to see the talent.

Dean Smith is the only man to hold Jordan to 20 points a game.

Kevin Durant…lets stop there i mean durant had one of if not the best fresman season ecev
when i watch him play I see a college soph/junior type maturity…his game is very
controlled..I can see him avg about 12-15ppg 5rpg and 2asst..I am sure Roy wish he
had him this year…He is a type of guy that has all the tools to be whatever type of player
he wants 2 be…I see him as a borderline allstar if everything ppl say about his work
ethic is true..The question is will he be one n done?

i feel Wall like things..i think like for Wall there will be alot “he needs to prove” “he is not ready” “he is good but don’t compare him to nba stars” and just 2-3 games will show who is who, i just feel he is also that phenomenal leader who needs to be 1st overall pick.

yes lets please please please stop. havent some of ya’ll bandwagon guys learned to just wait or at least not make definate statements?..do some of ya’ll recall during the summer the super hype about favors, henson? college, as we know is not highschool. players are bigger faster, smarter and better, in hs these guys are one of the oldest on the court in college they will be one of the youngest and in alot of cases it will be by 3 or more years. right now he shouldnt even be mentioned in the same breath as nba players

I don’t know. This UNC team will be deep and depending so…He might have great number like that.

I predict about 16ppg, 8rpg, 3apg. He will be very good. I expect him to be the top pick in 2011 because his incredible upside.

i think youre pushing it with those stats. how many freshmen come to good teams and put up those type numbers. especially rebounding from the sf spot

Depends. With those projections…I believe he might play some 4 a little bit.

He’s really good and I think he’ll be a very great one-and-done player, I have no idea what his stats will be though. My comparison is Luol Deng, because he has that same long frame and mid-range game. He may be a better leaper though, but that’s a dead-on comparison IMO..

First to even mention some dude in high school in the same sentence with a player (Durant) who in his second pro season is on track to become one of the 25 greatest scorers the world has ever seen is (fill in the blank with negative description here). Barnes doesn’t even have a legit jumpshot yet. What he does have is one of the best handles in a player his size that I have ever seen. It’s actually unbelieveable how 99% of the time Barnes is the best ballhandler on the floor. He will be productive, but if he is the #1 pick in 2011, it will be based on his immense potential. BTW, Barnes as a prospect is NOT in the same class as Wall, Rose, Oden, Howard, or LeBron coming out of high school. The Barnes class is actually pretty weak by those standards.

I think next year’s lineup would be

    Strickland- Bullock- Barnes- Henson- Zeller.

barnes could play the four only if the wear twins and henson doesnt improve. its funny how some of ya’ll just go by the next hyped up hs sr if the freshman isnt blowing people out of the water with there play. ya’ll forget overall henson was a better player as a hs sr then barnes was as a jr

The ones that are cutting Barnes short are all saying that he is a high school sr . What does this mean? Beasley, Rose, Durant, Carmelo, Mayo, and now Wall and Cousins were all high school sr the year before they tore up the NCAA’s. This kid is good. Yes he is playing against kids six or more inches smaller than him regularly in Iowa but don’t forget that he has also dominated against elite level competition during the summer.

I agree to a certain point that you can’t predict his NBA potential at this moment but it is very rare that the number 1 ranked high school player doesn’t do good on the college level. Gerald Green, Kwame Brown and Ndudi Ebi all were near the top of the rankings and did very poorly in the NBA, but I’d put money on it that they would’ve been much better college players had they’d gone that route.

because he needs to prove what he can do before people start anointing him the nexct. just like players before him had to prove. untill he does its only fair to cut him short. you named the ones that tore it up but what about the bj mullins, dandre jordans, wall judges, felipe lopez of the world. it can go both ways

I know the high school rankings had BJ Mullens ranked very high and in some even #1. I honestly have know idea how that happened. I do think that the transition from High School to College is harder on big men more than it is on gaurds and small forwards. I’m not sure where Jordan, Lopez or Judge (I still haven’t seen him play) were ranked, but we’re talking about the number 1 or 2 player on many different boards. All of them can’t be off can they?

i do think he will be pretty good but durant beasley rose are the exception not the rule.. him putting up deng numbers when deng was with duke is pretty realistic. also number one in hs doesnt mean number one nba potential. most have perry jones as the best potential and while i do agree with that i think jones will struggle in college more then barnes. he doesnt seem to adapt well in organized ball were as barnes does
