is it a strong possibility to see these 2 teams trading on draft night? I like to believe they will.

    sac gets
    * Rights to rubio
    * Darko (expiring) big man. real center… average Defense, below average overall

    mem gets
    *jordan hill
    * fran. garcia – great bench player so far. energy, passing, defense, 3’s!

    NO PICKS INVOLVED…

i’m a big fan of garcia’s style of play. some of his numbers went down last year, likely from that injury at the beginning of the year and poor coaching system all year long. He’s got..i think 4 more years ( 5 million ) a year. the kings could let him go and easily make up for him in the draft or free agency.

Sacramento gets their star (possible) pointguard of the future and puts alotta fans back in the stands… aka-worst fan attendence of 08-09. they also get darko who could come in for hawes or thompson. he’s not an offensive threat, but he’ll play average d and get some blocks, plus he’s expiring. Losing garcia may be a reach…but they could find somebody to replace him. also from what i’ve read and a little bit of what i’ve heard, king fans weren’t too happy with garcia.

Memphis gets Hill. not the exact powerfoward of the draft that they wanted…( griffin ), but this kid’s got some big potential. They get garcia as well. I’ve watched enough king games to know that he’ll work real well with mayo, conely and gay. garcia’s got this height factor that allows him to plays the 1,2,3…although i think he’s best effective at 1,2 due to his weight.

Ya I think a trade like this will go down. I dont know if its enough for Rubio because Garcia has a pretty rough contract too, so they arent getting rid of to much money.

I think the Grizzlies would be better off trading for Griffin. I wouldn’t give up Rubio for Hill. Hill is descent but I wouldn’t take him with the 4th pick. It wold be tough getting the #1 pick even though the Clippers want Rubio. The Clippers have said that they wouldn’t trade the #1 pick unless a team was willing to take Zach Randolph and his huge contract. I am pretty sure Memphis doesn’t want Randolph. Garcia is a nice player but he doesn’t help out the Grizzlies too much. Thabeet & Evans would help out Memphis more than Hill & Garcia I promise you.

Yea i agree with blfaa2, if Udrih could get packaged in this deal as well I would be a little more satisfied, but I still think you are undervaluing Rubio. Maybe the #4 and Jason Thompson for the #2 would be a little more reasonable and the Grizz could go a number of different directions with that pic since the PF situation would be solidified. I personally, being a huge Grizz fan, want to see them keep the pick and take Rubio because I believe he will bring the flare this team and town so desperately need.

i don’t mean to undervalue rubio, you see, both sides have possible leverage. if rubio is true to the unlikely rumors, then sac could talk it to just #4 pick and udrih or garcia…or maybe just thomas. if rubio had no problem coming to memphis, which i think that’s how it really is, then mem could use the leverage on sac and get somebody like thompson. but as far as those two bigs go..i’m not sure if they’ll give one up..and if they had to give one up..it’d be hawes..and he plays like a 4.

Yea I see where you’re coming from. As of right now I believe that it is just an unconfirmed rumor because Wallace spoke with Rubio’s agent and his agent said Memphis is definitely not ruled out. Wallace, Gasol, and Hollins met with Rubio and his family a week or so ago, and the talks supposedly went “really well”. Yea I think Wallace is a little shy when it comes to pulling the trigger on trades because of the backlash of the Pau trade so it’s going to have to be a steal for him to make the move. The Grizzlie front office, from what I’ve gathered from Memphis Commercial Appeal, is apparently in love with Rubio though so hopefully they will do the smart thing, in my eyes, and take him.

If somehow Rubio decides he wants to play for Memphis which he might I think they should take him. If this happens I then think the Grizzlies should trade some sort of combination of Conley, Arthur, Milicic, 27th pick so they can trade up and can get a late lottery pick or mid first round pick and grab a power forward like Blair or James Johnson.

    A lineup of

    Rubio
    Mayo
    Gay
    Blair or Johnson
    Gasol

    would be fun to watch.

Yea man you can go to commercialappeal.com or go to yahoo.com and look up the grizzlies under the NBA page and check out the news postings they have listed (which is postings from the commercial appeal, just an easier way to get there). The latter is how I get all my information. Posted below are some links I have found useful.

thanks for the links. and i agree with the idea of keeping him. it’d bring that flare and the missing fans that don’t show. Maybe if they kept rubio they could convince a pf in free agency!

Yea I agree, I went to 12 home games this year (had to drive 6 hours to get there) and unless it was the Cavs, Suns, or another top-tier team the place was a ghost land. If Rubio is just near as good as hyped (I have just seen him play in the Olympics and numerous youtube clips) I believe people will finally want to watch the Grizz, and may even get a few primetime television appearances (ESPN, TNT, etc.). As far as the PF’s go Heisley has to discontinue being a cheap skate because David Lee, Boozer, Paul Milsap, Birdman, and Varejao are all on the market this offseason and any would help our team dramatically.

i like the idea of lee or milsap even. boozers breakable. and varejao flops too much for memphis’ style lol. lee would bring some rebounds to memphis!

Yea Lee and Milsap would be the ideal pickups in my opinion as well. Birdman and Rubio would be a pretty crazy combo to watch though ha.

Glen Davis could be a good fit or even Villanueva. Gay & Villanueva played well together at UConn. Davis & Villanueva are both restricted free agents but I doubt the Celtics or Bucks will match a good offer if the Grizzlies wanted to sign one of them.

i think boston will do everything they can to keep davis. powe’s great but…that injury…..wow. milwauke may want vill over sessions. but the idea of vill playing in memphis would fit.

I really like Garcia yet I would give him up if I was the Kings to make something along these lines happen.

Thompson I don’t think would be smart….. Who would the Kings have after Hawes… look at the roster … Ike can leave (restricted) so that leaves *nobody *… Hawes and Thompson ATM are or should be untouchable.

    Calvin Booth Sacramento Unrestricted F.A.
    Ike Diogu Sacramento Restricted F.A.
    Bobby Jackson Sacramento Unrestricted F.A.
    Rashad McCants Sacramento Restricted F.A.
    Cedric Simmons Sacramento Unrestricted F.A

Getting Rubio and hoping for another decent PF out of the Draft at 23 is not much to count upon…If Sac gets Rubio and still goes in the toilet another season, going after John Wall in 2010 is kinda pointless, 2 Talented PG’s wont do squat backing each other up when you have KMartin at the 2 and he is to small to be a 3….so why give up a very talented PF for a maybe PG when there is some extremely talented PG’s still to be had…. There are no guarantee on Rubio but Sac does know that Thompson has a high ceiling.

I think the guy they want is Greene over Garcia. That’s just my thinking though, but I think Greene fits their style more and has more upside at that.

i’m sure memphis would want garcia over green. green showed absolutely nothing last season. i watched quite a few games with the fam. the kid has some energy though, which is pretty nice. i just think garcia’s worth much more and has established that, and would definitly fit in better with memphis.
