d-grizzlyParticipantcouple scenarios have been thrown out and spoken of.
#2 pick either kept or traded. it looks like it will be traded with all the talks that have been happening.
from what it looks like, if memphis selects rubio at #2, it’s for trade bait. Teams that are interested consist of sacramento, new york, atlanta, phoenix, minnesota.
from what it looks like, if memphis selects thabeet at #2, it’s also for trade bait, (boston, houston).
the trade scenarios: simply rumors that i’ve seen here and elsewhere lately.
#2 for #4, and thompson from what i’ve heard. also, a spokesmen from the kings denied this from what i’ve heard.. – sac/mem
or –
#2 and darko(expire) for #4, #23, and garcia. – sac/mem#2 for david lee and #8. d’antoni wants a real pg. – ny/mem
#2 for josh smith. memphis can easily afford smith’s contract. could fit very well at Pf in mem. – atl/mem
#2 for kevin love. Memphis gets the power they really need. – minn/mem
As far as phoenix goes, I have no idea what memphis would do here. amare’ would be apart of it and memphis would probably have to drop a core. i’m not into this one personally.
As far as boston goes, from a guess, ray allens expiring contract would be involved for the #2 pick.
As far as Houston goes, I can’t put together what they would trade to memphis for the #2 pick.
I’m not into the idea of trading to sac. From what it looks like, they don’t want to give up much. and that’s fine, somebody else could make a better deal.
My favorite of all these is either the new york trade, the atlanta trade, or the minnesota trade ideas. What’s yours?

d-grizzlyParticipantbetween ny, atl, minn, i think the teams would have to wait until july 1st. sign and trades, contract issues.

gatorheelsParticipantI’m not a huge Memphis fan but it seems that the Knicks trade might offer the most value. To me there isn’t much difference between Lee & Love. Love is a little younger maybe a bit more skilled but still getting Lee & the 8th pick is the better deal. Personally I don’t see Mayo, Gay, & Josh Smith all getting along. Plus Smith can’t shoot, I think he is a little overrated. The Kings trade would be a good deal too I think. Garcia is a high quality backup at the SF position. Plus there isn’t really a big difference between the 4th pick & the 2nd pick. There will be alot of good players available at pick 23 too.

gatorheelsParticipantNah I doubt it. Boston would have to give up too much to get the 2.
I have a feeling there is a team out there that nobody is talking about that has a huge crush on Rubio. Maybe draft night this unknown team offers the Grizzlies a deal that can’t pass up. Maybe a team like Portland.

pistonsmanParticipantNOT A BAD IDEA.

ckowalskiParticipantI’ve got this bad feeling that houston is offering McGrady to memphis for the #2 pick. Memphis and Houston have a little trading history with stromile swift and then battier, but I really can’t see this trade happening without houston forcing memphis to give up gay. I know that gay and tmac would essentially be interchangeable at the SF position but it would seem to me that they would want to pair tmac with gay, and also have gay as a backdoor in case they cant resign mcgrady after his contract is up. Another situation I can see happening is mcgrady going to memphis for the #2, mike conley, maybe a filler PF, and marko jaric (realistically if houston is looking to move mcgrady they are going to have to take on a bad contract to do it.) Then you can move OJ to the point and have mcrady and rudy together on the floor. I havent looked at this in trade manager so im not sure if it works salary wise or not. I could then see houston picking thabeet with the pick since they desperately need a backup center and since mutombo is retiring who better than the so called second coming of mutombo? I would love conley to start and have the brooks/lowry combo off the bench if we didnt have to package one of them to get the deal done. I think it would be a real step backwards for houston but depending on whether or not the pairing works and mcgrady can stay on the floor i think it could really help memphis out.
Thoughts?

d-grizzlyParticipanti like the new york trade the most as well. do you know if they’d have to wait until july 1st to sign and trade? or is it later? ckowalski, if conely goes anywhere, he’d probably go to portland.

gatorheelsParticipanti think they would have to wait until july 30th to do a sign & trade but i’m not 100% sure about that

d-grizzlyParticipantjosh smith at 4 would be very interesting. if he had a better attitude, i think it would work. Smith doesn’t need an absolute jumpshot. with conely, mayo and gay being able to jumpshoot or penetrate, it makes smith that more dangerous and easier to shoot.
conely, mayo, gay and smith on the fastbreak…ouch.

gatorheelsParticipantThey would certainly be athletic. Think about this though….What if they made the trade with the Knicks…….Then with the 8th pick took DeRozan. Then traded Conley to Portland for Rodriguez, Outlaw, & 24th pick. Then Memphis would draft Daye at 24 Calathes at 27 Meeks at 36.
Mayo/Rodriguez/Calathes
DeRozan/Meeks
Gay/Outlaw/Daye
Lee/Arthur
Gasol/MilicicThat would be a scary good team.

d-grizzlyParticipanti like mayo at the point. i’m not sure how derozan would gell though. it is quite a bit of change for the grizz, but it looks nice.

maravich44ParticipantMcGrady is always injured. He has seen his better years. Huge mistake to trade Gay for him!
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/17/2009 - 12:53pm #166763

d-grizzlyParticipanti don’t want that guy on memphis’ books. i definitly don’t want to see gay go.

grizz_fan7Participanti do NOT want tmac anywhere near to this team! he is always injured! I would never trade the #2 pick for him. IMO Gay will be tmac 2.0 without the injuries!

d-grizzlyParticipanti think durant and gay are gonna be some very tough matches in the next 4-5 years. by then, both players will have all the skills necessary. i think durant’s gonna excel immensly offensively with above average defense and i’m thinking gay’s gonna excel in defense with above average offense.

grizz_fan7Participantoh you mean anthony randolph? I would love the grizz to aquire him but I don’t think itll ever happen. His natural postion is PF but he can play sf. He reminds me alot of a young kg!
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/17/2009 - 1:21pm #166785

d-grizzlyParticipantmy bad, yes i meant anthony randolph. dang. i was considering him one of the future sf’s. He’ll be a hybrid foward with his size.
