seriously look at all the injuries and he’s giving the same production as bowie…he was also picked before kevin durant as bowie over jordan, not calling durant jordan but his stats speak for themselves

What is with all the Bowie comparisons lately? That was 25 years ago! How about the Kandi man? At least he is a little more recent. Did ESPN do a Bowie special recently that I missed??? Oden is still, what 21? Let’s not throw the towel in on him just yet. While he will NEVER be as good as Durant, I still think he will be a defensive monster in the league.

I think he is looking like a bust, he better start proving people wrong because he isnt looking like a number 1 pick right now.

and we have all seen how a player can change when a player picked right behind him turns out awesome and that happens in every sport…not only will the media turn on him but his confidence goes down

and from reports greg oden doesn’t play well unless he’s confident and thinking he can dominate

Oden is putting his foot in your mouth right now. I love it that he’s proving haters like you, who criticized him as hard as you could when he was injured, wrong. Enjoy that foot in your mouth… Happy Thanksgiving.

tezo i’m sorry if greg oden having a couple of good games is boosting your confidence. He’s still not giving the production of a number 1 pick. Blame the media, but I don’t see david robinson in him, I see the 6th best young center. Behind HOward, Bynum, Lopez, Gasol and Bogut and depending on your thoughts on position we could also include horford and jefferson. 11.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks, okay but not great.

    howard- 17 points, 11.4 rebounds, 1.6 blocks

    bynum- 19.7 points, 10.9 rebounds, 1.9 blocks

    Gasol- 15.2 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.7 blocks

    lopez- 17.5 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.6 blocks

    Bogut- 16.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, 1,4 blocks

and just because horford- 13.7 points, 10.1 rebounds, 1.8 blocks

jefferson- 15.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.2 blocks(coming off of knee surgery)

    the stats don’t lie.

You’ll be eating your words pretty soon. Then what will you say? What else will you find to hate on?

    Dwight Howard- 25.9 pts, 17.4 rbs, 2.0 ast, 1.4 stl, 2.4 blk

    Andrew Bynum- 25.8 pts, 14.3 rbs, 1.7 ast, .8 stl, 2.2 blk

    Marc Gasol- 20.7 pts, 14.3 rbs, 2.6 ast, 1.5 stl, 2.4 blk

    Brook Lopez- 23.8 pts, 11.9 rbs, 2.0 ast, .5 stl, 3.5 blk

    Andrew Bogut- 23.9 pts, 13.2 rbs, 2.8 ast, 1.0 stl, 2.1 blk

    Al Hortford- 19.5 pts, 14.3 rbs, 2.8 ast, 1.0 stl, 2.5 blk

    Al Jefferson- 23.5 pts, 11.6 rbs, 3.5 ast, 2.3 stl, 1.7 blk

    Greg Oden- 22.8 pts, 16.4 rbs, 1.6 ast, .6 stl, 4.7 blk

They all look pretty close… Anyway, numbers only tell a part of the story, but even from that standpoint, Oden continues to improve.

per 48 dont count cuz how many fouls would oden ? he cant stay on the court cuz he hacks and isnt in the best shape he seems to start sucking wind very quick which leads to silly fouls. he is a cool player but just a role player and i dont think role players should be taken number 1 that should be for stars only.

exactly. oden will get better and hes not even close to kandi man but some fans do get carried away one way or the other with him. and i feel you beanz when people put in the per48 they conveniently always forget to put in the fouls also. i also find it funny that when you dont agree with someone else opinion or say something negative about a player then they consider you a hater. so doesnt that mean if you say something good about them then youre a d*ck rider? If we go by the hater logic then it makes perfect sense

although i think he will be better then just a role player in the future. right now he is a pretty good role player and a good young center. not as good as a couple of his peers just yet though

Oden has improved a lot this season compared to his rookie year. A guy who in his early 20’s showing improvement and working hard doesn’t spell the next Olawakandi. Oden’s points, rebounds, and blocks numbers are better than the Kandi man’s 2nd year while Oden is playing about 7 minutes less per game and shootin 20% ,yes 20% better from the feild. Oden has a ton of hype but you can’t count him out as a bust 17 games into his 2nd year. He still has a long way to go, but he is laying a good foundation thus far. He shoots 64% from the feild, 79% from the line, rebounds and is 3rd in the NBA in blocked shots. Sure he isn’t that polished yet, but a young big improving at this rate and doing quite a few things well rarely gets hated on as much as Oden, thats one of the draw backs of being over hyped by the media.

No, I didn’t conveniently forget fouls. I used the per48 to show how effective each player is when given the same number of minutes. Joe Wolf explains everything else quite well. I haven’t seen a center who shows as many positives as Oden get lambasted on such a regular basis. And beans, he rarely hacks. He gets called for body contact on most of his fouls, whether covering a perimeter player on a switch or help defense, or going straight up with a post player. By the end of the year, I suspect we’ll be talking about him as a top 5 center, and maybe the best defensive center in the league.

yeah he doesn’t deserve most of the negitive stuff that he gets. and doesn’t deserve some of the overhyped credit as well. i said before his defense of iq isnt real high yet. yes he blocks shots but liek you said with his fouls he doesn’t know how to move his feet well enouhg to stop picking up fouls or keep from picking up dumb fouls. with time im sure that will change. i think its possible that he could be talked about as one of the top 5 centers in the leauge in the future. right now he blocks shots better then alot of other centers but he doesn’t rebound or score better then a nice number of other centers. his offense is still pretty raw but improving and will get better with time

okay so Greg Oden is gone for the season, once again. Now you can go ahead and start giving me negative points again for being right.
