knicksfan7ParticipantSome guys in the main mock draft on this site I do not think should make the jump to the NBA after this season here are some of the guys I feel should not.
Larry Sanders, VCU
Derrick Favors, Georgia Tech
Dominique Jones, USF. I love his game, but he needs to stay his senior year.
Devin Ebanks, WVU. Has not lived up to expectations after last year’s huge BE Tournament. I do think he is going to become a very good NBA player, but he needs another year of college ball.
Charles Garcia, Seattle. Unless he kills the combine and gets a verbal from a team to be selected in the first round, no reason for him to put his name in.
Elias Harris, Gonzaga. I have a hard time putting his name here, but he has had more sub-par games against good opponents than good games. Though, I see him being a one and done as well as a 1st round pick.Thoughts?

Michael.S.ParticipantFavors? I understand what you mean, that he needs to develop as a basketball player. But it would be foolish for him to pass on probably being a top 3 pick and go back to school.
My list
~John Henson
~Soloman Alabi
~Craig Brackins0- Posted on: Fri, 01/29/2010 - 10:02am #251652
knicksfan7ParticipantIf he is a top 3 pick, then by all means he should go, but a GM and team has to understand he is not ready.
I like the other guys you brought up. Henson would be more foolish than Marvin Williams considering he averages less and won’t get picked anywhere near the 2nd pick.
Alabi I hope does not jump.
Brackins I think he is ready to make the jump it may take him a year to get used to the NBA, but he will be good a pro.

Dhamp2ParticipantAdd Willie Warren.
Dhamp2….the greatest basketball mind in the world. Next to Hubie Brown anyway.
You heard it hear first…… KRIS JOSEPH will be a star next year.
I was the first to predict Wesley Johnson a lottery pick.
I told yall Willie Warren wouln’t be drafted in the lottery (I live in Oklahoma).
There are hundreds of players in the NBA. I chose Carmelo to lead the league in scoring.
How Steve Nash has two MVPs and Kobe one is crazy. You know that!!!
The Lakers will 3-peat
D-Howard is vastly overated!!!!! Like I said all last year on this site.
Durant is scary good. Wow.0- Posted on: Fri, 01/29/2010 - 10:14am #251661
knicksfan7ParticipantI agree on Warren, but I think he jumps as long as he will be a first round pick he Oklahoma is not playing well, so there is no point of him staying. I am not a big Willie Warren btw.

Disrespect_MeParticipanti havent seen alabi play this year
but I doubt he’d fall out of the lottery considering how many
teams are lacking a true center
he’s a project either way, whether he stays in college or goes

jeff416ParticipantI think Avery Bradley also needs to stay another year.

quinceyhodgesi agree most need to stay but i cant blame a guy whos gonna go lotto or even first round to stay in school

knicksfan7ParticipantI can’t either, but I believe if that player wants to be the best they can be before they go pro, then they will stay. Also, some guys enjoy the college life so stay an extra year.

tli232Jones…. I don’t know man. I don’t think he could prove too much more at USF putting up such solid numbers on efficient percentages. The potential marginal benefit of him returning is too low for the risk of adverse impact on his draft stock, IMO.
Guys to add IMO.
Henry: Has a bit of a one-dimensional game right now. If he stays a year or two, might turn into a Evan Turner type of guy. This guy can only get better playing in the Big 12.
Luke Babbit: Not enough Perimeter game yet. Not strong enough t bang in the post either. Needs to develop one or the other.
Renardo Sidney: Dude needs to play. and from what I’m reading, he’s seriously considering putting his name in the draft this year. I mean, his stock cannot be terribly high right now because he’s essentially a great high-school player, but older than many Sophomores! I don’t think GMs are too inclined to draft someone turning 21 this year but haven’t played an NCAA game.
Avery Bradley: Dude is 6’2″ 1/2 at best. Needs more PG skills if he plans on playing significant minutes int he NBA from the get go. I can’t really even see him being a combo guard at this time. I mean, IMO he CANNOT play even spot duty at PG in the NBA. Undersized 2 guards aren’t very sexy as the NBA is full of them. Could do the Steph Curry thing and become a PG in a year or 2.

knicksfan7ParticipantOn Sidney he may never be able to play college basketball that is why he will enter the draft because of the way he has got the raw end of the deal by the NCAA.

quinceyhodgesim not sure garcia can prove much against the comp he’s laying against. even if he puts up better numbers teams will still wonder how good he can be against good comp unless seattle schedules some top teams next year. and yeah some players wanna be the best they can be before they go but thats rare. most want to go while there stock is high and want the money and i cant blame them one bit. as far as bradley i think he should stay but he doesnt have to stay and run the point to get drafted as a point(r. westbrook). not sure why you dont think he can play spot duty since he can handle, pass and create. some players can just play the position without playing it in college. not sure if he can or not but nba teams seem to think so

JNixonParticipantDominique Jones would be best served to declare. He’s proven all he’s needed to, and if he returns and his efficiency drops he would look like an idiot for returning. It’s not USF will be a tourny team anyay, so what’d he be missing out on??
I think Avery Bradley should return. If he returns, he could be closer to Russell Westbrook than he is right now. I think with his current skill set, he’d be like a Royal Ivey type. That’s not his upside.
I think that Favors should definitely return. He cannot create for himself yet. But I do think he’d have a Chris Wilcox type impact if he declared. That’s not terrible, but Wilcox is an underachiever with many of the same strengths and weaknesses Favors has.

mouchy18ParticipantI agree Willie Warren needs another year in school but i believe it will have a negative effect. He could end up being the guy who stays too long, gets exposed and his stock drops…Get as much as you can while you can i guess.

KevinDurantRocksParticipantIs really good and i think if he misses the draft this year it will just leave next years scouts wondering why they didn’t pick him up before

marcusfizer21ParticipantSolomon Alabi is still too raw for the NBA… He might end up becoming Alexis Ajinca if he decides to join in 2010…
