What do u do with mayo?

Is rudy expandable with the recent sucess without him?

I seen a thread earlier about trading Mayo and Gay for Beasley and Rubio….

    BAD trade for the Grizz

I dont see how we improve with that trade, Beasley dont believe in defense, I dont see him ever being able to guard the SF position, we have solid rotation at the PF position, so where does he fit?

Im against trading Rudy, but Mayo can be traded, we need immediate help at the C, rotating Arthur I dont think will work against teams like LA, if we could trade Mayo for an experienced big and maybe get a late draft pick this year, im all up for that, otherwise we gotta get a 3 shooter, hopefully Henry comes back next year much improved and healthy…..

    any thoughts?

Rudy is expendable IMO but who would take him? I mean he just signed a max deal and he is not even their best player. Minnesota would not take him because he simply costs too much money and they are clearly trying to build their team via the draft. Plus, they have two solid young small forwards in Johnson and Webster who have lots of potential. They do better when they operate down low in the half-court and Conley uses his speed to push the ball in transition. Tony Allen brings it on the defensive end every night and has been scoring lots of easy buckets in transistion anf finishing on drives with his excellent athleticism and body control. Hopefully Gay’s contract does not cripple their ability to go after other players. If that happens they will just turn into the Hawks of the west basically.

I never said Rudy wasnt expendable, but trading him for Beasley is an outrage, and I dont think it will cripple us, he’ll only get better in my opinion, Rudy is a very talented player, he just needs to drive more and be more aggressive, he’s not going to the line enough, for him to be so athletic, the Line-up of Gasol, Zach, Gay, Allen, Conley is good for the next 3-4 years barring injuries, bench production is going to be the key honestly, Atlanta is undersized in the paint Memphis is not, like i said im only looking for a Big to back up Gasol, Mayo for Jason Thompson, and a future 1st is looking great to me, i mean its alot better than the Josh McRoberts deal….why would Sac turn down the possiblity of a Evans/Mayo backcourt?

The new CBA is going to cripple the Grizzlies franchise once they give Gasol 10-mil per. I only suggested trading Gay because he is the most expendable out of Randolph, Gasol, and himself. He is also the second most expensive. They are winning right now without him… A return of Beasley and Rubo would be generous when everyone figures out they are like a wounded animal scraping up those dollars.

your right, out of the 3 i’d trade Gay, but not for Beasley, id take an expiring and a couple picks, the Beasley trade wouldnt help any more

The grizzlies are not a team that should look to build for the future. They need to win as much as they can now, because Randolph has only 2 or 3 years left playing as well as he does now. Gay is better than Beasley as of now and Rubio might not even be as good as Conley right now(Conley playing pretty well and Rubio not so well in Spain). I would never make the trade.

Memphis should trade Mayo for a big and somethig else, as he isn’t helping the team. Other than that or some minor trades, they shouldn’t change anything.

Rudy Gay expendable? He is a nice asset to the team, Sam Young is nowhere near his level. So IF you HAVE to trade one of the 3 it would be Gay, but no reason to do it.

Memphis fans could have a young upcoming team like OKC is they stand pat.  Randolph is the only older player who will probably stick around.Battier will probably be gone with Gay Returning and Young playing really well.  If Henry stays on the Grizz than OJ Mayo will have to go.  I am thinking OJ will go because they will lose him for nothing if they wait too long.

The big difference between Memphis and OKC is that the Thunder have 2 franchise players, while we have 2 all-star level players. But if the grizz don’t change too much we will make the playoffs for 3-4 years and with seeds higher than the 8th we have this year. The core of Gay, Randolph and Gasol is great and surrounded by good role players. What we miss is that NBA top 10 talent that make championship teams.

I dont think you understand. With the new CBA if it hits hard enough Memphis will need cap space. That means movingalot of money. That means Gay, Randolph, or gasol would have to go. That means Gay would have to go. I just floated the Beasley, Rubio idea because it would save them about $10-Mil and give them a very vaalueable asset in Rubio. Beasley wouldnt do what Gay does as far as leadership goes, or defense but he would be just as good a scorer. Well not just as good because of effiecency issues…just saying dont be surprised if something like this happens.

I haven’t kept up with all these CBA discussions, but how bad are we talking? hard cap? Cause if it’s just a luxury tax it seems that the owners are willing to spend for the first time in franchise history and we don’t need more guys, just to keep the ones we have.

If there’s a hard cap then the Grizz can make a move, and the Beasley trade is not that bad if it saves us a lot and gives us relatively proven players. Minny can throw in a few picks too. If there’s a hard cap and we need to do it it’s not bad.
