Here is an article from Insider, I remember when this guy was considered a high upside guy 6’7” point guard, versatile, young, but he never really panned out once he got a big contract.

The Commercial Appeal reports the Memphis Grizzlies have mutually agreed to allow veteran guard Marko Jaric to seek a roster spot with another team. Said general manager Chris Wallace: “With the offseason additions of Allen Iverson, Marcus Williams and Sam Young, our backcourt has become crowded.”
“This is pretty much a mutual thing,” Jaric’s agent, Bill Duffy, told ESPN.com’s Marc Stein. “Very much cooperative between the Grizzlies and us. We would also likely consider a buyout if a trade is not tenable. This just gives us freedom to look around.”

Jaric is due to earn $7.1 million this season and $7.6 million next season.

Do you guys think he just needs a change in scenery or do you think he’s on his way to being another guy who fades into obscurity after signing a big contact?

I think he will pretty much fade into obscurity. but he does have talent and he showed it when he was a clipper. I’m not sure why he hasn’t been able to at least get some consistent minutes off the bench.

but he needs to post up more and cut to the rim for his size advantage
ala magic Johnson and Magic johnson’s disciples/fans Baron Davis/Kidd/Pippen/Diaw etc.

if he wants to draw double teams post up/cut to the rim for a give & go or a rebound

I watch a lot of Magic Johnson so I should know
    he’s 6’8 210 lbs that’s good but
maybe he doesn’t watch Magic Johnson tapes growing up
only Michael Jordan/Kobe Bryant/Manu Ginobli etc (shooting guards)

I think he can be a good bench player if he finds the right place. I have no idea what happened to him, but maybe a role off the bench will help him regain some of his confidence. I don’t think he can step in and start anywhere at this point, but I could see him as a solid backup for Calderon in Toronto. They only have one other point guard in Marcus Banks on their roster, and his versatility would provide size at the position off the bench ( Calderon 6’3”, Banks 6’2” )

I think he needs a position change. He isnt quite the PG that teams are looking for but, a SG or SF that can pass, dribble, and shoot is where he would be successful. He needs to call the 76ers because they need a backup PG, unless they like Holiday as a rookie, they need some long range shooting, and they need size in their backcourt.

A change of scenery will help him. Almost every player that has left the Grizzlies has done better elsewhere.

LOL… When you’re dating a goddess, it could distract you…

On to Serious business, Marko Jaric is a very silent type PG and he has skills… I admired him way back when he was a Clipper and I still think he may be able to help a team out… I think if he goes to a championship caliber team like Boston, San Antonio, LA Lakers or whoever, he will be able to rejuvenate his career…

That’s the thing about the so-called “Contract Phenomenon”- players do well when their contract expire then when they sign a heavy loaded contract, they seem to disappear and play with lack of effort… You wanna know who? Ask Luol Deng, Tim Thomas, Eddy Curry, Jerome James etc… Too many to mention…

Bottomline, I would love for Jaric to play for a championship team… That’s where he will blossom solidly.
