franfranParticipantthat you believe that Barnes will be the average at the end of the season?
I see 14.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1 steal, 0.6 bloks and return next season

RUDEBOY_ParticipantWOW!!! I can understand your post…I See that ”How to Communicate With Humans” book i sent you is working…lol
Barnes was way overrated from the start..I see alot of Luog Deng in his game…Some say he’s coming out ..But if he returns he can be a special player…

hiphopismylifeParticipantYeah i’d love for him to stick around, and I think he has the rare personality to do it. I think he genuinely cares about leaving his mark at UNC and wants to be a great player. I’ll still believe it when I see it, but I hope he does.

Anton123ParticipantIf both he and Henson stays UNC has no right not to be special in 2011-2012, they’ll have probably have:
McAdoo, Barnes, Henson, Zeller, Kendall Marshall and Reggie Bullock
NOt being a top 4 team would have to be considered a crime.

hiphopismylifeParticipantI agree 100%

Toronto16ParticipantThe next Marvin Williams.

cabbycabParticipant" The next Marvin Williams "
By that do you mean come out after a subpar Frosh season and get picked really high based on potential and then become mediocre pro?

midwestbbscoutParticipantneither one is gonna stay…..Henson’s stock is rising to the lottery and Barnes would have to play like me to drop out of the lottery….

Moon RiverParticipantI don’t see him coming out especially with the inevitable Lockout looming.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 12/10/2010 - 11:26am #455292

Meditated StatesParticipantHe will be better if he stays and the lockout is an issue and will be an issue

PureshooterParticipantAt this point I’d probably think about taking Zeller over Barnes if I was a scout, depending on need.

jaysmith1987ParticipantI think he probably goes pro just to save from not panning out and getting drafted in first round is better than getting picked up in second round. If he goes out this year even with the year hes had there is an excuse for his bad play that hes a freshman and he still has potential. If he comes back and still sucks then he has no excuse so I think he comes out but he falls in the draft ala BJ Mullens. If you watch Barnes play hes like a 6’8 Rashard Lewis just stays at the 3point line and looks ackward or allergic taking it to the whole. It would be different if he was shooting and missing but kept shooting and took it to the basket to draw fouls to find other ways to get buckets but he’s one dimensional if his shots not falling hes not gonna look to good. It’s clear all the people who seen him play before saw him play in aau were game is wide open and his shot was falling. He’s one of those guys who expects to win not wills his team to wins. The max potential player he looks like is Shane Battier his whole mannerisms are of a role player. I’m sick of these recruiting services seing a guy with a nice build and athleticism make a few nba moves in aau settings and then automatically making them top prospects.

thaprodigyParticipantPlease explain to me how you came up with 14.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1 steal, 0.6 blocks

Mr. 19134ParticipantI have said from the beginning that Barnes reminds me more of Luol Deng, but after seeing him play in college and how smoothe he is but unassertive I think he is the second coming of Josh Childress. If Barnes comes our this year he is still a top 5 pick. He will eventually come around. I think…. Although I would like to see him stay another year, especially with Kendell Marshall who too me is about as pure as a PG they come, I want him to come out this year because the Sixers need all the depth they can have at the top of the draft to ensure a shot at getting one of the bigs they need.
And I don’t know about you but I think Kendell Marshall is a fun point guard to watch….he thinks, pass, pass, pass, then shoot. He got great court vision and always finds the open man. He probes the defense only to find the open the man.
I think Barnes will slowly progress besides the fact his shooting percentages haven’t been getting any better. He got all the tools in the world and the shooting form and the on floor grace to become an extremely nice player. If he were to stay for another year he would no doubt become a much better player. Look at Blake Griffins improvement from his freshman year to sophomore year.

Meditated StatesParticipantI don’t think he will be more than that. He will get better, but a NBA superstar no. Role player yes.

StF616ParticipantLol, i remember a few months ago you compared him to kobe bryant with 28 points 7 rebounds 7 assists a game or something like that in his freshman year…lol

cabbycabParticipant@churchboy1:
He is definitely playing like a mid to late first rounder although this site lists him high. I would easily place TJones ahead of him now. Stranger things have happened in the draft however…..

QUINCEY HODGES1the lockout probably wont affect lotto pick guys. they will still be rich because they will get advances from there agents plus endorsement deals. its the fringe 1st rounders and second founders who will probably go back to college. does anyone remember if more people stayed in college the last time there was a NBA lockout?

Funny. If he was shooting the ball well now, nobody would be doubting his potential to be a star in the NBA.

scoutguruParticipantYeah I was thinking, ok yes, the shots aren’t "going down". But at what point do you say, ok he isn’t making shots because of his inability to get off quality shots at this level. Against people at a higher level of basketball, he just isn’t as good as he displayed in the previous level. There has to be a point where you say, this is the player he is, a mid-high 30% shooter as a freshman. This is who he is right now. That may change later on though, maybe later in the year, maybe next year, who knows. But we can’t keep hanging on to prep highlights and accolades. That’s why I like football draft process, where what guys do in HS is completely irrelevant to NFL talent evaluators, its all about primetime college football games where the evaluation takes place.

omphalosParticipantI can see him sticking around for three years in college and leaving as a junior. If he improves it would cement his legacy as a Tar Heel where two years probably wouldn’t, plus the draft class for when Barnes would be a sophmore is very strong, Rivers, Gilchrist, Miller. If he wants to be a high draft pick he’d be better off either going this year (someone will take that gamble) or after his junior season.
